Most useful RD setups

If you do lk demonflip right after you recover from demon and then do a late dive kick cancel you will end up on the other side of the opponent. I’ve done it many times. As mentioned it can lead to a nice little mixup. Actually if you land a demon after you’ve hit them a few times and are able to bait them (many will want to punish the recovery of the dive kick so they press a button) into getting hit by the mk tatsu into mp/hp srk on the other side then that will kill or almost kill many chars. It can end a round in a flash. It’s not something to be abused but used in moderation it can really throw your opponent off, especially because there is a psychological slap that most feel after getting hit by raging demon.

I personally go for raging demon very rarely or when I want to style on someone. Landing a hit confirmed SA1 is a lot easier, deals decent damage (a lot on a crouching oponnent) and leads to a hard knockdown which in turn leads to offensive momentum and potentially to more damage.

I’m not saying that demon sucks or that people should ignore an opportunity to land it if they see one, I’m just saying that most of the time its better to use SA1 not to mention you can land two of them in 1 round.

Next time I get on I’m gonna check out those crossovers. I try to crossover mix up 50% of the time after I land SA1. Sometimes it can lead to huge damage sometimes it leads to a punish. It all depends on how confident you feel and how carefully your opponent has been reacting the entire match.

A crossover mix-up after a demon is definitely a go to setup.

I pretty much stick to dash forward demon unless im just using it to punish or antiair. Here are a few of my favorites, some of which I think have been mentioned but I’m not sure about one especially and the hour is far too late for me to reread the whole thread…

 1. Meaty air fireball, neutral jump or forward/super forward jump depending on spacing of course, and then dash forward demon so that the demon activates right after they get out of block stun (this is the one I don’t recall seeing)
 2. Dash forward once or twice, jump forward, or super jump forward at the beginning of a round when you have two bars already and depending on what they do, be ready to demon.
 3. Dash forward demon after a couple of crouching jabs or shorts whether they block or hit (two cr lks that hit might be the best because they might have already accepted the supposedly forthcoming super fireball combo).
 4. After scoring knockdown, whiff something like throw or overhead chop that makes it look like you mistimed a meaty or were expecting quickrise and then buffer demon or dash forward demon afterward as they block or try to tech a throw.
 5. Demon after blocked mk or hk tatsu if the opponent has shown anything less that mastery of punishing blocked tatsus
 6. There is one special one that ive nicknamed the jumping jab demon. It’s where you jump or super jump so that you land right behind them and then you just demon. Preferably, you start jabbing early in the jump so that the jab comes out loud and clear, just because it looks badass as fuck. Has anyone mentioned something like this yet?

I call this the Jrod demon

Yeah Poe, someone beat ya to it.

Late HK (not displayed) used to hide LPs? Nice, never thought about this!
Should work well with late fireballs too…

^^i know it works with late fbs but i never tried the late rh. shit’s nice

the dive back dash kara demon is funny, it actually lands too, pretty easy

Yeah but you’d have to train them to tech a throw after the dive kick or something right?

Is it ever wise to choose KKZ for wake up defense over Demon?

Also have any of you ever played around with a Dark Tien (out of an empty demon flip) version of KKZ. I got it to work without many tries but would it ONLY be useful to chip someone who gets knocked far away? Too random and situational for anything else?

the only thing i can think of is if you’re in the middle of an aegis setup and you KNOW urien’s coming at you and you wanna do more damage than demon.

either that or when your opponent is in the corner, doesn’t leave and you wanna chip them.

If aegis is right above gouki, KKZ will be stopped after first (unblockable) wave iirc. You have to keep that in mind if you want to chip them.
Not a big fan of the defensive KKZ (except for chip) over demon cause it’s usually easier to punish.
Anyway, wakeup KKZ/demon < wakeup teleport if you really want to do some reversal move (or simply avoid being chipped)…

So can you guys tell me a bit about the difference between demon and kara demon.
Why use regular demon ever if you’re really comfortable with the execution of the kara?
Is a kara demon more vulnerable, even a little?
I imagine there is at least a frame or two of the f+mp before the demon comes out. For example I feel much safer spacing it well and just plain dash demoning them if they’re waking up.

What about the visual que the raised hand gives?
For the life of me I can’t get the cr.hk kara demon to work right on a regular button setup.

I can’t think of any setup where a raw demon and a kara demon can be used interchangeably except for dash demon, and yeah in that case kara demon doesn’t really give any advantage. In the case of the cross under, demon, I tend to use a kara demon even though you don’t need the range just cause the couple frame delay that kara demon has just gives the opponent a little more time to be out of the reset state and therefore throwable.

I don’t think its possible for someone to react to the beginning of the chop unless you’re doing a TKD and even then thats insane reaction time. Also I gave up on any type of hk demon a while ago even though they look so cool.

dunno how useful these are, but they are funny/gimmicky (and cool looking if they work). I’ve got a bunch of other clips with similar whiffed normals (I was trying to compile a list of every whiff you could do) into demon. I even did like d+lp into demon which seems to be pretty hard to do.

air fb, demon.
empty jump, demon
empty divekick, demon
hk, demon
"I’ll catch you" demon after someone jumps.
demon after knockdown in the corner.
cmk lk tatsu, st lp demon.

the hardest/ best ones are:
jiro low parry kara demon/ low parry kara throw sggk.
st hk demon
kara demon
kara demon after parry
demon after someone parried something you did.

‘empty jump, demon’: I’m curious to see how you do this one.
Same for ‘cmk lk tatsu, st lp demon’…

I think he meant jumping over the oponent like if you would crossup but do the jab in the air and demon when you land

I think so but it’s not an empty jump anymore.
And i guess he also forgot to add dash in the second example i mentionned.
It may sound pedantic, but there’s no point in giving advices if they are wrong or incomplete, specially in a thread like this where all his suggestions have been given way before him.
Anyway, TNB is the king of those ‘advices’…

‘demon after knockdown in the corner’???
