Most popular arcade fighting games in Japan!

Fixed. Im SICK of seeing Shippu Ken and Genei Yun altogether. That prettty much 90% of the 3S players in japan.

stop hating!

A Pity win!

It’s only as “shitty” if you buy into the negative hype that it is…

I feel the same way.

Truth!

Word. Why so serious? :wonder:

Anyway I glad GGAC made the list. Am I’m the only one who is glad SF4 made the list?

because sfiv its not tvc, japan is hyped for tvc not sfiv

ggac is always on the list (and im really happy of that), and for sfiv, i really dont care, it was obvious that it would be in the list

who cares whats popular in Japan?

it seems that a lot of pepople

sadly that seems to be the case

you have to admit, that maybe you dont care but you can be curious on how it does your fav game in other places

DOA4 isn’t an arcade game. . .

because they know it will be trashed in 1 day

Actually your right, Thats interesting info to see, the problem is that since the list is from japan that everyone will see it as something out of the bible. The States have a nasty habit of following the lead of japan instead taking charge and creating there own thing.

“if japan plays or likes it, it must be good”

Or maybe they have an exclusive deal with MS and don’t give a shit about the floundering arcade scene.

well, i really dont know how it is there in usa, but at least here in honduras we really dont care, if we like the game we play the game

and the people who react that way its because they dont have own criterion, they are merely sheeps in a flock

i dont belive that they dont want to make money with the arcade scene when in japan is really strong

well considering that they have the largest fg scene in the world by a factor of like, oh 10 times over, what they do like should be noted at the very least.

blindly following anyones opinion aint good though.

good thing is tho, its not too hard (compared to the usa to find comp for obscure games if you know where to look.

It’s not about making money, it’s about how much money you make. With Sega closing down arcades recently, things aren’t looking amazing. I mean the arcade scene over there looks amazing compared to the shit fest here, but it is in decline.

They get the games first. They have the scene. Of course it good to note what games are doing well over there. We don’t even have HALF of the games they’re playing in the arcade today. So where else are you going to look to find out how well are game like Akatsuki, VF5R or Fate U/C is doing?

Seriously. Don’t know why people get so uptight about people and wanting to know stuff from Japan. It’s like you got in this inferiority complex that we should just focus on shit here and doing otherwise makes you Japan-dick riding ass. While at times this can be true as well, (some people are just naturally infatuated with Japan) if there was a huge booming arcade scene in England, you damn well know I’d be looking that shit up too to see how shit was going.

unfortunatly you have a point there, it will be sad if the strongest arcade scene die like in other places died, lets hope that this never happen and pray for the resurrection of the a.s in the world.

and for sega closing arcades, all of us know that sega doesnt work in a coherent way

the truth

That I understand, I enjoy alot of stuff thats “japan” based as well and when it comes to some of the best players its usually japan. My problem lays when games no one has heard of or didn’t care about at 1st aka gundam games suddenly get attention “because the japanese play it” Man if the States would have followed suit with Marvel ggpo…

And we SHOULD just focus on things here, following up behind whats hot in japan as far as fighters go isn’t going to get us ANYWHERE here.

We don’t necessarily have to follow suit. In fact, I prefer we don’t. It just fine to know what’s hot and what’s not. Especially since we don’t have access to the same things until later, if at all. If we had the same kind of arcade scene as Japan, I would honestly be saying, fuck it, we got shit better here. But, we don’t. Naturally where the best players live is where a lot of people want to get their information. Should we copy them? No. USA/Canada is different. Can we take ideas from them? Yes. They got the shit.

We have Gundam vs Gundam in our local arcade and it’s the hottest thing for all the asian fobs we have. It’s actually pretty fun if you know how to play.

well, its the same thing that it hapens here, if we want to see the best players of mvc2 we see what the usa players do, if we want to see about hnk and gg we see what the japanese do, its only a matter of common sense, still we dont need to follow all what they do, if that happens where is the originality, ah2 is hot in japan but here its inexistence the same goes for gundam, btw pro evolution roks hard here

The thing is that fighting games have become a genre by Japan, for Japan. Knowing what’s selling over there can give us an idea of what kinds of new games to expect in the near future.

The only fighting game developers who care about the American market anymore are Capcom, Arc, & to a lesser extent Namco.

SFIV isn’t combo heavy. I think that has reason for its relative unpopularity. Also the SF brand isn’t as dominant as it is in the US, where stuff like SNK and VF didn’t take off.

As for UM, it’s a great game, but it was a quickie port, SNK made its profits and then some, so they’re happy.

I’m not really surprised by either development, though I’m kinda saddened, as that means I’ll enjoy the stuff coming out less and less most likely.
