Not if you do it as they’re getting up.
Might as well do a TKD with cr.rh then init.
Think for a second. Why the hell would anyone whiff an attack in the air if the opponent is waking up??? You might as well pause the game and tell your opponent that you’re gonna try a demon.
And yeah Ororororo is right. True kara with a crouching RH in that situation is boom. And gay. A secret gay tactic.
i like to do super jump forward into immediate double jump back into air fireball, and activate demon on landing, followed by rh x 6.
Do you do a standing close mp launcher xx demon flip juggle after the stun? I would.
TKD?
Meh the more I play Kum the more I think demon setups are gay and not interesting at all. The whole game revolves around me trying to land that demon. Can you spell obsession? Now I’ll just do a TKD once in a while. I rather try to hitconfirm that cl.mk knee of doom for wicked damage on crouching opp. That and still tryin Kuroda juggles:cybot:
Change your game to revolve around landing SA1 off hit confirms, and anti air. If you keep playing with SA1 in mind - the opponent will create openings for you to land a demon
That this isn’t widely accepted hurts me. I like that cats like Jiro get love but if ppl are sniffing out your setups just do something they don’t expect. Hell, that’s the basic idea to 3s: Doing the unexpected.
If they expect something, do the other. Don’t two SA1’s do more fucking damage anyway? And don’t gimme that style crap either. Winning is more stylish than a failed demon setup.
Jiro’s performance at SBO last year is enough proof that free styling will get you killed. Most 3s players these days are not completely clueless about Akuma anymore…
You might be jump kicking in anticipation that the opponent will attempt to jump. Who knows. Point is there is spots to do it with a whiffed jump attack. Not everybody attacks you out of the air all the time. If the jump kick is unexpected then it can work.
I’m not saying this is a standard setup, but sometimes standard setups are too expected and you don’t get a chance with them.
One poor tourney showing is enough “proof” that Jiro’s style doesn’t cut it?
I don’t think that’s fair. Especially considering that Jiro has and does do well against top players in Japan. Everybody loses and has bad days. Jiro is no exception.
Jiro is clearly a weaker player than the more conservative Gouki players. It should be no surprise that Yuki and Kuroda play nothing like Jiro.
Jiro is Kamikaze. Everyone knows that. Fun to watch but obviously loses because of it.
While this is one of the easiest setups, I’d be afraid to actually try it. Unless I’ve trained my opponent to block every time I go for a wake up jump in attack, I’d be afraid of eating an anti-air move.
Jiro winning against a good player is usually a case of the good player having a bad day. I’ve seen him lose too many times against not-so-top players. No other Akuma player I’ve seen loses to those players.
No idea what you mean about the jump kick. They are waking up, and you’re anticipating a jump from them?
Anyways, whiff jump attack into demon is actually a good setup - but there’s a way to do it. Dot (and I think PaulT) have done it in matches.
Speaking of jumping setup, JR has spammed many of demons after jumpin’ over the opponent with j.lp. Though it looks too poor:(
It’s fairly easy to say that player x only wins when players y have an off day.
I haven’t seen Jiro play in person, but from the videos I have seen he does as well as any other Akuma. He gets his fair share of losses and has some spectacular wins.
He doesn’t appear to be any worse or lower tier than a lot of other Japanese Akuma’s.
Is he the best? Probably not, but only 1 person can be the best, so that puts many others in the same category of “not quite the best” as Jiro.
It’s just an example. Obviously the dynamic of a match is always changing, and what may work one time may not work another. The point is a whiffed jump attack is a viable demon set up, which you seem to agree with.
So if Kuroda beat you, right now, it’d be because you had an off day? An off day? Not his insane reflexes/overall skill; but your bad day? That’s a ridiculous theory that takes away any credit to the better player. Jiro makes poor decisions gameplay-wise and it costs him matches. Simple as that.
Fair share? Deshiken gets his fair share of losses. Ruu gets his fair share of losses. Jiro winning against top-tier/top players is fairly rare. There’s almost always some blatant mistake made by the other player to accompany his win.
Everyone’s not quite the best. And creating a huge category and putting Akuma players in there with Jiro is dumb. That’s like saying a hamburger not tasting as good as pizza is in the same category as fried shit on a bed of okra because it doesn’t taste as good as pizza either.

Fresh, perfect example of what I’m saying. ^
This really has no relevancy to my point, which is trying to discredit Jiro’s wins as an off day for who he beats as not being fair to Jiro.
Generally when you lose, you make a decision that costs you the match. Every player is guilty of this.
When you lose a match most of the time it is because of some blatant mistake made by you.
A fighting game is determined in part by decisions made. When one of those decisions goes bad, it is a “mistake”.
Let’s not forget Jiro’s style is high pressure, and high pressure generally forces the issue. Forcing the issue can force mistakes.
As far as the vids are concerned, I don’t see Jiro having a higher ratio of losses than alot of other Akuma’s, which is the point.
My point is simply in reference to the other good Japanese Akuma’s. not any Akuma player.
The dumb part is how you couldn’t figure that out.

You can’t really know that at all. What we can know is that he loses more to good players than say Yuki. So I have to agree with Raishin.
DEMON EVERYBODY NO MATTER WHAT!!!
