Many thanks OmniSScythe for the link and the time stamp. I don’t watch stream, so if there are any excellent Morrigan players in them I usually miss out. I appreciate you taking the time to post the link. =)
all versions of soul fist and soul drain do the same amount of damage so unless you want to be super tight with how much time you want to give them to move around, it wont hurt to throw a few meter fireballs in there
is it me or does that soul drain AV combo sound super sexy in japanese? no weeaboo/weirdo, but that’s the apex of morrigan tech right there. stealing bars and level3ing to finish someone off just takes the cake. if phoenix gets caught in that she’s done, and if a mixup on a high-damage level3 xfactor character like wesker, wolverine, dante or strider happens, that game is just about over. i can’t wait to see if more morrigan players can execute like that in tournament settings.
Well, the problem with 90% of these combos is they either take XFC or a very specific assist. Actually getting into a mirror image combo is intentionally very difficult, and I haven’t figured out a work around for my team yet. When I get it though, definitely.

OmniS could u share the notation for the combo u did, using Soul Fist Loop, plox? (The morrigan part) Btw does that loop works on the entire cast? Im trying to figure it out by myself, i did at the 2nd SF xx unfly, but the other char seems too far way to connect the j.MMHxxSF.
Thanks for ur time
those are all L soul fists in that vid right?
1st ones light the rest are heavy

I’ve been trying to run Team Darkstalkers and was wondering if anyone here could help me out? I’ve been doing Felicia (Rolling Buckler)/Ko (Pendulum)/Morrigan (Soul Fist.) Does anyone who play Team DS have any general advice?
I don’t play the team (no real serious tournament players seem to any way) but I would say it’s an ok team. You want to set up the team so it has the strongest assists available and can deal with the most start of round crap well. Soul Fist assist is a shitty assist for space control/pressure (you’ll get owned up by beams, missiles and tatsus all day).
I would suggest running Morrigan (harmonizer) / Hsien Ko (Pendulum) / Felicia (rolling buckler) so that way you get access to a character that does really well and can control all areas of the screen without assists. She has a lot of cheap normals that are really hard to poke at and good health at 950k. Which means even if you’re not doing a ton of damage per combo you can kill people and control the area just by pelting them with your hit boxes until they’re gone. Which means you’re doing a lot of nice meter build for Hsien Ko also (anchor Felicia doesn’t need meter).
Morrigan also really likes the help of a low assist so she can set up unblockable situations off her air dash ins. She can do a solid high/low job by herself but it really goes up with a nice lockdown assist that hits low like Felicia.
If you kill a character and get Hsien Ko in there you can spam reflect projectiles while calling Morrigan to get free meter if she’s still alive. This will force them to move in on you because if they don’t get in Hsien Ko will have a shit ton of meter for armor and then you become a really big problem unless they have a beam super (and a lot of meter for that beam super really). You can then decide whether you want to move in and pressure with armor meter and lockdown assist or just switch Morrigan back in so she has armored assist to pressure along with the rolling buckler. You can also just start going in with armored Hsien Ko and do shenanigans like call Felicia assist and then dash behind them right before the assist hits to cross them up and put them in combos.
Felicia in the back is great because she doesn’t need assists to stop advance guards (pretty much all of her special moves allow her to just dash right back in). She also gets combos off all of her throws regular or command grab based so you can just whore people with 1 frame regular throws or her 5 frame L command grab with big range. She has one of the fastest jumps in the game so when you’re in XF3 you can pretty much just mash on uf+H and if you hit them put them in a combo and if you grab them you put them in a combo too. You can also do resets to save meter if you want where you just mash on uf+H again and if they guess wrong they die. You can throw M cat spike in there during the reset if you think they’re going to try to tech your throw which will ground bounce them and kill them also. Felicia IMO is a scarier anchor than Wesker so she’s great if everything else goes bad. Basically if you force them to block you should be able to kill them near instantly. Especially since you get your own super assist with kitty helper.
No…
no no no no no.
That means you will lose to every single zoning team as soon as the round starts, as well as any team running strider assist and probably most running doom missiles. It’s setting yourself up for a lot of failure.
Having played against a ton of obnoxious Chrisis zoning teams and a lot of FChamp zoning teams, it’s not going to end well if you have no horizontal control at all. You have to control their assist at least somewhat, and your air fireballs can only do so much against some characters.
Unless this is just an objective “Doing the best with what you asked for”. Then I guess that’s about as good as you can do, just probably change Morrigan to blade assist so you can have a good anti air, cross counter later, and invuln team hyper if you need to “block” a mix up for free.
I just wanted to be cute and run Team Darkstalkers for the same reason I main Dan in SSFIV: AE and so far so good on and offline with DevilJin’s version of Team DS. But I see what you’re saying and I’ll give it a shot.
Lol, do I need to post more JJJ videos?
We just had a major where he was put into loser’s early and then fought his way back to Grand Finals. His top 8 run was very impressive.

Morrigan/Storm/Felicia is not only a decent team, it’s an amazing team. Hsien-ko wouldn’t be as good, but it’d be workable because you have a ‘get off me’ assist.
No it’s really not the same at all. Storm does so much that Hsien Ko completely fails to do. JJJ’s team is quite good, but even that team has some of the problems I mentioned.
You could never convince me in a thousand years that Hsien Ko on a team is “workable” at top level, in ultimate.
Yeah, because the best “Get the fuck off me” assist in the game for only one hyper bar and a team super that OTGs is horrible.
(watches an LLND video where he keeps vanilla Wolverine off of him with the assist with CHRIS REDFIELD, aka the “oh god help me I can’t keep people off of me” poster child. He uses her team super to OTG for Chris and Ammy.)
Oh. Damn. I guess she’s really ‘not’ workable at the top level.
She’s the closest thing to Psylocke/Commando in this game. If it gets to this character with your back against the wall, just acknowledge that you’ve already made too many mistakes to win. There’s no shame in it. It happens. She’s even far better on point than either of those characters were in MVC2 and this game has X-Factor 3 so if you’re getting blown out of the water it becomes a 3 hit match.
She’s capable of dumping meter for highly damaging combos. She’s got a low comeback factor but beats so many characters 1 on 1 it’s ridiculous thanks to unlimited Hyper Armor being at her disposal. She’s got a comboable command grab, and she can hyper after her air grab which causes a corner carry.
Hsien-Ko is not good. She is just not terrible.
Morrigan likes to zone people. Can you imagine how ridiculous it would be to try to get in on a Morrigan locking you down with Mirror Super, Golden Pendulum and Felicia Rolling Buckler for unblockables?
