"Movie And A Show" Thread: Popcorn Optional

Yeah. It’s ridiculous. I’ve also had customers try to convince me to come to their church too. And when I tell them I’m atheist they freak out, act offended but then act sympathetic to me like I’m just this poor soul who hasn’t found god yet.

Please.

Those are the saner ones.

Sad fact.

The whole of the shithole bumfuck Bible Thumping area where I attended Junior College, tried to get the sole Philosophy teacher there straight up fired simply for doing his job.

Even though I knew all these things existed, it’s weird hearing actual stories.
This is why America is the way it is.

And to top it all off, we have the Extreme Left, pushing austerity, driving all of the less fortunate, non-1%ers into the open maw of the Heartland.

America is getting fucked on BOTH ends.

And the homeless flood the streets.

But fuck them, right?

It is THEIR fault they can’t make $1000 rent in one of the cheapest areas, on $9.50 an hour.

Oh I’ve got tons of fucking stories. Some including my own family; specifically my parents.

Like when I found out my mom was a racist. Boy that was a doozy.

Oh, oh, oh! And when she told me the biggest mistake she made in raising me is not raising me as a Christian. Basically invalidating my entire belief system and morality as a person. That was neat. She’s still “in the closet” as it were that I’m an atheist. Same with my dad.

As a full fledged home grown Kentucky boy, I feel your pain, Stu. The bible belt sucks ass and having family in the bible belt is even worse. My grandparents have the exact same black and white views as your folks. I remember being 16 years old and being floored hearing my grandmother talking about “them queers” when on the subject of a LBTG+ friendly club at my school and how they needed to remove all the students involved from school and fire the teachers. My grandparents are also the same way when it comes to:

Good people that don’t go to church = pieces of shit
While
Shitty people that go to church = fine.

I almost can’t stand being around them for this reason since all they wanna do is always try to guilt me for not going to church. Lol

At least your country isn’t a whole bible belt.
I’m so glad I don’t live in Poland LOL

Isn’t this what they call “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps”?

Ooh. I respect Jordan for saying that if it’s the truth, but that can only hurt him going forward. If he wants to make bigger movies (like he has hinted at), he needs bankable stars. Most bankable stars today are white. At a certain budget, these studios don’t play. All in all, I would have kept quiet about that. I feel he could have gone a LONG time with minority leads before anyone got the courage to ask “hey, how come you never make a white dude/lady the lead?”

How?

If he creates movies that make bank, would that not allow for those actors to cross over into other media? It’s a gamble perhaps, but I would not say he’s setting himself up for failure. In the same vein, these studios don’t want to play, make your own.

I would not call his movies a resounding success, but he has the skills of a good director and the casting has not been the reason his films fall short of being good. He needs better scripts.

Except they have been?

Maybe they’re a myth like Solenya

Relatively speaking, that’s an impressive return which is ultimately what the studio wants. With advertising usually landing at the same amount of the production budget, they still easily clear that metric. They also received mostly positive reviews. both from viewers and critics.

What other measure of success is there?
