Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Haven’t been to this thread in a while. I’ve got a full Sanwa FS3, and I’ve always tried to find ways to add weight to it. Any good solutions these days?

There’s 2 hollow cylinders inside the stick to support the bottom plate. You could try to fill those tubes with weights.

My one stick stopped working. . . dont know if its because of the mod or hori’s board just fried on me

the stick or the buttons or both? if its the stick then the heatshrink is more than likely loose and you’re having intermittent contact, which you can fix by applying more heatshrink or soldering the wires to the switches

and to atomic mouth; as said by pizzaroo you can fill those empty cylinders with lead balls(you can get at any hardware store)… dump in some crazy glue, add lead balls, more crazy glue, more lead, more glue untilt he cylinders are full…you can put a fan to help dry faster or just wait until it all hardens inside the cylinders…another thing that I’ve seen done is taking metal washers, stacking them and putting electrical tape around them to make it one long cylinder and then adhering each stack to the different spots within the stick where there is room, which would add decent weight as well

then I have this which is directed towards any other FS3 modders…I had an idea for when adding the JLF stick. a lot of people use a dremel with a grinder bit to shave away the inside of the bottom plate so that there is no scraping, but I was thinking that you could clamp the bottom plate and use a mallet to put a small permanent indent into it(of course not too deep as to protrude further than the rubber feet)…what do you think?

What are the best weights to shove into these sticks? I can find some pretty cheap giant packs of pet food or I can fill it out with pennies. Other than economical solutions, what do people recommend here?

shadow read my post above yours in the blurb i directed toward atomic mouth whom had the same question

i must say i’m a newb in all this modding stuff… but, destiny is making me do this. sigh

I have a FS3 (the one included with tekken 6) which apparently broke down. to be honest I think some acid from the batteries got to the metal plates and corroded the whole battery piece.

I’ve looked everywhere for a replacement, with no luck… so, i rather take this up and do some cool project while i fix it.

seeing all these threads and mods has really pumped me up! can’t wait to get home and begin!

Junitz the FS3 and the wireless hori stick that came with your tekken 6 stick are different. I think you can use similar methods to mod it but if i remember correctly the tekken stick is even thinner than the FS3 which could cause some problems

lost my hori stick e-ring, is there anywhere i can pick up a new one?

Some hardware/workshop supplies stores sell e-rings (also known as e-clips) so take a look on the interwebs.

that’s good to know… thanks for the info. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have an odd question. I’m about to mod my broken FS3(buttons a in awful shape, But it does work), I don’t mind the Hori stick but My GF perfers The Seimitsu Ls-32 Round restrictor plate(she perfers american so she Like heavy springs and smooth gates with bat tops as a solution to me not making a huge case for a IL stick) Would there be a way to fit it in? I’m not sure if the holes in the gate match the ones in the hori. And My GF’s stick with the gate is four states away with her on buisness.

Seimitsu LS-32 Round Restrictor Plate

I have another question… if I may.

someone just cleared that up that the hori FS3 is not ‘exactly’ the one that comes included with tekken 6. (which is the one i have)
well, since my battery “thing” “case” “holder” is broken and hori won’t replace it even if i pay for it…
is there any way i could transform it from “wireless” to “wired” (usb) without changing the whole PCB?
I tried looking for a previous thread regarding this, but i didn’t find anything.

Can you toss up pics of the battery holder? It’s possible you could replace the battery holder with some other solution.

I did…! but the pics won’t show.
I dunno if it’s the host or me, putting up the wrong BB code, which… I doubt.

Hold on, lemme try to put up the links from the other post.

Hello.

I want to mod my FS3 with a Seimitsu LS-40-01 Joystick. How to adapt this joystick to the FS3?

Drill holes into the metal plate for where the screws go. I think you may also need to cut holes on the bottom plate too or just replace it with something else as it may stick out too far below (not certain as I’ve not actually seen one in comparison to an FS3).

Hm… so, if I want to put a Seimitsu stick, I have to dremel off the plastic where the hori stock joystick was mounted, right?

Yup. Either shave off any bit sticking out or simply cut a big hole as you’ll be mounting it onto the front plate anyway.

Well, I’ve finally modded my Hori FS3, one of the hardest sticks to mod. Now I need to put art and PCB (PS2, PS3 and PC, because I play GG, MB, etc.).

Thanks to Shadow2bolt and this thread for the tips

Joystick: Seimitsu LS-40-01 (Red Shaft Cover and Bubbletop)
Pushbuttons: 6x Seimitsu PS-14-D-N (Black Rim/Red Button) + 2 improvised start/select pushbuttons, all screw-in
