EDIT: Removed on request
But put it this way:
- No new GG, only BB
- No AC online
- IF we were to see a new GG it would be SFIV’d
EDIT: Removed on request
But put it this way:
Wow, sucks to hear that AC wont be ported with online functionality. Why not have blazblue vs guilty crossover? Shit’ll be BOSS
RIP Gunflame FRC and AC FRC!
Technically wouldn’t you still have Gunflame RC? Ergo, it wouldn’t be taking out the options you had before, just making it easier for newer players to execute those options.
How is more people gaining access to GG a bad thing?
Because they think they have to dumb the game down to do so, and we’ll have to settle for a simpler (inferior) product. Which is retarded.
Making things simpler WON’T make the game more popular, making it prettier/good netplay/extras/unlockables and stuff like that will.
You can’t RC Gunflame. At all. Making GG “easier to play” is more than taking out Slashbacks and FRCs. Some of these characters you’re not going to figure out off the bat. Like Eddie, Slayer, Axl for instance.
Developers need to see that you don’t need to take out options to make games more accessible to people. You can please both hardcore and casual players.
Pretty much. Toss that shit in there and people will eat it up.
99% of the FRCs in the game can be turned in to force breaks with no consequence. You can probably count on one hand the amount of FRCs that need to stay FRCs to maintain all their functionality. FRCs are really just a time tax and is the biggest barrier to getting in to Guilty Gear. /davidsirlin
I dunno how many people I have seen get in to GG and be totally excited about it. All the way up to the point they had to learn FRCs to continue improving, and then that’s when they realize they have to dedicate more time beyond the time they already give to playing the game. And that’s usual the point where we lose them.
If you ask me, FRCs and other Just-Frame like mechanics are just gimmicks to get hardcore players to pump more money in to the machine. Remember when Tekken 4 came out and people would pop in credits for 1p and 2p so they could practice a Just-Frame on a move that was rumored to have a Just-Frame, but didn’t actual have one?
But anyways, if you like GG, then keep repping that GG.
That too.
bullshit. Its either or really for fighting games. The hardcore players hate the casual engine mechanics because its not challenging enough. The casual players hate practicing and or hate dealing with hardcore engine mechanics.
When you make a game that is in the middle, its not challenging enough for hardcore players but its good enough for the casual market. Its always going to suit one side or the other more.
very sad news though about GG. Its a shame every fighting game developer is out trying to please johnny fuck stick when its the hardcore scenes have been keeping these games alive for years.
i never played GG that much, but i despise blazblue’s character designs. GG was classic, yo
This.
There’s no reason that FRCs can’t be all turned into RCs, and then you can make RCs cost 25% instead of 50%.
Unless you’re an execution whore who refuses to compromise, which is what led to the kind of games from the late 90’s up to SF4 that turned the mainstream market off of 2D FGs to begin with.
That’s like saying that you can’t add characters like Gen or Makoto in SF4 because they’re too hard for Johnny Donuts. You can still have complex and difficult-to-master characters in game with relatively simpler execution/mechanics. Johnny Donuts will still have his Kens and Jins and Kys.
Lowering the execution barrier doesn’t mean you have to take away options.
As far as the article said, if they made it today, the only things they would be taking out FRCs and Slashbacks. FRCs can just become RCs.
Saying a new GG needs Slashback or it’ll be ruined is 10x dumber than saying a new SF needs parries or it’ll be ruined.
GGAC still going strong in arcadia rankings
I’m saddened by this. :c
I have no issue if that happens. I just want the options in the game period. I don’t care if they’re easier to pull off. That means nothing to me.
That’s not what I said at all. I’m saying is that some of these characters are going to need a damn tutorial. Even if “Johnny Donuts” is a casual player, it will only help if there’s a tutorial giving a hand. Even if he just ends up not giving a damn. Unless you see something wrong with having a guide?
VF4 Evo’s tutorial was awesome. You want to make a game more accessible, add in a tool that helps people learn. Even if they end up being “scrubs” or whatever.
RIP
Grrrlfriend FRC bandit bringer
Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!
We need GG, now!!
Hmph, I will not let GG die. I had 26 GG players my last tournament. It will continue.
so gg is quite literally gonna get sf4’d
ASW has said before that they want to focus on BB, and while GG is not a dead franchise, it’s on the back burners for the time being. This isn’t news. What is “news” (not really news, just words from Pachi), is wanting to take out FRCs and Slash Backs. I don’t really care if SBs are removed, but I will be sad to see FRCs removed. I think FRCS add a ton of depth to the game, but for the average player, the execution barrier is too high. Realistically, there are three options to deal with this.
I don’t really like this option at all. FRCs won’t really feel like FRCs anymore if they’re Forcebreaks, and it would probably hurt a lot of characters for their FRCs turn into RCs (e.g. Sol’s Gunflame would be god awful if it required 50% meter to RC just so he can continue pressure or use it in a combo).
Most FRC windows in GG are two frames, and although they’re not that hard to hit with practice, it requires too much effort for a newer player. I think increasing the window to a general six frames for everyone (with some exceptions like Faust’s scalpel stab super) to be like May’s FRC Dolphins would be plenty big. The problem with this is that it could create some weird situations with some FRCs, making some FRCs weaker or stronger or even carry over into the active frames, essentially just making it a 25% meter RC. For the most part I don’t believe this would be a bad change.
As some people know, BlazBlue has an input buffer system in which if you hold a button, it’ll count it as an input for five frames, essentially making combos that are one frame links into five frame links. This way, they can keep FRC windows at two frames, still have them keep their unique feel, and still be used like they were intended, but now they are easier to execute. Now, they could go about this in two ways. You could have the input buffer system work across the board for all inputs, or have the system recognize that you are holding three buttons and count that input for five frames. Even if the system worked like the former suggestion, it wouldn’t really help a lot of the characters in GG in terms of their combos. Slayer would probably benefit the most from the former suggestion, but that’s about it. I feel that this is the best suggestion in keeping FRCs in the game and keeping them as unique tools but easier to execute.
I’m just going to keep playing AC and being an awesome Slayer.
While I’m sad that this news has come to light, guilty gear is still better than BB and SF4 and I really refuse to play these shitty games at the competitive level that I play guilty gear.
Long story short, us Guilty Gear players have been spoiled with their awesome system mechanics and a new title coming out every few years. If arcsys wants to make dat money with BB, let them.
In my area, lots of the BB players have become interested in GG, and it’s amazing.
Omg whats this world coming to!
