There’s this one place in Commerce called Commerce Fun Center on Whittier blvd with 3s in there. But the buttons are spaced pretty far apart, sticks and buttons aren’t that great, and it’s 50 cents per game. =\\\
That is not within a 15 minute drive though…j/k. Isn’t there a movie theatre within the same center? I remember going to an arcade out that direction many years ago, not sure its the same one.
Yeah, there’s a theater there. It’s within a 15 minute drive as well. Maybe it’s a bit mroe if you live all the way on the other side of Monterey Park (around Mark Keppel or something), but it’s around that much. That or if you’re an old white/asian lady, it might take longer, too.
How is that place? Do they have MvC2? As said, I been there about 3 times when MvC1 first came out. Glad to hear that this place is still holding up.
29 sigs! nice
lets get it to 50 and ill show the owner
tell your friends!
backed.
mvc2 is thrown in a corner somewhere
just completely forgotten about by everyone and everything
last time i went, the screen needed flipping badly, lk did not work for player 1,
and it was tagged up
good shit everyone we’re up to 32
ok so who actually has spoken/talked to the owner?
I can call either Testemant X or an actual worker there to see if anyone has talked to him. I’ll see if either one of them can provide me with an update.
I got you a few more signatures.
Approaching 50 soon.
What’s our Agenda?
Suggestions:
Primary:
- Replace machines with quality sticks & buttons
Secondary:
2) Lower cvs2 to $0.25
Long Term:
3) Get 3s in there
and marvel too
who wants to be the speaking voice for the community?
our representative
i dont know if srk is a democracy or not
>_<
Bargaining Suggestions:
In return for better parts and eventually lower prices, we could offer:
- Guaranteed Players
- Fund Raising Money For The Arcade (from tournaments)
- Website Exposure (announcements on SRK)
Not too long ago, I was able to organize fund raising tournaments at Arcade Infinity for just 3s.
Within 2 tournaments, we had racked up $100+ that was donated to the owner (tax free!).
There was a very minimal skim off the pot for each tournament.
I (and other players), donated some SF merchandise as raffle drawings to increase the donation pot.
Overall it was a huge success.
It works out for the players and the owner because it encourages more tournaments to be held.
In turn it leads to better maintenance of the machine (or that’s the plan at least).
I wouldn’t mind organizing events like these later down the line if it got to that point.
So whoever speaks with the owner there, the above are some suggestions on what you can use as persuasive tools.
great ideas, hopefully this all gets done by the end of the month
also maybe we should make a new thread just for this arcade once its good to go
or at least change this thread title to something else ;x
:china:
i’ll head over on friday
i talk to someone in staff
hopefully we can get 50+ sigs
but how do we want to present this to the owner?
organization
Damn, 45 signatures, we gotta wait till we hit 50 to get real action going.
If about one third of a possible 50 signing show up then that’s a great hunk of change for the arcade.
Keep hope alive people.
In all likeliness, having 40 something sigs VS having 50 something sigs probably isn’t going to make a significant difference. At this point, I think we have enough sigs.
It’s all about presentation. If you really want the 50, just present it like this:
“We have nearly 50 signatures as of last week, and that number is still growing.”
I think it’s more important that whoever goes to speak with the owner be professional, courteous, and confident. That’s probably what’ll be the more persuasive aspect in coaxing the owner to commit to the invested money. Oh, don’t forget to dress casual/professionally.
Plates:
if you’re gonna go, you can just print out the petition list.
Write your contact info on the list.
Use a highlighter to emphasis key persuasive comments that some people have wrote.
Circle the highest # of sig in red.
If you want, you can also list & introduce srk.com, and explain to him what it’s about briefly (all he needs to know is it’s a place for devoted players/customers). Other companies like On Campus Entertainment (www.ocearcades.com) have representatives (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=4376983&postcount=1684) as registered users on SRK to attract customers and listen to feedback. In short, it’s another doorway for them the bring in new customers, and also to keep the old ones coming back.
i know where theres a 3s machine he could get from another arcade
its just sitting there rotting with no play
pm me for details on its location and you can tell him
ps plates if you want i can go with you, i work in a real estate office so im used to convincing people
R l C: & Shoo: definitely agree with what you’re saying
although i am not certain if i will be able to speak to the owner
personally on friday, i am sure i can get information on how to
contact him that day through staff.
shoo: i will be heading over on friday if you wanna meet there to
get information on how to personally meet with the owner.
but when that time comes that i would have to schedule an appointment,
what day would any of you have time
to come along (if you can) and present our case
like R l C said: "be professional, courteous, and confident."
and what of the 25 cent per play situation?
I think getting the sticks/buttons replaced should be priority for now.
You can mention the 25 to let him know that it will attract even more people,
but really, use your judgment to see how accepting he is.
If he already seems hes hesitant about replacing the parts, then maybe it’s better to tackle that at a later time. If things are going smoothly, then yeah, push for it. Definitely worth the mention though.
Maybe 50 start, 25 continue can be a compromise.
