So i decided to go through pretty much every post in this thread and i noticed that this is possibly the best way to mount the joysticks
Question is what tool should be used to make those screw holes.
@SD5k. arn’t all Sanwa JLF joysticks the same? So just pick any one of em with the mountin plate you prefer. Your going to have to make a mod(no way to avoid this) on the case itself. Depending on which mod you want to go with, maybe the JLF itself will also needed to be modded as well.
if you really don’t want to solder. then you can remove the pcb from the sanwa, buy some QDs, cut off the original wires from the original stock stick(don’t cut off from the pcb), strip the wires a bit, and use QDs. Sorry if it sounds long, but its simpler than it sounds.
Stock stick modded with Sanwa octagonal gate and softer Cherry switches. Seimitsu red ball top and red PS-15 slim snap-in buttons. Cthulhu PCB (Thanks Toodles!).
Wiring is messy, but it all works fine. I’m mostly satisfied for this being my first mod, but if I could go back, I would have been more careful with the paint job. It came out okay, just not quite the way I envisioned it. As for functionality, it works like a dream! :lovin::lovin::lovin:
I’d like to swap out the pcb in my fs3 for a Chtulu but I don’t know how big those pcbs are. Can anyone tell me if theres enough room for one of those and some kind of weights so it won’t move around so much in my lap?
Edit: Wow…theres a pic of it right above my post. Anyways anyone have any idea’d of what I could use to weigh it down?
Let me ask you something or anyone that can answer it, i dont see the regular PCB board that was in there are you telling me that you can swap it out with that other thing that you have in there
Yes, I swapped the boards. The other board is a Cthulhu, which adds PC and Playstation 3 support. However, I can no longer use the stick on the Wii. A small price to pay for a decent MAME stick.
hi. i just got a hori fs3 for the ps3. and i want a new stick. but i want a bat stick and im thinking about going with the sanwa but which one would be a good bat for and easy install?
thanks
thanks for responding . yeah any bat style will be fine. im just not used to the ball style. ive been playing with the bat style for yrs. kinda hard to switch to a ball.
Sanwa JLW-UM-8 Bat will this work… or can i kinda switch the stick with the happ i know the happ is very nice feel to it. or i just better off just making a new box?
Its the same top, but for the FS3 you need to buy one of the screw size converter things. I got mine at lizardlick, should be right under the bat top they sell.
Its a really simple mod, and if you throw an octagonal gate in it feels a bit more normal than a regular japanese stick would if you prefer american style sticks.
i have two FS3 sticks and i am looking to mod one(willing to learn on this one). its a little scattered as to exactly which stick i should get and exactly which buttons fit without doing too much cutting(lack of tools). if need be i will go purchase a dremmel set but i just need to know what works in here…the stock stick is ENTIRELY TOO LOOSE and inaccurate. i would like to do a bat top if it wont be too tall kinda like the korean sticks.
stick art is another question…anyone know who to ask for stick art for this? the other thread is dead where other people usually request it from a particular person
so just to be clear to change the buttons to ANY other button…i need to file down the tabs in the holes? just desoldered and resoldered the buttons on one that i just had sittin around for the first time and it was pretty easy and it still works so im happy.
i know with some buttons you have to bend the contacts a little because they may be bigger or smaller than the previous buttons…or do the say Sanway OBSF 30’s just slide right in and just need to be soldered? and the stick swap would be just resoldering the points on to the new stick correct?
I"m considering picking up another Fighting Stick 3 and modding it with Sanwa parts. That would get me an all sanwa stick for around $100 fortunately, I could just use my Gamestop store credit to buy the Fighting Stick 3. I’m a super noob to this scene though so It’ll take a lot more research before I’m ready for something like that.
