Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

not yet homie, no one has made a working windows 32-bit driver yet.

I use mines with my pc. It wont work with my laptop which is usb1.0 but my pc has usb 2.0 and it recognizes it. I use it to play 3rd strike.

i have usb 2.0 also, are you SURE you have the HFS3? not the HRAP3

no PC talk, back to modding and swapping joystick & buttons on Hori fighting stick 3.

First I want to say cheers to the guys who’ve documented how to mod the stick, especially NotANoob, the pics were especially helpful.

For some reason my PC doesnt mind the HFS3 and was fine to install it without anything special.

Here’s my efforts, please excuse my poor wiring:

I’ve gutted the board from this one and I’m using it for my supergun:

In the last few months I’ve modded four of these sticks with Sanwa JLFs and snap-ins, but I’m looking to try out a Seimitsu ls-32 or ls-33.

Has anyone got any pictures of how they’ve mounted either of these sticks in the HFS3?

w/e

We need to figure out the common denominator of who got it to work, and who didnt.

It’s the same story for me with the joystick in ubuntu linux. Recognises straight away and installs drivers, works fine on sdlmame.
Which lead me to believe that its something more hardwarey.

My motherboard is an asus a8n-sli deluxe on nForce4 chipset, what are other people getting it to work with?

Yeah It’s the little crappy stick with the bad art and the pink, purple, blue and gray buttons. I own two of them. It recognizes the joystick as the point of view hat. I did notice when I plugged it into my hub I got nothing. It works perfectly though. I’m really not shitting you. Believe it or not, I have the same motherboard as fritz_saxi. No sli though.

Hey fritz_saxi. I am modding my FS3 with the sanwa you put in yours. Does the stock board have a common ground for the pin connector?

How very interesting.

I wired the black ground that comes off the JLF to one of the grounds for the directions. Yes they are common so it doesnt matter which.

I found a FS3 at gamestop for 19.00 used. I took one apart and am getting ready to mod it completely. The other one I just replaced the stick. Thanks Fritz. After I looked at it I just soldered the wires on and it works good.

Bah looks like im gonna have to switch out the pcb. Does work with my laptop, HOWEVER, i have a driver updater that tells me when my drivers are out of date, and it said my usb 2.0 slot had out of date drivers, BUT my manfucturer, doesnt have them up anywhere, and I can’t find it on the net.

Does anyone still have a link to the art template for this stick?

Also random side question, what would the model number be for a Sanwa bat-top to screw on to an existing JLF stick?

I just got my sanwa buttons and Joystick from Lizardlick.com, one question do I need soldering kit if I am not changing the pcb board? I just want to switch the 8 buttons and joystick on my FS3.

Sanwa LB-30-N — you’ll need an adapter for this to work, though.

you can get both at lizardlick.com.

if the HFS3 is anything like the HFS2, you will need to solder. and if i remember correctly, it is.

and dude, it’s on the first page of this thread.

ok Im switching out the PCB the Sanwa stick and buttons will come later, where do i solder on the buttons (second picture) and stick (4th picture) to a psONE pcb? (picured below)

Thanks, seems easy enough.

So Far Ive taken out the PS3 PCB by removing the buttons and the Stick ( I cut the wires from the pcb)
ok Im switching out the PCB where do i solder on the buttons (second picture) and stick (4th picture) to a psONE H series pcb? (picured below)

I have also scraped some of the black stuff of the psx pcb, its an H series controller.

edit: I cut the sticks wires directly from the pcb, and i dont know which is used for ground or which is signal, or can i use either? Same things with the button pins, does it matter which pin on the button i use for a ground and which i use for the signal?

Either prong can be used for ground and/or response.

Ok I went and got soldering kit and desoldering vacuum from local radioShack last night and now I am up to “Now the fun begins” part from the page-1 guide… Growl hisss~ wish me luck with the rest of the modding…

:looney::looney::sweat::sweat:

double post. sorry.
