Mortal Kombat Deception: Official Thread

This game sucks. It’s just Deadly Alliance but worse. Deadly Alliance had much better extras. The extras on this game are dumb and they have less of them. Some of the new characters are worthless and have horrible desings. Like Dairou, Darius, Havik, Hotaru, ,and Ashra. I was really hoping they would do so much more with this game. Using the Deadly Alliance engine is not a bad thing. The DA engine is good engine, and it’s pretty flexible too. You can tear off clothing and make characters have bruises. They just did a terrible job with this game all around. The extras are stupid too…puzzle and chess mode??? The konquest mode was pretty cool. But this game really was a disappointment. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this game a 5. Here’s what i’d like to see in the next mortal kombat.

Fighters:
Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Lui kang, Kano, Kung Lao, Baraka, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Kitanna, Milenna, Jade, Tanya, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Noob/ Smoke, Rain, Cyrax, Sindel, Frost, Ermac, Raiden, Nightwolf, Kabal, Kira, Kobra, Jax, Bo Rai Cho, Le Mei, Goro, Emperor, the female goro, that centaur guy, Kenshi, Mavado, and Onaga.

Mount’s better, no more 5 second guessing game when you mount them, that new taunt/backdash that goes into VT stance is good, his ground game is better(his df+3 is faster, has a tiny bit more range, and leads into a number of things, like his 1-2 jabs, or VT stance, or INTO ITSELF(only once). All in all, he’s much better than he used to be.

Thanx for the Marduk info. Did Namco mess with his air throw at all, from playtesting to the now final release? I recall many saying it did too much damage. (Is df+3, 1, d+2, d+4 still his best bnb combo?)

Now all I have to do is find an arcade which has Tekken 5 (8OTB…?) and time to go play it. Cannot wait.

Air Throw does good damage, since b+4 is no more, and I don’t think df+3, 1, d+2, 4 is much better damage…=/ I’ll check.

WHAT!!!1 His b+4 bazooka kick isn’t in Tekken 5!!! That was one of my fav moves…even though it was slow and risky to just throw out at random, the BOOM! effect it had made up for that IMHO.

The sad part is, more people are impressed with the combo videos than any of the match videos

Side note: On december 26 will be a tourney here…we are expecting about 40+ people. We have contacted EVERYONE who play MK competitively and invited them for that day…even ninja_grinder received an invitation… everithyng will be tapped as direct feed but including the peoples yells and stuff…we are hopping to have a good thing that day! BTW: to your request about the “throwing disabled” option…prepare to see the same level of destruction but this time with a few ridicolous throws in…

scrubs are loving this game, how do you tell them it’s shitty and make them understand, a lot of ppl have been telling how great the new mk is and when I tell them about sf3ts they’re like wtf lolz sf sucks bitch.

By “stupid high” I will venture to guess it doesn’t have its weird T4 properties, like being able to hit people when rolling, or hit Christie out of her RLX stance (IIRC you could do this…either that or it would easily knock her out of RLX stance moves; been way too long since I played the game to remember with 100% accuracy.)

Nonetheless if he has cool/damaging juggles with his other moves/airthrow/etc. I guess it’s all good.

If you have people to play then yeah, I’d say it’s worth buying (I may give you a different answer after NEC5 though…too much broken stuff in the gameplay.) If you happen to confront MKD lovers you’re pretty much wasting your time; after all, everyone has different tastes. (If you know people who would rather play MKD as opposed to 3S I suggest you stay away from those people altogether)

Single player gets old fast…and yes UMK3 is the best MK ever, no doubt.

Exactly. And you could hit Christie with damn near anything before she fully sat down…;_; All juggles currently revolve around the airthrows, since one gives you a dash in mixup, and the other gives ozi.

I recall thinking something similar when MKDA was released…maybe next year. And here we are, MKD is out, and look what we got. :xeye: The only thing I want of Midway now (and I’ll prolly never see :sad: ) is an arcade perfect port of UMK3. I have no trust/faith in them to deliver a fighting game with a solid fighting system. I was really looking foward to MKD too, much moreso than MKDA.

My advice - play UMK3.
