Jumpsuit… im loving the cab and the stick… yea i also ordered a sanwa joystick thinking that it’ll fit… but then i was like screw it and used the one already on the stick…
Imitrex - i think we say FS3 over HRAP3 cuz on the box its labeled as fighting stick 3 lol
and daym…this thing is going for 20 bux now?! WTH? pricing went down so much… i got mine for 50 =[… i think its cuz i got it when it barely came out
Jumpsuit Jesse, the knock off hori stick might actually fit a Sanwa octagonal gate better than an actual Sanwa JLF due to the hori joysticks longer throw and stiffer spring. Octagonal gates feel like shit on JLFs but they may actually make the hori stick somewhat decent. I like square gates though and so I am thinking of putting an LS-33 w/ LS-56 spring in an EX2. May someone please post up pics of the LS-33 in a Fighting Stick 3, EX2, or Wii?
It’s not the flat feeling that gives Seimitsu snap-ins the nasty feeling. The plunger, and the way it sits in the bezel, is different (other than the flat surface). In short, Seimitsu snap-ins are completely different buttons from the screw-ins similar to Happ Ultimate buttons versus Happ Competition (convex) buttons. Seimitsu snap-ins and Happ Ultimates = finger rape. Semitsu screwins, Sanwa buttons, and Happ convex = enlightenment.
I have a personal experience with this as well; I bought a HRAP2 and a T5 stick at the same time, and used them equally until they were both broken in. To start with, they both felt about as good as each other to me. I really didn’t have a preference and I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. I could tell the difference between them by feel but neither seemed clearly superior.
Eventually, of course, they wore in. The Hori knock-off joystick grew worse and worse. However, the Sanwa JLF began to feel even better. In about six months of casual play (and a few incidents of buddies learning to button-mash), the Sanwa was unquestionably better. I wouldn’t consider myself a fine connoisseur but I’ve used a lot of different joysticks, and it’s interesting to note that my girlfriend–who had never used an arcade stick before–found the same thing.
I don’t think there’s much of a difference at first but over time there’s no doubt as to which stick is the winner.
I never stopped to think about wear and tear. I haven’t played on a stock hori knockoff long enough to see how they hold up.
So maybe upgrading to the JLF will have long term benefits? I would think so.
EvilSamurai - I think I was the first one to actually put a JLF octagon gate on the stock hori stick. It still has a long through…even for a shorter stick.
I ended up sticking with square gates on both since that is what most people are using nowadays.
But I still say LS-5601’s with Octagon gates+bat tops own all hehe
What I mean is that on the octagonal gates make the stick have a long throw no matter what but if you put them on a JLF the microswitch will activate at about half the throw which makes the stick feel funny to me, which combined with the light spring, gives me problems doing moves such as dashes that require double taps in a direction.
i love what you’re doing Jumpsuit… how much did you pay for that cab? and nice switch with the buttons on them =], i was thinking of getting clear seimitsu’s myself… but i wasnt sure how they felt… i personally dont like seimitsu’s unless im using them to play one of the KOF series or something… this summer i wanna work on a “fun” stick with the clear works and all… and a competition stick(most likely gonna be a MAS) haha
how do the clear buttons feel? is it like the Sanwa buttons? or does it still push in like seimitsu’s?
It was an expensive experiement, but I think I am gonna go back to Sanwa buttons. The bling of the skeleton buttons are really nice but I played really hard on the skeleton stuff last night for a few hours and both my brother and I agreed that they just don’t feel as good as sanwas. We found ourselves missing moves and not being able to “flow” in our game. Call us picky prissy gamers but we definitely noticed it.
Gonna go back to Sanwas…maybe whites and violets? I dunno.
Thanks for the compliments. I am gonna open up the cab this week and thoroughly clean it and wax the plastics.
