garbage. that 8 minute trailer from a while ago was pure shit. grounding mk into realism is fucking stupid. i hope that web series fails. i just want my r rated remake of mk that makes the first mk look like childs play. id only probably support the web series because i fucks with michael jai, but other then that, fail, fuck it.
OK Warner Bros. has officially come out with information on it now. Looks like it’s not going to be based off of Kevin’s view of MK and more on the actual game universe. I’m pretty optimistic on this especially after seeing the live action Street Fighter short. If smaller budget and less time actually equals more faithful than anything Hollywood has produced then I’m down.
I’m not hoping it fails, but I did think trying to make MK more realistic was a ridiculous decision. Making reptile suffering from that harlequin disease? Pretty fuckin lame if you ask me. How do you expect to explain Shang Tsung? Some guy who changes outfits really quick?
Yeah it’s supposed to be MORE realistic, not entirely.
It really just needed modernized a little bit to make the story a little less ridiculous.
Also, they have said this series won’t be completely based on that short, it will be a different direction altogether (which probably means it won’t be as mature in tone as that trailer looked)
Ah the ridiculousness was half the fun of MK. It’s like a videogame version of Big Trouble in Little China. A more serious take tho could be really really cool for this series tho. That Subzero pic looks pretty sweet and it’s got a neat mythology you could do some cool shit with. Honestly I like MK a lot whenever it’s not being a fighting game. That live action show was pretty cool (despite the ending). MK Shaolin Monks was fucking awesome and they should do a lot more of that awesome fuckin shit.
So I’m down to check out these webisodes. I hope Sub and Scorp are awesome they are the best two characters in this series lol.
Tomorrow!! I’m totally stoked and can’t wait to watch it. At the same time I know I’m going to get irritated afterwards since we’re going to have to wait who knows how long for the next webisode, and who knows how long from that until the entire thing is wrapped up.
I wish that the movie would get greenlit after this and they used these webisodes as prequel/introduction to a MK movie. The movie would be a stand-alone but fans would benefit more having watched the stuff beforehand, kind of like the Firefly series and the Serenity movie.
