Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

Sweet stick fiveways. How does that LS-33 feel. I have the LS-32-01 in mine and i love it. Just wanna know if it feels good so i can put it in my girlfriends stick when i build hers.

Man, the LS-33 is great, i dont feel like I have to swing it nearly as hard as I did the hori stick. It’s like playing a piano made of feathers, lol.

Awsome. did you get my friend request on PS3 online. You should test out that new stick online with some street fighter. hit me up.

Yeah i saw it, about to confirm it actually. I’m gonna watch a movie w/ my girl but I’ll be on this weekend probably

Nice work 5w! Really clean and very very nice colour scheme. Love your work mate.

Where do you go to get it(the graphic) made? I never did anything like that so I’m a bit of a noob on getting good graphics made for sticks.

This looks like fun. I will be modding soon I hope. New seimitsus plus a jlf.

you mean get it printed? i took it to copyworks, its a local place here, kinda like a kinkos. i asked them about lamilabel and they didn’t know what i was talking about haha, so for future reference i’d recommend just saying “hey, i need you to laminate a color print with a sticky/adhesive back” haha.

if you’re talking about how i made it i used photoshop and illustrator. used illustrator to clean up the lines in the vega image, colored it in photoshop, layed it out on the template in photoshop.

Yeah, that helps a lot. Is it just like a laminated sheet of paper with an adhesive back?

I’m still pretty damn torn between getting this or a SE stick. It seems like I could play with the hori for a bit before I get the sanwa/seimitsu parts.

Man i’m trying to figure out whether I want to order LS-32 or LS-33 for this. It seems the Ls-33 fits nicely, but I’m not sure I want to use the shorter shaft.

Right now I’m searching the thread over again for someone who successfully put an LS-32-1 in their stick.

What all did you have to do to get the LS-32-01 to fit?

Well My LS-32-01 is mounted directly to the metal template. I cut out the plastic square where the original hori stick was with a dremel and I took of the S mounting plate of the LS-32-01 and used it to mark my holes on the metal template. Then I drilled the holes and mounted it straight to the template without the mounting plate. after this I had to drill a hole on the bottom metal plate so the shaft doesn’t rub against it. Hope this helps.

It helps lots! Now a question. Did you have to drill a hole? Could you have just ground down that part of the plate instead or does the end of the shaft extend too far??

Yes you can just grind down but i didn’t feel like wasting my grinding wheels on my dremel. Drilling a hole is faster, easier, and you’ll know for sure you won’t have to worry about the shaft rubbing against the bottom.

Is there a post in this thread anywhere that has step-by-step instructions on how to replace the buttons with Sanwas? I want to make sure I do it right. I’ve looked through the majority of the thread and didn’t see what I needed.

You’re either an idiot or a liar. This is the second post on page 1.

Those aren’t step-by-step instructions. That’s just someone saying “do this,” not how to do it. I don’t know what a dremel is. I don’t know what certain things he’s talking about are. I don’t have the stick yet. I wanted instructions on how to mod it before I bought it, so I could get everything I need to do so and make sure I go in with knowledge of what I’m doing. Nice flame, by the way. I hope everyone on SRK isn’t as anger-laden as you. I would look through every post in the thread, but 42 pages is a bit too steep.

Just because there isnt a step by step instructional guide. That doesn’t mean that you cannot find all of the information you need in order to do this mod in this guide. If you go through all of the pages, you will find links to other threads with videos/pics so look at all of the pages, you dont necessarily have to read everything.

Yeah, check out coverless tech’s videos in the other FS3 thread. I’ve never modded a stick before or soldered and I was able to mod mine fine with what was made available in this thread. Its easier when you’re actually doing it…the first time I looked at this thread I was overwhelmed but it turned out fine in the end.

I know what you mean about having to read through 42 pages, haha. I think the PCB pic is on page 7, that’ll take you through what you need to know for wiring, and the JLF mounting guide is somewhere in here too but since I used an LS-33 page 31 was my friend.

Check out this other thread, most of the same info in here but organized much better:

Hey everyone,

This thread has helped me mod a FS3 to use on an Xbox 360, which will be going to a friend of mine.

When I’m done, I don’t think I’ll use the original PCB for anything, so if anyone needs one to fix a damaged one or to build a custom stick, I’ll have no problem giving it away. Of course, I’d rather send it to someone who really needs it. I’ll post back when I finish modding it to make sure it works with the 360 and I won’t need the PCB for a late rebuild that I probably won’t use on my PS3.

I planned on doing the same mod on another one I got for me, but the space is indeed limited. It’s good for the price, though I’ll probably go a custom build.

Edit: PCB is spoken for.
