Thats awesome. I’ve been wondering what buttons to get for minimal difficulty in modding my fs3 once it gets her in the mail. Which seimitsu buttons are those?
So I found a Sanwa JLF on ebay, Ordered it and 8 sanwa OBSF 30 buttons off of lizard lick. Can’t wait to get all my stuff in the mail.
It shouldn’t ruin anything as long as the MadCatz stick’s microswitches are laid out the same. I am modding an FS3 with an octagonal restrictor; I followed these instructions with the plate and it fits fine on both my Sanwa JLF and on the stock Hori stick. Hope this answered your question! :wgrin:
Thanks for the assist. I don’t want to have to buy one for the FS3 and buy another for the Madcatz TE. If I had to do that I would just wait and buy one when the TE comes out.
I presume I will have to do the drilling though through the gate for the screws?

Basically my FS3 (PS3) won’t connect to my PC/PS3. It worked at first but after a few months of non-use it doesn’t register when plugged in anymore. It still gets power but that’s it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
You’re quite welcome!
Yeah, you’ll have to do the drilling yourself, but it’s really freakin’ easy.
Any decent drill bit will chew through that thin plastic like hot butter. :looney:
There should be pics of the process somewhere in this thread…
last i checked FS3 was either a yes or no to whether it will work on PC or not
as for why i doesn’t connect to your ps3. well im stumped on that. Hack a ps3 controller maybe?
It used to work fine with both but recently won’t sync up with either and that’s where I’m stumped.
I’ve heard some rumors about Hori PCBs dying after a while for no reason…
My suggestion would be to get a Cthulhu PCB and replace your stick’s guts with that.
Well, sort of off topic, but recently my modded Mayflash started malfunctioning. Currently the USB split doesn’t work, but the PS2 does. Me thinks the USB circuitry is very delicate and I must’ve damaged it while soldering.
Maybe that’s what could’ve happened. If you didn’t solder it, maybe USB controllers aren’t very well built.
Yup, thanks, I even saved that post and images to my HDD just in case last week.
For you people attempting to find the right layout for this controller, this layout will help you guys start it out.

This thread is super great! I picked up 2 fs3s in near by cities. I ordered the a jlf and some sanwa buttons. Hopefully I can get it all setup. The last post layout is too small. I printed it out and cut it but it didnt fit. How is it supposed to be printed out? Or what is the size layout in photoshop? Thanks for all the help and Ill post pics and a writeup once I begin.

Can you really connect all the buttons on a HFS3 to that PCB?
networkingyuppy already posted a blank layout on p20
if it’s still too small try printing at a larger dpi(or just enlarge it yourself)
the cthulhu board has support for 2 extra buttons(the first post of the thread has a link to the pinout)
Thanks Twinniss, Ill try that.
Sorry, they’re PS-14-KN.
Sanwa buttons are ridiculously harder to get into a FS3… I have 6 OBSNs and the layout of the microswitch connectors just makes it hard.
For the PS-14-KNs, you just have to cut off the outer-half of the connector, which takes like 5 seconds per button to do. For the OBSNs, you’ll have to cut and bend them with pliers and use a lot of time tweaking your connectors to make sure they fit in, while the PS-14-KNs just slide in after the simple cuts.
Hi.
Im currently trying to mod my fighting stick hori with a original 360 wired pad. I installed a microswitch wich switches all 4 usb lines. This works on the pc. switch position 1 = 360 and switch position 2 = ps3.
If i now connect 2 wires from 360 r1 to ps3 r1 the button is pressed immediately when switch is set to 360. Why?
How to fix this?
Thanks in advance
Edit: Seems to be the “Common Ground’” Problem. I need to get a MadCatz stick…
REPOSTED FROM THE “I LOVE MY CUSTOM” THREAD:
o hai guise wuts going on in this thread?:looney:
…So here’s a stick I’m working on for my little bro. I took a hori FSWii and modded the shit out of it. Lil bro doesn’t play Wii fighters, so I gutted the case and dremeled out a screw post so I can put in a Cthulhu multiconsole later. Kept the stock stick, swapped out switches and gate for Cherries and a Sanwa octagonal, respectively. I’m really diggin’ the feel, so I’m thinking about modding my JLF with Cherries and a Hori spring. :lovin:
Seimitsu balltop and PS-15 extra-thin snap-in buttons. Left daughterboard for start/select/home buttons in and restored functionality by soldering signal and ground wires to their respective traces; will be connected to respective inputs on the Cthulhu. The turbo switches are disabled 'cuz nobody likes a cheater. :wgrin:

I’m thinking about modding my HFS3, but I can’t find which Sanwa JLF stick is the easiest to fit into it. I’m not very good at soldering nor do I want to mod the JLF itself very much. Any suggestions?
