Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Looks pretty neat! Well I recommend fixing up the two holes on the far right with plugs or artwork. Did you keep the little board that was over the Start, select, etc? You could keep that and wire up your start, select, L3/R3/other shoulder buttons to it like this:

Oh and since you want PS2, PS3 and PC, Google shop ‘Mayflash PS2 PS3’ and rip the PCB out of that and that should satisfy your needs.

I’ve only seen this arcade stick in person once, but I’m under the impression you can’t mount an unmodified Seimitsu joystick at the proper height without drilling out the bottom metal plate, no?

@Shadow2bolt

I still have that little board and the start/select buttons. Can you help me about what point of that board represent start/select?

@VietGeek
Yeah. I can’t mount and I have to make a hole because this LS-40-01 shaft too high for the stick or I must buy a shaft from another seimi model (LS-3X series)

That’s too bad, a friend of mine would probably love a LS-32-01 to play bullet hell games.

By the way, if you’re talking about a Mayflash board, flip the board over to the “back” where there are 4 large contact points. The rightmost two contacts (buttons) are Select and Start (left to right in that order).

@Vinn

I’ll post a pic tomorrow with labelled diagram. I hope you haven’t grinded the holes to fit those buttons where start and select are.

yeah. i haven’t grinded the holes (thanks to these improvised buttons being lower in diameter + screw-in), so, don’t worry

Mind if i ask you guys something.

Which sanwa stick did you guys bought?

Sanwa Joystick JLF-TP-8Y-SK
or
Sanwa Joystick JLF-TP-8YT

and do you guys mind telling me what is shaft kit and what is it used for?

Thanks.

Sorry it took a while I’ve been busy but here is the upper board diagram:

@Lion I recommend getting the JLF-TP-8Y-SK because you won’t need the mounting plate when inserting it into the FS3 (unless you want to do some unnecessary drilling). The shaft cover is there so you can’t take off the balltop unless you take your screwdriver and unscrew from the bottom (without it, you can take it off with some pliers). I recommend the SK as I find it looks neater.

thnks to everyone here i finally modded my fs3

loving the way it feels, so much better than stock buttons

How did you get artwork on it?

Is there a way to get plexi on it?

all i did was get the artwork printed on normal paper and get it lami-label at kinko’s.
its basically a laminated giant sticker
i had to do everything on my own to get it printed there since the workers can’t help me print out a copyrighted material(final fantasy)

you can probably do plexi, but i have no idea how to do that

You can get plexi on it and it can be held on by the buttons. You probably can get plexi with screw holes to either go on top of the metal plate or to replace it.

anyone who left the plastic on and did a mod for Sanwa JLF, do you happen to know the height of the stick (like from the bottom of the handle to the top of the control panel)

Is the usb cable/power supply quick release? or soldered on?

oh man…did i damage the board? i realize i did the directions incorrectly andhtne when i desoldered it to redo it…abit of the green part of the pcb came off…

Got any pics of the damage? It might be alright as long as the damage isn’t too bad.

here it is! thanks for your help!

if it is…beyond use…any suggestions?

would somebody know off hand how I go about wiring the JLF harness to the stock PCB in this HFS3

Hori fs3

could anyone help me choose a good spring to stiffen up my fs3 and how to install it?

adrin a good spring would be either the seimitus LS-32 or LS-33 spring. probably the LS-32 spring since it works better if you still have the stock stick in your FS3
