I agree with you re: the “fun in a way” remark; I’ve certainly played fighters that were much more horrendous than MKD. There’s something about the game, can’t explain it, and that something is why I haven’t completely given up on it (yet?)

I played Tekken 5 at 3 of the beta tests, and it’s coming along really damn good I think. They made the game to appeal to the ttt and the t4 players. T4 kinda split the community in half, and T5 so far has the interest of both groups, so I have a feeling T5 will be a pretty big hit in the Tekken community, anyway.

Darick learned (scrubbed) from the chicago trip he went on shortly before that tourney. (where he lost to me blindfolded =p) But of course, he deserves the ecc9 win for picking it up hella fast. And hes correct about knowing what would work on you “noobs”. You guys got exploited.

bill stopped progressing umk3 back in '96. We all know this and he will admit it. Theres no reason for anyone to consider him a UMK3 champ of any kind since he dropped it when it was still a fetus. He came to chicago to see how the game evolved and we all know how that went.
prophet: practice j.HP linker into the 7-hit until your hands bleed. That should be 95% of your air-to-ground attacks. Theres no reason to do the 3-hit or vanilla jumpkick. Also, you didnt sweep nearly enough. Good timing on the airthrows tho, esp. the quick one right after a whiffed sweep. thats hella key.
with the looks of things, no one has really developed runjab game on offense or defense, thus not even being close to top-tier. darick played an elementary runjab offense and no one knew what to do about it (was it paced too fast?)
Anyways, I hope someday you guys can beat chicago fair and square, cos you certainly put a lot of effort into this game, but shit like this makes it seem way far off heh.

I don’t think I played Darick more than 4 times and won two each I believe, and I also didn’t use top tier characters for each match. I might have used Smoke once, and won that one that for sure so there was no “exploiting” there, or even enough matches to judge by statistcal data, that’s a joke. All I know is I won more matches throughout the day than any person there, that is fact, even with little to no practice on sticks in general (let alone shitty imprpperly installed ones), whereas all the other people there except the Prophet, play on them exclusively, to near-exclusively. I actually have grown to hate sticks because I know the keyboard, when used to it’s full potential, is far and beyond the superior control device, with no binding or any macros or anything, just simply the way it’s set up, GosBroDansFan will back me up on that. Sit everyone down (or stand them up) in an environment where everyone is happy with the input, and we’ll see, that’s all I ask for. Back in the day when I was going places and playing all the time, it wouldn’t have bothered me, now I know what a lot of people don’t know, and since it’s available, I say take it. If anyone got exploited it was Julian! =D He was exploited into selecting Sektor vs Kabal! What mind control!
Ryan, don’t even finish the 7 hit, Lex is deceiving to you! Stick the standing HK or LK or nothing at all on the end on the right characters, it’s more damage with the kick, and leaves you closer to them afterwards with run halfway recharged, and a sets you up for a free HK, backbreaker, or chipped combo afterwards, depending on what they do.

Mount’s better, no more 5 second guessing game when you mount them, that new taunt/backdash that goes into VT stance is good, his ground game is better(his df+3 is faster, has a tiny bit more range, and leads into a number of things, like his 1-2 jabs, or VT stance, or INTO ITSELF(only once). All in all, he’s much better than he used to be.
Only the tournament counts, even if an uneven number of players leaves circumstances remaining in which you don’t actually play the guy.

Come on man, try and keep it serious. The sad part is, more people are impressed with the combo videos than any of the match videos, the intent was to peak interest in the game in general, not to say “Try this shit out on your friends.” and it worked, and I think that kind of upsets you.
Bottom line is Darick isn’t better than anyone who is in anyway considered good, but he still managed to win the tourny. I would consider Prophet to be better than me, but I beat him in the tournament. So I’m better than him for the day? My case and point. You were not there.
I don’t think Julian played Darick at all before the tourny and didn’t have a whole lot of time to learn what he did with Reptile, but regardless, the tourny came down to Kabal vs Sektor because he could beat Darick’s Reptile within one set of tourny matches. I don’t know what Julian was thinking, but maybe the tournament didn’t mean anything to him by that point and that was his way of showing it. You have to know the pure facts, and I’m telling you them, that “tournament” was messed up, I was merely a participant. The tourny at NEC5 will be run by the Prophet and myself, and we will ensure everyone is as happy as possible. We want as many people to show as humanly possible, be it Chicago, NJ, Virginia, Ohio, Philly, NY, Cali, Belgium, Germany, Colombia, Venezuela and so on and so forth. Also,

i’m gonna say yes the tournament was run poorly, even though my boy john v ran it he had no idea how to run a tournament.
example: i was in winner’s semi finals, then i got put into losers bracket, then i end up playing 4 people in a row in the losers bracket, just because they were available and around the machine, that was his process of running the brackets. if there was two people in the same side of the bracket there they would play regardless of where they were in that side of that bracket. i ended up winning 5 matches, losing 2, in a 12 person tournament and getting 5th, doesn’t make a lot of sense.
and i don’t see what was wrong with the sticks, they put in brand new 360’s day before the tournament, i know i helped put them in.
maybe 360’s aren’t good for UMK3? i personally had no problem with them in casual or in the tournament
but that’s besides the point, i beat derrick every match in casual, wish i got to play him in tournament, and whoever won didn’t matter anyway, still scrubs compared to chicago
