Personally, I don’t think Montreal has a poor scene at all. You guys play well and execute well but you’re living in the stone age of Marvel. I mean it’s all for jokes when we say “oh shit, Arcade Kid best 2002 player in Canada” but that’s not something to brag about for everyone else. The only player that really looked like someone living in the here and now of Marvel all weekend was Smokey’s MSS. Everyone else looked outdated (how many 1234 hypergrav xx tempest can you see in a weekend?) or flat out poor. Montreal has every chance to get on Toronto’s level or possibly better if they’d just update the way they play. Watch some videos, pick up a few things and run with it. It’ll help a lot.
BTW; I’ve had a lot of people message me about how I treated Den during his money match with Gerjay. I wanted to make it clear that I have a lot of respect for Den’s game and I didn’t treat him any differently than I would have any of Gerjay’s opponents in a money match. I got in a good one liner and talked a lot of shit but I still think Den is a solid player and will only get better with time.
For those who messaged Nagata about the MM, I am deeply touched by your concerns, however, there is no need for alarm. I’m sure he was just hyping up the match and didn’t mean any harm.
BTW i wasn’t talking much during the tournament because of a viral infection i had contracted which was causing a high fever, dizziness and headachs which i was struggling to control so i hope i didn’t come off as a snob.

Well, while we’re on the subject I’ll add a bit to the convo.
Firstly, I need to address this… “I hope ppl realize that MSP is garbage now.” He didn’t lose because he played MSP, he lost because he hadn’t played a sentinel that played that gay before I’m guessing. MSP has a great shot at beating santhrax, just look at what happened whenever he got a hit in. Don’t blame the team, cause I’ll assure you I’ve been raped many times by american MSPs (and toronto…).
Also, I don’t think Shady’s post was at all a message who’s point was to say “WE SUCK” but rather to say “Stop saying we’re the best and then make excuses when we lose”. Just look at Nadir’s post, “Good shit Green, but for some reason I couldn?t block magneto?s stuff, maybe the TV we used was too small for me to view anything.” WTF is that BS? If that’s the problem I’ll play Magneto on you in a movie theatre and see if you can block there…

Veas didn’t want to play the match, but his pride made him do it. And its not like he did bad at all… 4-2 is a close match imo. Also, I don’t see anythign wrong with the frying pans and corridors, its what happens when the sentinels they’re use to playing aren’t willing to take a risk and fly around and under the person, stuff like that. Ever think the reason they got hit wasn’t entirely their fault, but instead because they were up against somethign new? To me it seems like that was part of Shady’s post, not simply trying to say that you guys suck.

If it was the pressure getting to him I could understand it. But the pressure doesn’t hold up for that many money matches. Don’t get me wrong, I respect payback’s game and I can see why he wins against other mtl people, but if you can’t see the reason he lost against TO players and not MTL players I think you need a change of perspective. And BTW, how can you even post something so insulting? “it was no surprise he didn’t do too well” Honestly man, that’s pretty stupid if you ask me. You say you counted on him to represent mtl and when he doesn’t pull through you say it wasn’t a surprise? At least Shady seems to understand the problem and is apparently willing to post about it. I was narrow minded like ninja sent my first ECC… and my second… but when you just seem to lose to random people from a different area maybe its time to stop blaming the sticks, or the TV’s or the pressure and start blaming the competition. Watch the matches of us vs. you and then compare them to the matches between TO and sauga and I’m willing to bet you’ll learn a lot. Its not like we have the best community ever, but at least we aren’t dillusional enough to blame the size of the TV for our losses. Shady’s post was good, I hope others can see it the way he does as well and make use of the footage and beat us down next time. I’m looking forward to it.

And as for the Payback thing, its not that he’s bad, its just that we’ve seen all his tricks before. MSP is all about being original with your mixups. Try and bust shit that you’ve seen in a video and it will most likely get blocked. I know I blocked his resets every time (except in the tournament where he beat me). When people block your shit, its time to try something else like actual combos that do damage. MSP does not suck, you just gotta know how to kill your opponent.
One thing that pissed me off though was how after payback beat me, he immediatly forfiet to Samnang. Thats fucking weak shit. I’m not saying I deserve to play Sam if I didn’t win my match straight up, but why give up just cause you think you can’t win, or cause you dont wanna risk knocking your best player out of the tourney.

I dont think any of the people I played suck. I think clock jr has a really good strider/doom. You guys need to learn how to play sentinel better imo. Play against John cause I’d say hes got the best sentinel in Montreal. I dunno how good veas is with sent cause i didn’t play him all weekend =[.

So I ended up mostly studying for my exam and this huge epic post i had prepared, I got lazy and cut down what i wanted to write by 95%
Basically, what i wanted to say was already stated by people …
I figured there’s no point in arguing with some people because mtl people are stubborn and sometimes can’t just accept the facts, bite their pride and try to improve. Bottom line, T.O. fucked us up real good, we should honestly see what we did wrong and improve instead of brushing it aside as bad beats or wtv excuse you can come up with. I’m not even that good in mvc2, well at least according to MTL standards i’m like dead last but I don’t care I have fun.One peculiar point i just had to reply to …
Smokey talk pas shit, Den didn’t lose coz he uses MSP, his MSP is solid, just needs to get more experience, doesn’t need to use MSS unless he wants a back up team. He just needs to get better and develop strategies with MSP. If he lost coz he uses MSP, then i’m never going to win using clockwork :sad:. Its not the team but the players skill/experience behind the team that matters. What the fuck is up with you lost motivation because you lost to john early on ? What talk shit is that. You convinced me you would win it, I put 10$ that mtl was gonna take mvc2 coz I believed everyones hype and lost it, but what makes me edgy is that there are still some people that haven’t ACCEPTED the beating we got and that we need to improve or do something about getting better instead of just blaming it on bad beat, unfortunate circumstances.
For me, I just wont buy into anymore hype, just play when I can and try to improve. Talk all the shit you want but in the end, were all just competing and hopefully having fun. Accept defeat and learn from it but also don’t get too down on mvc2, its fun to play but there is also lotsa other random fun stuff in life. Not saying that training and playing mvc2 competetively is bad, but not to put all your energy solely on that.
