Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

What’s the best side to solder the wires to on this PCB?

OK, this is my finished product, my Ninja Stick!!! I’ve made alot of changes:
-Sanwa JLF stick
-Seimitsu clear black buttons
-‘Mirror black’ paint on the top panel
-Glued washers on the inside to make it heavier and more stable for lap play

The seimitsu buttons are a little stiffer than the sanwas, but they look sexy enough with the paint to be worth it. They also work better than sanwas if you tend to be tough on the button.

I’ve been playing lots of Tekken 5 and SFIV with it, and it is very smooth. I never miss a move!

Very nice mod guys I’m loving these schemes and fluffystuff very clean insides very nice work.

Fluffystuff - may I ask your source for the plastic wire tubing on the stick harness and the labeled tabs you used in the wiring there in your FS3 mod? I need to pretty up the innards of a past mod and I like what you did there.

fluffy, stunning work on the internals; nice and clean
carn, love the ninja look

Hi as a first post I’d like to clarify that I’m not completely without tact as to have come here in an attempt to asking a question without good reason; even after reading the thread over a few times like a textbook I’m still hazy about a few things and I want to see if my math adds up :xeye:

I wanted to know what my options are if I wanted to keep the bottom plate intact. I faintly recall something about spacers, or perhaps sticking with the stock Hori shaft, or any number of other ideas offered and I wanted to know which solution holds up the best. If I stick with the stock Hori shaft in an attempt to fuze a Sanwa/Hori hybrid stick mentioned a few posts back, will custom ball tops still fit?

and on a less complicated note, will solderless qcs on Seimitsu PS-14-KNs make their installation a cinch? I remember something said about a simple snip-job to the wiring being all that’s needed for these and wondered if this correlates somehow.

Well my mind is still swimming with information it’d be great if I could get some clarification, sorry if I sound totally mixed up

oh and so I can be of at least some use, a quick preview of the art I’m planning to apply:

hey guys and girls.

im new here (and from germany, so sry for my englisch  )
and have a qustions.

i bought 2 fs3s vor my ps3 but i dont like it.

the stick is crap imo and the buttons arn’t that well either.

so im thinking about putting the stick and the 6 buttons from my dreamcast-stick in one of my fs3s.

now is my question: the dreamcast stick has just 1 ground wire.
can i just put 1 from the fs3 to the stick?

an do you now what kind of stick the dreamcast-stick is?
imo its so much better then the stick in the fs3.

I think I’ve finally nailed down what I’m gonna get for mine. I’m going with an LS-33 (with a Sanwa ball top instead because their color selection is better) and a set of 8 of the osbf-30’s, should be a fairly simple mod, right? I’m leaving the PCB and such the same.

Also, have any of you guys checked out the TE/SE thread? Theres an awesome template in there that lets you take your artwork and use a photoshop action to map it onto a photo of the stick to get a mockup of what it’d look like with your image, stick color, and button color choices. If anyone’s interested in a sort of mockup like that for the FS3? If so I’d be down to make one

Hey guys, I just ordered my FS3 stick from Amazon for $50CDN, I checked the first 19 pages and I’m worried about my equipment and process.
I have hardly any soldering experience and never done this before, is the button swap merely just tab shaving and re-soldering the buttons to their respective piece?
I will have to order my stick, buttons and buy the required tools(dremel and solder sucker thing). Hopefully this will go well and oh yea, which stick fits near perfectly?
Thanks in advance!!

Same concerns as I had, as far as what I know from reading the thread, the Seimitsu LS-33 Fits the easiest. Lizardlick doesnt have it though so you have to get it from Akihabarashop.jp or one of the other suppliers.

I would love it if you could make up something like that, aswell as a template for the stick like the ones posted in that thread. because I have not been able to find a template, which would make it so much easier to take that somewhere to have it printed.

Hmmm, can’t save on shipping, might as well get my shopping done at Akihabarashop. So what am I needed to buy for the mod minus the tools I am missing?
-Stick(does it come with everything I need?)
-Buttons x6 (keeping the two stock buttons, dunno how to fill in the hole)
I’m not sure since I don’t have the stick yet but will I need wires and the stick lube?

Just looking over the sticks, what should I pick for the second choice after the color?

I think the second choices are parts related to that particular stick…I dont think that you’re required to pick any of that stuff, as far as I know the stick comes complete. And yeah, I think you’ll need your own wireunless its possible to use whats already connected to the PCB. I’d ask one of the more experienced modders though

Tried searching for this but didn’t see an answer…

The turbo function on my FS3 likes to turn on by itself once in a while, and won’t turn off until I cycle it in whatever way. Can I simply disconnect those parts from the daughterboard or do I need some sort of termination?

Cool, hopefully this project goes smoothly~
Only remember a bit of soldering in my time in auto shop…its not hard but its gonna take some time to perfect it.

Do any of you guys have any photos from an** LS-33 modded FS3** that you could share w/ the thread since a few of us seem to be heading in that direction?

Anybody who needs help figuring out where to solder on the PCB should checkmy diagram.

^Sweet, picture saved for future reference when I get my stuff!
Thanks!

If you could make one that would make my day!!

I’m just waiting for my parts, much like yours, and preparing myself for my first mod/solder job ever! =)

Question,

Is it necessary to have a Rotary Tool (dremel) for this project? If i’m just shaving off the little points in the button hole is it worth it? Dremels are like $30 + in my country and I would rather not spend $$. What other alternatives are there?

Just have a question about the art, how are you guys putting it one? Do you print it out then laminate it or something? How are you gluing it on? Thanx for any help.
