"Movie And A Show" Thread: Popcorn Optional

Loved the original 80’s Critters movie! Easily the BEST Gremlins rip-off ever, and a legit good movie in it’s own right. The sequel was alright. The rest are best left forgotten.

And for fellow 80’s music fans, do you remember that rock song that was constantly played in the first movie? Turns out a FULL song of that exists! Badass!

“POWAAAAA… ONNNNNNN!!!”

So even though I’ve owned it since I watched the second Kingsman I finally watched the first one.

So fucking good. I loved Samuel L Jackson’s character a lot. I bet having to use a lisp was super hard for him since he actually use to have one but went through years of speech therapy to get rid of it. It made the character very funny though despite how fucking crazy he was. His phobia for blood was very funny too.

I had no idea it was based on a comic. Though not surprising since most movies these days are based on comics or novels if they’re not remakes.

Watching Dredd again for like the billionth time. Karl Urban did such a great job as Dredd. I desperately want a sequel featuring the Angel family or Judge Death.

Or at least give me a limited-run series. SOMETHING! They did such a good job in presenting the dystopian future that is Dredd’s world.

Edit: Hell yeah.

I wonder if Cena in the F&F series is a response to The Rock😂

Finally watched Glass. Don’t understand the negative reviews, movie is what I supposed it would be. Maybe ppl were expecting idk Avengers or something. They kept exploring the theme(s) they had addressed in Unbreakable and Split. I was fine with the ending too. The title of the movie is very fitting also. Anya Taylor is so fine (no pedo)

She was born in 1996 so you’re safe homie.

Just finished Spectre. Liked that pre intro helicopter fight, that was sick. Can’t say I really dug the intro song and music video tho. We got a rogue bond again that’s cool, and yes more Moneypenny, she cute. All the scenes with Q are great to. Craig’s more serious Bond makes him more fun to pick on hehe. Train fight was dope. The Blofeld stuff was tense but ended kinda weird with him just laying in the street like “that happened.” Kinda weird. They under utilized Batista as well, one more fight with him would have been cool. I really like that they got more of the MI6 group involved, gave it some more characters to work off of. Hope we continue seeing more Moneypenny.

I know the Craig Bond movies aren’t a lot of people’s favorites but over all i really like all of them. I like that they are more spy thrillers and take themselves more seriously then most Bond movies. I still find even his weakest movie, Quantum to be a lot better then many other Bond movies. Dunno really like this run.

As far as portrayal nobody has done a better job of taking on the role of Ian Fleming’s James Bond than Timothy Dalton. The actor that popularized the role and is most remembered for the role is Sean Connery. Some cling to Roger Moore’s charm, others to Pierce Brosnan’s suave, and others to the raw grit of Daniel Craig.

I personally think that outside of ‘Skyfall’, which resembles Ian Fleming’s novels the least, Craig has had some of the worst James Bond outings of any of the actors. I have been more entertained by reading the books than most of the Bond films starring him. This is especially true of ‘Casino Royale’.

My favorites are Brosnan and Craig. Connery is cool and suave an all but most of his bond movies are ok at best, terrible at worst. He deffinitly should have stuck to his guns and never did Never Say Never Again. I fucking hate Moore most of the time. Moonraker is awful. I do like Live and Let Die tho. George Lazenby is completely forgettable. I dunno what it is about Dalton but I hate his screen presence in everything. He’s not a bad Bond by any stretch, in fact he’s pretty good and accurate but I just hate watching him. Didn’t like him on Doctor Who either. I love Brosnan as Bond and with only 4 films under his name he manages to go 50/50 on the quality scale. His first two are great and his last two are meh, but he’s still fun to watch in them so I still do from time to time. I like all of Craig’s movies, even his worst, Quantum, is still pretty good over all getting no where close to bad Bond films of the past imo.

I would also say that I dislike Moore’s portrayal, but I enjoy anything with Dalton really. His timing and execution in everything I have seen him in is flawless.

Have you read the books?

Yes.

Which one do you favor most? I am most fond of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service myself.

Casino Royal. Thunderball is cool to. Liked Goldfinger.

But yea Casino. Favorite Bond movie to.

I liked Casino Royal and Thunderball as well, but the premise of Goldfinger always seemed a bit absurd to me. The worst movie adaptation to me is without a doubt Moonraker, though I am not fond of the film adaptations of Casino Royal.

Am I a bad person for having Goldeneye as my favourite?

Nope. My second favorite one, Goldeneye is fucking awesome. Famke Janssen yo.
