P.S. âTango and Cashâ has characters worth rooting for and decent execution on the fugitives proving innocence plot, âHobbs and Shawâ has neither of those things. It wasnât exactly 1993âs âThe Fugitiveâ (which borrowed heavily from the 1960âs television series) but it was well made action flick.
Action flicks donât have to be well made to be fun or even good. Look at Steven Seagalâs earlier work. Fucking horrid but man theyâre fun and entertaining.
Arnoldâs first outings werenât so hot either.
The Rock and Statham have both embraced the type casts they fought so hard to not be. Now that theyâve embraced it their films are fun as fuck to watch. Who cares if theyâre arenât âgoodâ?
The Meg. Hot garbage but entertaining.
Rampage and Skyscraper. Hot garbage but entertaining.
And they both breathed life into a dwindling franchise.

It wasnât terrible by any means. I thought it fantastic, tbh. I immediately wanted to read the source material because I enjoyed the world they presented.
But to say itâs the movie of the year when we have like 4 Disney live action remakes, a handful of marvel movies, a PokĂ©mon movie, a mister Rogers biopic and fucking Star Wars which even with how divisive TLJ made the fan base and how unnecessary Solo was its still a juggernaut of an IP is just plain fucking silly.
If that is the case your earlier statement makes no sense as all these movies relied heavily on the plot to give them momentum.

I fucking loved Alita and I only went to see it once. I could see going 2 maybe 3 times, especially with friends, but at 10 bucks a ticket thatâs the cut off. $190 to keep seeing the same movie over and over? Fuck that noise, thatâs stupid as hell.
