I’m curious as to where people are putting the PCB in the case when they are done modding it if they are using quick disconnects instead of soldering the buttons onto the PCB again as it is originally. I received my HFS3 yesterday and was surprised at how shallow the casing is.
I’m kinda wondering that too. Seems like people are just covering the metal back with duct tape and squeezing everything in there.
I saw in the tutorial thread that Faux123 posted that he attached the PCB’s to the metal base on the inside. But what did he use? Hopefully he will see this thread again soon and provide some insite.
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=176186 (this is his thread BTW. Modded a wii Fs3, but same design.)
So i was looking at the PCB and stock joystick that comes with the HFS3, and there are 8 soldering points for the Joystick. How would i go about soldering up the Sanwa JLF stick that has a 5 pin harness with only 5 wires and not 8?
Hey guys. I’m currently swapping out my FS3 parts with Sanwa stuff, and I was wondering if it is possible to get the Fighting Stick 3 to talk to a 360 by pulling out a PCB from a 360 wired controller and soldering the connections onto it.
Has anyone tried this? Alternatively is it possible to mod a Fighting Stick EX2 to have 8 buttons?
I used double sided tape (3M) + super glue to mount the PCB to the metal plate.
I also created a new website http://www.canonspike.com to capture all the tutorials I’ve put here on SRK. Look under [Joy Stick Mods].
Thanks Faux for the info. Did you use superglue around the outside of the PCB or just in select areas of the board? Also about the start/select/home board at the top of the casing, can I replace the wires that are glued there with new wires, and solder them on? Because I too am thinking of doing a clamshell way of opening it up. And those stock wires are not nearly long enough.
The Sixaxis Battery sits underneath the PCB, so I just put super glue to 4 corners of the Battery. The battery acts as a standoff for the PCB. I also SUPER GLUED the battery to the PCB by gluing the 2 white plastic battery holder to the PCB then the battery to the 2 white plastic battery holder.
So I didn’t extend the original battery wires since I am using battery underneath the PCB.
Hey guys. Had my FS3 for about 10 months now and I’ve never liked it. Decided to order some parts from Gremlinsolutions. When ordering the JLF they mention that the “JLF-H 5-Pin cable NOT included.” Do I need this cable and what is it for? Thanks a lot.

Anyone have the art template for the ps3 Fighting Stick 3? I thought I had something bookmarked but when I went back and looked it was for the ex2, heh.
You’ll need it to make wiring easier.
Perfect, thanks for the reply.
Now to call gremlin later and ask if they can add that to my order before it’s shipped.
Hello,
I have a Fighting Stick 3 for PS3 which I got cheap from ebay maybe six months ago. I do not have a PS3 and the purpose at that time was to use it for PC Gaming.
Now that Street Fighter IV is out though I really feel the need to modify it to work on my Xbox 360, which should be cheaper than buying a brand new compatible stick.
I have the wired controller which also works on PC, so I’m guessing I need to swap out the PCB from the stick and use the one in the 360 controller.
Is there anything in particular that I should think about when trying this? If anyone has done this on a Hori PS3 stick, could you share your knowledge?
Is it as easy as to desolder the PCB from the stick and solder the wires to the controller PCB? Do I need anything else besides some bits to open the controllers and soldering iron ?
Thanks.
Is there enough space within the FS3 for a duel PCB mod? Or are you intending to swap PCB’s entirely?
The initial idea was to take out the Hori board completely and put in the 360 controller PCB instead and solder and map the arcade buttons and stick to the controller PCB. Don’t know if that would work though.
I saw someone in this thread at some point cut out spaces the to the size and shape of the bottom of the stick and used theat to make the whole thing thicker. Maybe you could do that to make more space. Though if you’re just putting a 360 PCB in there I’d think there would be enoug space for that if you took out the stock PCB. Honestly I’m the least knowledgable person to be talking on this. Everything I’m saying is just conjecture.
The pad hacking thread probably has a good deal of useful informaton.
I decided on what parts to order for mine, does anyone know an easy way to add some weight to this thing?
My first mod.
Hori Fighting Stick 3 with JLF-TP-8YT Sanwa joystick, Sanwa Restrictor GT-Y and 8
Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons.

So, I didn’t see anything turn up in search, not sure if this has been asked before. But how can I replace the stock stick’s shaft cover? DIY is fine, measurements and stuff would be great.
I’m curious as to how people got the sticker over the top of the screws on the top plate? I thought that you had to put the sticker on the plate before putting in the buttons. But then wouldnt you have th put the screws through the sticker?
