Most boring/hated stretches of generally good games

YES. YES YES YES. I HATE swimming levels and underwater levels with a passion. They take so much time and are so boring.

Also, the Library level on the first Halo. No first person shooter level should take and hour and a 1/2 to finish.

What was wrong with Rio on Veteran? The Mansion level in the forest was waaaaaaaaaay more annoying. Hated that shit.

Gotta agree with the Wind Waker Triforce hunt. You only gave me four real dungeons, and this is what you give me instead? Fuck you , Nintendo. Also, anytime I have to collect a bajillion whozits, flim-flams, or whatchamacallits in a game in order to see the best ending… Looking at you N64-era Rare platformers.

Oh shit, how could I forget that little gem?

At first, I wasn’t too upset about it. Back in 2001, me and my little brother were co-oping through campaign, and its totally awesome and blowing our mind. The whole build-up to the Flood is genius stuff, and I think its one of gaming’s coolest moments(plus, they’re basically space zombies and generally creepy). That little sound they make haunt me in my sleep as a kid. Anyway, you see them fighting off the Covenant too, so the game got pretty interesting, and then that little Monitor guy shows up and tells you you gotta go activate Halo to save the universe from the Flood. No biggie right?

WRONG NIGGA.

Because this level is super fucking long, with you(and your brother you forced to come with you) are gonna spend the next hour or so shotgunning through space zombies in endless corridors that all look exactly the same, as that little annoying fucker that you can’t shoot flies around talking about “HaHA, I am a genius” and not helping out at all.

And it gets even worse in “Cortana” in Halo 3. Right after the best level in the whole trilogy of campaigns, “The Covenant”, a level that showcases everything good about Halo campaigns, you get this piece of shit; a level that showoffs everything wrong with them. Unskippable, irritating story breaks? Check. Endless corridors that all look the same? Check. Enemy AI that boil down to “raw rush at him”? Check. Backtracking through the entire level? Oh, big ass check. I can’t believe Bungie put that in the game, especially after all the hate for the Library.

The last boss in Dodonpachi Daioujyo made me cry

“Bullet Witch” for the Xbox 360. Most horrible game I’ve ever played on the Xbox 360. You should know what I’m talking about if you’ve played this game. I got tricked into buying it because of the sexy-ass cover. Wasn’t worth it. If you’ve never played this game before, don’t play it. Just playing any part of it made me not want to play it anymore. I hated everything about this game. Except the main character. She’s hot.

I can’t believe two people have mentioned Final Fantasy X games and they didn’t mention the fucking Cloister of Trials! Fuck that FUCKING BULLSHIT.

This had nothing to do with the rest of the game, there were no enemies, they were just boring fucking mazes and by the end they were DIFFICULT AS HELL. I stopped trying after a while and just went step by step with a YouTube vid. This really pissed me off. At times I never thought I would reach the end of the level. How frustrating.

I can’t believe that nobody has said that part in Metal Gear Soild when Frank Jager AKA Gray Fox dies by Liquid Snake. His speech was too emo for me.

I’m sorry, but I’m LOL’ing hard. MGS3 was the only one I didn’t play like hell because I couldn’t get into the whole survival management thing.

Exactly what I came in here to say. They get you all pumped up with some dizzying Sonic level, and then have you do something tedious like this.

Oh Lord, I had blocked that Cortana garbage out of my mind until you brought it up! My sentiments exactly!

Skies of Arcadia: The first time you go through South Ocean. The wind, the random battles, the Eterni :wasted:

Sonic Adventure 1/2: Agreed with Infernoman…especially getting all A’s on those hunting missions, that was a serious pain in the ass.

Breath of Fire 3 desert area… WHY??? Why are you making me WALK in RANDOM DIRECTIONS for 45 MINUTES!!! STOP!!! Oh and if you run out of water… fuck it… just fuck it all to hell delete your save it’s not worth it playing the game anymore.

Breath of Fire 4 grassy area. Not as long as BOF3 desert area but EQUALLY AS ANNOYING! WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT UP OF THIS STUPID SHIT!!!

Didn’t play MGS3 so that ladder shit was hilarious to me as well. Two minutes of climbing a ladder? Fuckin serious?

I’m going to have to say that the majority of Assassin’s Creed 2 was boring. It’s plenty fun when you’re actually killing people, but the whole walking and blending in shit was stupid. It was also tedious, same mission over and over. Same strategy over and over. Not to mention the boss battle is stupidly easy. I have no idea how people love this game.

The Water Temple in Ocarina of Time.

The triforce hunt in Wind Waker

The underground level in FF IV with the dwarves.

Final Fantasy X-2. I stopped playing as soon as those dumb bitches jumped in the water on Mount Gadgetzet or whatever the fuck it’s called.

World of Warcraft level 40-50. Fuck.

Crisis Core- Having to chase Doctor What’shisface and listening to Gensis go on and on about that god damn book.

Any escort mission. Seriously, I understand that game designers want to switch it up, but why punish us? Seriously.

Stealth missions in games that aren’t based around stealth. Fuck.

Grand Theft Auto; The Lost and Damned- Having to do the 7th mission in a row where you kill bikers and the story hasn’t gone any-fucking-where. I need to pick this game back up, but it’s seriously irritating me.

Xenogears- I stopped at that point where I’m in prison. 40 hours into the game and I have no fucking clue what the fuck is going on because the plot has gone NO WHERE.

Final Fantasy XII- I stopped after having to do that matching game in archadia so I could get that wooden ticket or whatever to get on the fucking train.

Really, and this goes for most games I’ve played, the one thing that kills me is when there really is no story development in a timely manner. I think games have gotten better about this, but for the most part, it’s still a problem. Games are a form of entertainment and I want to be entertained, or at least engaged. It seems like most jrpgs simply have the worst pacing of any form of entertainment. Nowadays my time is so limited I want to jump in feet first and enjoy myself. I’ll stick around for a plot that’s a slow burn if I’m at least doing something interesting, but most of the time it feels like I’m being handed busy work because the developers had to justify all the time they put into the game while I feel like I’m going no where.

any mmo early one where you have to go to one part of another area walking. WoW is guilty of this big time and FFXI

and i agree with this guys commentary and level of Fear… especially the table blocking the door.

oh and this gran theft auto 3 mission

10 fucken minutes of following someone and redo fuck me if you got to close.

Kingdom Hearts 1- Alice in Wonderland Arc: Find the evidence

Damn i hated this part! I hate having to go look for stuff, even if some of them are easy to find. For some reason I get big headaches when Im forced to go look for things in games.

Any game where there is massive amount of reading involved (Star Wars: Old Republic 1, Im looking at you!!). When you are playing a game, you want to play, NOT READ!!! If I want to read, ill go read a book or something.

chapter 9 of dead space. Dont really think its a boring spot, i just got bored of the game around that time

FUCKING TRIBALS in Jet Force Gemini. Collecting these little bitches is a pain in the ass. Some of them are easy as hell to find but there are a handful which pissed me off because they are hiding in such random places and other times they start running toward you IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIREFIGHT and if they die you gotta do that shit over. I remember keeping track of the collected ones was also ass so I wasted time doing shit that had already been done. Damn those things really drove me crazy back in the day…

Agreed, those little bugs killing you in one hit what the fuck

WoW (1-70 sucks in general unless you RAF yourself to 60, but some personal favourites):

Call of Water for Shamans (both factions).
Levelling in Barrens/Thousand Needles.
Outland. All of it. I have no problem with Northrend, takes me half as long to go from 70~80 as it does from 58/60~69.

Else:

MGS3 Ladder, yeah.
The 8-bit theatre stage in Persona 4.
FFX, opening sequence/arc, before Tidus wakes up on the beach.
FFX-2. Pretty much all of the game EXCEPT the opening arc.
Battletoads - you know which stage. Had to be said.
