End Game was more for long time fans of the MCU than the common movie goer.
It was a Wrap up of 10 years worth of Movies. And most movie universes wrap it up by part 3.
So if you aren’t personally invested one way or another I can see why you find the film dull.
I did not think it was boring, but the amount of plot holes and logic defying ass pulls in the movie made me think of it as a joke. I also found Thor to be really underwhelming as a neckbeard and Hulk to be too much of a hippie. It really tried to make Captain America interesting with his new weapon in the final battle though. Then again, I only found the following comic book movies to be worth rewatching and I do not think those hold up to scrutiny either:
Batman (1989) Batman Begins (2005) Batman Returns (1992) Bulletproof Monk (2003) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Casper (1995) City Hunter (1993) Constantine (2005) Darkman (1990) Doctor Strange (2016) Iron Man (2008) Iron Man 3 (2013) Kick-Ass (2010) Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) Men in Black (1997) Men in Black II (2002) Men in Black 3 (2012) Red 2 (2013) Richie Rich (1994) Road to Perdition (2002) Sin City (2005) Superman (1978) Spider-Man (2002) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) The Losers (2010) The Mask (1994) The Punisher (2004) Watchmen (2009) Weird Science (1985)
P.S. Matt Damon has some serious acting chops and stands out even in his supporting or side character roles. I think the premise of The Talented Mr. Ripley is what is keeping me from enjoying it. I think his best roles are in:
School Ties (1992) Good Will Hunting (1997) The Rainmaker (1997) Rounders (1998) Saving Private Ryan (1998) The Bourne Identity (2002) The Departed (2006) Contagion (2011) The Zero Theorem (2013) Interstellar (2014)
It is kind of dark for a superhero movie and it does not have the same exposure and pop culture phenomenon going for it as many other franchises to be considered relevant by the younger audience.
Those were not comprehensive lists of comic book films or films with Matt Damon, just ones I enjoyed enough to rewatch or thought were good examples of Matt Damon’s acting ability.
I liked the modern remake of True Grit, but Matt Damon’s role was heavily overshadowed by Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld chemistry.
P.S. There was a movie with Alec Baldwin taking on the role of “The Shadow” but I never felt the urge to see it.
That is really cool. Not long ago I saw some kind of special on the making of the original and it blew me away how great of an experience it was for those involved. Hopefully this outing will be equally as happy and memorable.
