The best resource hands down is this page and it’s associated forum http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm. The control panel isn’t much different than wiring a stick. You can use something like Toodle’s Cthulhu board and plug in USB or you can use an ipaq http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html which is what I have in mine. The difference is that the Cthulhu will be seen as a PS3 controller while the ipaq will be seen as a keyboard. The only advantage I can see with using the ipaq other than price is that some native PC fighting games (Melty Blood, Fate Unlimited, etc…) do not support joystick input.
Really the hardest part is the woodwork and, depending on what route you want to take, the monitor / video.
We switched convertors later that night. The stick still gives random inputs. Mike figures the pcb is toast. I’ve used that pcb in different sticks for about 5 years, so it figures

New idea on the blog. In addition to posting about our meet-ups or whatever, I think I’m gonna do something along the lines of SonicHurricane’s Footsie Handbook where I post info/details on certain techniques that everyone here should know. This is coming from someone who isn’t that great, so some of you will probably know half the stuff I’m gonna say while others will want to provide input. Anyway, I was thinking of starting entries in the blog on crouch/late teching, option selects, and just generally playing to a character’s strengths (might even add gimmicks in there). It should come with accompanying youtube clips showing the techniques in action and also commentary on when certain things are useful and what you have to watch out for. Overall I think this’ll help bring the skill level of the average player up and definitely provide some more competition within the state.

Max, thanks for the offer on the Mame files, but I’ll pass. I used to have the full rom set on there, but the list of games was so overwhelming that I would end up playing the same 5 games all the time. There literally are some 6,000 games in the set, though a lot of them are clones.

I’d be up for one of the Southwest AR gettogethers … I live about 30 minutes away from Texarkana and the group that does the area of Texas I’m in hasn’t had anything going on in ages.
I think we’ll be good on TVs. I actually just got a new monitor with HDMI so that makes for three displays we can use. For sure bring your console and sticks though.
