Montebello Mall has THREE MVC2 Machines

there was some maintenance done on cvs2 buttons but,
there has to be some kind of way to convince him…
now what?

what if people (i.e. people that would go the most) would donate money for new parts

i could offer some money and also install the parts

do what AI did.
hold a mini tourney and have some of the entry fee spent on parts.

why not both? haha

so lets set up a tourney

if we can show that we’ll get people to go if the machines are fixed
that might help

ill go a couple hours before to set up the machines if this happens

yay, either a marvel tourny or a cvs2 tourny with broken sticks + buttons! I guess I’ll give rides to some players close to me if we do hold a marvel tourny; I’m down to help the scene.

does that mean me??? hahaha
and if it does… i say we get some more tofu

but anyway
i say we try to schedule a day sometime within the next weeks to get something going. I’ll head over tomorrow and let people who are there know. I have to brush up on my cvs so yeah… it’s been a while now

nah nevermind not today, probably next week

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about this place, and the current though of holding a tournament here.

I spoke with one of workers at the arcade, and he mentioned that the idea was brought up in the past, not sure how long ago that was. There appeared to be some support from the owner, and that he might be available to set the cabinets on freeplay to hold the tournament, and all entry fees to be returned to the community.

If this is still the case, then there is a good chance that the owner will be up for it now. Has anyone got in contact with him yet?

If all the entry fees are returned to the community, doesn’t that kind of take out the point of raising money for the arcade to fix its equipment?

damn, this place sounds worse than action arcade.

i doubt that anyone has talked to the owner about the tourney, but i guess what needs to be decided first is if we want all the money to come back to the community or if we want to raise money for the arcade to do some maintenance on the cabs or 50/50

p360s, sticks, buttons, replacements, etc

Hey whats up everyone, im carlos and i work there at the arcade and yes i have talked to the owner before about setting up a tournament. He agreed that it was a good idea and he would be up for and he said for all he cares the money could go back to the winner. His consern was just to make people more aware that people actually do go to montebello to play marvel. So he suggested making atleast the first tournament basically to get people more interested in going.

If you guys want to setup something, maybe you guys could round up a list of names of participants that you know will go for sure. I have good amount of friends that will play in the marvel tourney for sure. If you guys want to talk 2 me or something i work on Sun, Mon, Tues, & Thurs in the mornings until around 3:30pm sundays til around 4:00pm, but im usually there longer just to play marvel.

By the way, he said that he wouldnt mind setting the machines on free play and just charging like an entry fee. He just told me as long as i organize it, run it and make sure everything goes smooth that he’s up for it. I just need to give him enough notice and after we have everything setup and organized he’ll put the machines on freeplay.

Conserning the individual machines… the left marvel: needs the screen to be adjusted, the whole button setup is screwed up, they’re awkwardly spaced, joysticks suck need to be replaced…the middle marvel: this is perhaps the “best one”, some of the buttons were recently replaced and the joysticks are decent…the right marvel: the joystick on the left side NEEDS to be replaced, buttons are concave but are decent, the right side is ok sometimes a little iffy w/ the first assist but its not that bad

Now its up to everyone who participates if they want to use that money to get new parts…360 joysticks, all convex buttons, etc…or just work w/ what we have. I personally would like the money to be used to fix all 3 machines and replace anything that needs fixing, and maybe get some more stools cuz people get tired of standing…just a suggestion…anything else just let me know.

New sticks/buttons + stools would definitely make that place better.

Hopefully cvs2 can get fixed as well.

Sounds good. Fixing the hardware would be the biggest incentive to this thing.

The point of the tournament would be to raise money for the controls but u guys really think ppl will play and join the tourney w/ the current condition of the controls? The only marvel machine that is good is the middle one…and cvs2 is ok also but the right joystick gets stuck in the direction u move it sometimes…so any suggestions, ideas to what we can do…cuz if we’re going 2 have a tourney w/ marvel, is everyone going 2 play on only the middle machine cuz its the only one in good condition? the right one is ok its just the joystick on the left side thats messed up but ppl will complain.

maybe if we go just to generate interest?
and everyone puts some money down
we might have to put up with the broken parts as best as we can, until we get new parts

but if we show the owner its worth it, because people would actually attend
maybe he’ll fix the cabs

(PS please fix cvs2 not just marvel)

(and get tekken 6)
(jk?)

so do you know about when (this month/next month) and what time the tourney will be held? knowing that the mall closes pretty early =/

what if we all decide to meet at the mall at one time some time in december?
and we’ll hold a tourney, generate interest and show that we can fill up the arcade.

we all put in some money that will go towards buying new parts

and maybe pick a day where the most comp decides going, like regency i think is wed
maybe we could pick fridays or sunday afternoons, or something i dunno

wed and sundays sounds good
