Mortal Kombat, anyone?

“Best” is always an opinion, unless you define what best is.

No, you can disagree with anything you’d like to. I could disagree that the sky is not blue, I’d be wrong, but I could still disagree while looking like a fool. UMK3 is the best and can be proven. One way is that it’s had the most tournaments of any MK game. It’s still being played on and offline, and being played more than any other MK game. It’s the most balanced MK, and the bottom tier have won tournaments before. I could go on if you’d like.

Something being the best is not always an opinion…

Actually, Sakura’s opinions (at least the ones I’ve read) about MvC2 are right on the money…

I like the game, I take it seriously. But you can’t deny it is a extremely, ridiculously flawed game. And if it wasn’t for its fun factor I would go as so far as to say it is a terrible game.

That’s an interesting list. Funny how you MK1 at the bottom, i have funny childhood memories of that one…

What made the deadly Alliance games so bad? I’ve never really played them so I don’t know, except this one time a friend invited me to play at house gathering and impaled me with a sword as sub-zero. That seemed such bullshit.

sigh

OPINION:

  1. a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.
  2. a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.

FACT:

  1. something that actually exists; reality; truth
  2. something known to exist or to have happened

What did you do here? You created a strawman argument. “IT HAS TEH MOST TOURNIEZ!” Um…OK. Proof? What, you gonna link an internet article? It’s still being played offline? So is every other game. Most balanced? Again, opinion. Bottom tier wins? Who created those tiers? Dhalsim just won Japan Nationals and he was considered close to the bottom on SF4 too.

The sky is blue is a fact, not an opinion. We know this because we can look up and see blue (for the sake of the argument, we’ll assume it’s not gloomy). Donkey Kong being better than Pac-Man is not a fact because it can not be proven. It’s a personal preference.

Guess what you did in this thread? It can’t be “proven.” Hence, the point. It’s an opinion. Facts are supported by gasp facts! You might think it’s the best, I disagree. It comes down to individual criteria…which is, shocker, all opinion. You never even stated what you think constitutes it being “better.” High-end play? Casual play? Sold more copies? Appeals to more people? Ages better? It’s a silly argument and I realize it’s the internet and no one will admit when they’re wrong. Pretty sure the definition of opinion backs up my side. Maybe they don’t teach that in Georgia but they do in Pago Pago.

UMK3 is the best MK, game play wise, is fact.

Saying otherwise is simply, wrong. If UMK3 isnt the best MK, prove me wrong.

And dont confuse things “I LIKE” with “THE BEST”.

MKDA-MKA should be the last 3 of the actual MK figthers, with MK3 before MKDA, or not at all, simply due to the fact its obsolete. UMK3 is a revision of MK3, thus eliminating it completely. UMK3 is stlll considered MK3, due to the fact UMK3 isnt considered MK4.

The burden of proof is on the hands of the proclaimer, good sir.

Exactly. Nothing. UMK3 is #1 in the series. Thank you.

Dude, stfu honestly. I didn’t read what you posted, nor do I care what you have to say. I’m tired of people arguing just for the sake of arguing, it’s fucking annoying.

And Tim, yeah you’re right. Basically just wanted to show that UMK3 and MKII are the top MK games.

:clapdos:

Very good.

I like how in MK punches and kicks connect and you kind of “feel” it, instead of clicks and flashes…

rofl

I’ve just read his/her work in the new MvC2 thread, and you’re right. I apologize and I’ll edit my previous post

About flaws in games, I believe games should be judged on their merits, and not so much on their flaws. SF2WW is incredibly flawed, but still much better that the very balanced and clean of bugs Yie Air Kung Fu. That’s an opinion, and not a fact :china:

Tim, when you gonna tell me why MK: DA sucked so hard? I want to know, because I always meant to play that game, but never got the chance.

If you knew anything about MK or the MK scene (which you obviously don’t), you wouldn’t be asking for “proof” or posting something this stupid.

UMK3 is the only game that was involved in recent major tournaments offline. UMK3 is the only game prior to Deception that was put online. UMK3 is the only MK game accepted outside the MK community as being worth playing. These are not opinions, they are FACTS. If this weren’t the case, then why has no other MK game gotten as much attention and play as UMK3, even nearly 15 years after it came out?

Who creates the tiers for the SF games, Tekken games, or any fighter for that matter? Oh, that’s right, the players do. Are you going to now go into every thread on this forum and question those tier lists too? I dare you to say that Chun, Ken, or Yun being the best in Third Strike is an opinion. The tiers are based on actual aspects of the game, not some made up-shit where you thinking this character is better makes it so.

No, it didn’t. There are only two tiers in high level play in MK2. Jax - Mileena tier, and shit tier. That’s it. But again, if you knew anything about MK instead of trying to act like you did, you wouldn’t have said it.

There’s no reason to play MKDA if you’ve played anything after. You’re not gonna be playing anything different. The majority of the MK community cried because there was only one fatality per character and no stage fatalities. Though that has nothing to do with why it sucked at all. It sucked because it was incomplete. Glitches, infinites, ect. I wasn’t lying when I said it took you longer to recover from a punch than it took your opponent to recover from blocking it. You could literally counter one “jab” with an entire combo just by blocking it.

It was also the massive “Krypt” system that was so retarded. You literally had to unlock about 9 characters by having to find them hidden among 676 “coffins”. I wish I were making that up. Rest of the shit was nothing but random images, stages, or other shit that was meaningless.

Edit: I say “jab” because even the fastest “punches” in that game still take about a whole second to perform and recover from.

That is the most broken shit I have ever heard.

I love how the go-to defense in every thread on these forums is exactly the same:
MK thread: "You just don’t know how to play…maaaaaaan"
Smash thread: "You just don’t know how to play…maaaaaaan"
SF4 thread: "You just don’t know how to play…maaaaaaan"
Alpha thread: "You just don’t know how to play…maaaaaaan"
Tekken thread: “You just don’t know how to play…maaaaaaan”

Yes, 'cause I’ve not been playing competitive MK2 for over a decade.

 Good shit Bunny, nice explanations.

I’ve had similar discussions soo many times before, it just gets old.

Lot of beasting in this post but this is serious shit right here. That game is so fucking fun and unreal. Id love to see it on XBL somehow (the trackball shit would be hard to implement) but it would be so awesome. One arcade about 45 mins from me has 2 machines and I’m dying to go play it. I posted a tier list for it in the “tiers for non-fighting games” thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait is it that game with the ball used for aiming, and it was like a third person shooter with one special ability for each character? That game was fun. I hardly ever seen it in the arcades though even when they were somewhat popular.

Pwn’d

But for the record, MKII is online on PS3. And it remains a top download on PSN, and has been since it came out almost 2 years ago. It has a huge following, and as a matter of fact, just before UMK.com forums ceased, we had a 32 player tourney and had to turn down 3 or 4 people as well.

But, +1 for the post. :bgrin:
