Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Looks like a nose to me…

yeah, too me!

LOL!

i like this stick, but one thing im kinda iffy about is that how hollow it is, its sorta difficult playing marvel, I.E speed Dashing…

im thinking of just ordering a Astro or Blast City 2-player control panel with all the buttons included and build my own from there… it’ll be such a huge project to me

is it worth buying it even if i don’t modd it?? i mean it’s like any other hori stock stick???

Dood I’m so with you on that one. I’ve been thinking about doing one for a while since I saw a video of Daigo playing on one in one of the Evo tourneys. It was funny because it was mounted on a very crude looking box lol. I have to get rid of some of the sticks that I have and am working on. When that happens I’ll get a panel and make a box for it. I’ll post my findings on here.

You would be the shit rolling into a tourney with a huge arcade stick thats just for you lol.

P.S. Per is selling an Astro city solo panel, without hardware, for 70 bucks.

It depends on what games you want to play on it. I bought it for Tekken 5 DRO and it’s not as good as my PS2 Tekken 4 Hori stick. The stick is too close to the side of the cabinet for me. Part of my hand and wrist hang off of it. It’s probably OK for VF5, though. Even if I had the skills I wouldn’t mod it. I don’t like the button layout.

No problem, Opips.

i just bought a HFS3 at gamestgop for 29.99, i think im going to mod it since i didnt like the layout, wish me luck, this is going to be my first mod stick :woot:

Just put sanwa switches under the seimitsu buttons, then you have sanwa smoothness with the seimitsu look.

Good luck! PM me if ya have any questions.

LOL YES THATS WHERE I GOT THE INFLUENCE FROM! that video of daigo with it… i was like omg… thats so worth it and it’ll probably feel MUCH better lol

and hell yea dude… your own portable(although its pretty wide) 2-player stick haha

70 bux without hardware? im so down for that… much better than ordering from a UK store and spending over 100 on it… and it’ll be cheaper ordering the buttons seperatly…

thanks dude!

P.S where can i contact this guy… or is that the SRK name?

Per is the guy on here who runs Akihabara Shop.

That + using the Sei balltops = gdlk

does anyone have a HRAP or a DoA 360 layout?? i like that design better than this one on the FS3, buttons are too close to the stick for me… :looney:

I don’t believe this has been asked yet: is it possible to use a Sixaxis PCB for the HFS3??? Cause that one has the same buttons as the stick or does that make no difference???

nah… no diff

So I take it then that if you’d use a PS2 PCB you use the analog button to be used as the home button on the stick, right???

Hey guys,

I just got a FS3 and I like it. I really like that its small and lightweight.

I decided that I’m going to mod it! This is going to be my first mod project.

Q’s…

  1. If I follow this guide, will I be alright?
    http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179535

I checked out the stick on the inside and it looks very similair to the Wii one. Just need reassurance.

  1. If I used QD’s, I will need 16 right? 2 for each button?

  2. What’s the deal with the Octagon restrictor plate? I’m very new to sticks and was wondering if I really need this and if it’s better?

^ That was a pretty sweet guide you found there. You will need 16 QDs if you decide to have an 8 button stick. The octagon restrictor is more of a preference. Buy it and try it. If you dont like it you could go ahead and use the square gate again.

Hey guys, just ordered my stick and buttons and I opted not to got for the Octa… I may buy one in the future though.

Just found out I had a dremel tool ! Now all I need is a soldering iron or I’m just going to use one at my college.

As soon as my stuff gets here it’s modding time! And I’m painting the top plated steel area…
