Template Help

So I have decided to mod my hori fighting stick 3. I pretty much have everything I need and know what to do. I just need some help creating the template. I just want a red background. Kinda Like the Movie Spider-man suit red. I really want it to match the 2 red Sanwa OBSF-30 Pushbuttons I bought for it. I’m doing 6 black and 2 red. If any one could help get the red down, so IT will look good when I print it has laminated art, I would be much appreciated. Also, How/where should I print it once I have my design. Reply or e-mail me RossMacN@comcast.net

You’ll want to request in this thread.

Changing the LED

I want to change the Green LED to a Red one, what kind do I need to get, where do I get one and how do I change it?

Hi, I just bought 2 hori FS3 's , but i find the joystick a bit short an i would like to change it to a longer one or one of those ‘teardrop’ joysticks. If it is possible i wouldn’t even change the joystick just make the original one longer. Could anybody help with this ?

Hi, I’ve been reading through this thread, as well as the Hori FS3 Wii EX2 modding thread, and looking over the various tutorials, I am having difficulty understanding something for when I plan to mod mine with a JLF.

I read one tutorial stating the HFS doesn’t have a common ground, thus the traces of the micro-switch PCB need to be cut, however the Hori FS3 Wii EX2 modding thread states they do have a common ground.

So my question is, does one need to cut the traces on the micro-switch PCB when installing a JLF into the HFS3?

The EX2 does not have a common ground, but the Wii Fightstick and the PS3FS3 do have common grounds. Depending on which stick you have it can be different.

If you have a FS3 it will be just like wiring the JLF to a MadCatz hack

Ah, thank you very much. That is certainly a weight off of my mind then.
I look forward to attempting my mod when I receive my parts then.

i have this stick and my only problem with it is that it’s to lite. I cannot keep it still when I have it placed on my lap, so my directions get all messed up.

finished. thanks to mivlives for the art!

Does anyone know someone that sells plexiglass covers for the Hori Fighting Stick 3?

I would try arthong, who has a thread stickied at the top of the tech forums.

Go to the local Wal-Mart photo center and ask them for the left over film containers, apparently they just recycle them so they should be able to give them to you for free. Grab some BB’s from sporting goods.

You can fit cut off film containers filled with BB’s inthe round support pillars of the stick. Like so…

I’m a complete noob at modding fight sticks, but after some research on here thanks to you guys, I managed to muster up some courage and try it out…well, kinda. I didn’t really upgrade any parts just added new art to my buddies FS3 and my brother’s EX2, but it did require de-soldering and re-soldering. Here’s some pics. I’ll post up mine when my seimitsu buttons arrive! Let me know what y’alls think!

Nothing special really. Just new artwork besides the dull template that normally comes on it.
Hopefully someone can help me out with this problem. I resoldered all the buttons back on, no problem. Tested out the buttons on my pc and the FS3 on my ps3 everything worked great. Then after installing the bottom metal plate back on nothing works. Is this bad and can I get it to work? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!

That is cool man.
Looks official.

The cuts are super nice and clean too.

more than likely solder points are coming into contact with the metal bottom plate. Take of the plat and cover it with some form of non-conducting material (I used duct tape). Retest the buttons without the tape and resolder if any points have broken from pressure. Then replace the back plate.

Thanks for the compliment jdm714! And thanks for the reply Ragnorok64! I’ll try using duct tape and see if I get any results. >.<

I used hot glue. Best solution so far and its cheap $10 for gun and glue

how would you describe the feel of a jlf with the hori shaft installed in it compared to the complete jlf?
Just curious since that seems to be a way to avoiding some grinding and extra work.

havnt been around here in a while

I should probably redit that other thread. I strongly recommend for Sanwa to use the regular method of drilling through JLF. Although if you want to preserve it then the mounting plate could still be place on the JLF and you can make mounting holes(flushed to make it look nice :D) for the plate itself.

I should also edit it to include that ex2 isnt common ground while the others are. Didnt know that D:

@planetos if you could post more pics of the mod that’d be great, i think imma include that as another alternative to dremmeling the bottom.
