I just want it for Konquest Mode since its using the Shaolin Monks engine. The game looks like its gonna play like ass though, I don’t think jumping and air combos are enough to save it. Boon was asked in the last interview wether or not a wake up game would be added, he said its something he would like and “might” look into. :bluu: The throw system needs to be fixed, it sucks, and this whole “Kreate a Fatality” system seems crappy IMO. One thing I always liked about MK, no matter how shitty it was, was collecting all the alaties in the game, won’t be doing that in this one.
Eh I guess it was just an attachment born of the arcades I frequented when I was much younger, I like MK games regardless of how crappy they tend to be. I don’t buy them anymore (or well I only bought Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3) but I find myself interested enough to rent every iteration.

I’m liking Konquest too. Shaolin Monks was good, and Konquest isn’t too dumbed down from it. From what I hear, you don’t have to play it to unlock everything in the game. Oddly, that’s what I like best about it. It’s almost optional story instead of the “forced on you” route of MKD and Soul Calibur 3 (not that I didn’t like SC3).
I also like the Kreate-A-Fatality system so far.
I would love it if they just made great fatalities, but even those all “die” one day.
KAF seems to inject a little variety and purpose into fatalities. You get currency for them and there could be a lot of combos.
I’ll sacrifice different camera angles in a fatality for that.
Also… the MK team is planning to put wake-up attacks in. I don’t know if it’ll work though.

I may say MKA can’t possibly be 100% fixed from MKD, but I’m curious to see what can change. Parries now don’t look like the cheese I saw in the first MKA vids.

If they plan on incorporating 60 characters and modifying the air combo system AND including a wake-up attack system this is going to be utterly unplayable in a competitive setting outside fun.

Red pants. Red Shirt. Black boots. Red Beret. Shin Gaurds. Guantlets. Cape. Black Karate Gi. A reddish brown skintone. Red gloves. Red Eyes. Sandals. That hairstyle on Akuma.
Capcom hasn’t sued any WWE game makers, Namco, Mugen, cosplayers, etc.
I doubt they even care anymore. All they have left that they can rerelease is Street Fighter 1, Street Fighter the Movie, Street Fighter EX, Rival Schools, and Final Fight.
I doubt they would take the time in any of those games to make fun of Mortal Kombat.

If Capcom does try dropping the hammer, I’m not sure they’ll have much of a case. If MKA Akuma’s not doing the hurricane kick, the shoryuken, the hadoken (in the exact pose), and the Shun Goku Satsu, then the suit won’t go that far. I’m sure other CAF modes made characters shockingly similar to the “target.”

Anybody who says MKA will be good just because it’s bound to please them for a while doesn’t know what a good video game is, pure and simple. Same goes for those DOA fans.
What they don’t understand is that beyond all the eye candy, flashy features and bizarre story telling that developers can cram in, it’s still JUST a game. It’s true what they say; games are meant to be played for fun. So if a game doesn’t measure up to better gameplay standards, doesn’t that mean it’s a bad game?
There’s no excuse for pinning competitive value as the reason why a game isn’t fun. Competitiveness is the very thing that determines a fighting game’s lasting value. Without that, you kill the purpose in even BOASTING about getting to play against other people, which, if I’m not mistaken, is what attracted so many people to SF2 when it first appeared and led to so many imitators, INCLUDING the now-obtuse MK.
Which do you people seriously think is more fun? A game that’s shallow but coated with pointless visuals, or a game that can be played at any competitive level while keeping said pointless visuals secondary?
GAMEPLAY IS WHAT’S MOST IMPORTANT. That is the one thing indicative of a game’s worth, no matter what the genre.
Bad GAMEPLAY = bad GAME. Period.
I played it at E3 and it was fucking horrible. Seemed almost the same as trashy ass deception. Got bored after 2 or 3 matches.

DOA4 isn’t a bad game, though. In a way it’s a simplified Virtua Fighter, a high-speed rock/paper/scissors game with unequal risk:reward.
That’s the only problem, though. The new Mortal Kombat games DO suck hard, you are right about that.

Everyone should just break out UMK3 on 360 when it comes out. I have no faith in MKA, they better test the Hell out of the air combo system…did I say test?
My only reason for getting this game is the create a character, and the SM style Konquest.
I always enjoy seeing the fatalities, and the unlockables however.
I KNOW this game will be unbalanced and not really fun. Boon’s team can’t even balance a game with around 18 people.
How the fuck will they do this?
I just hope the hidden game mode is worth considering. I hope it is another Konquest for 4 players with created characters.
