Modding the Hori Fighting Stick 3

ahh ok cool im going to go with the snap ins, just not sure what dremmeling out the little tabs mean but im guessing itll explain in that link u gave me. well thanks for the help ill keep posting if i have anymore questions :slight_smile:

one more questions guys, i dont have the stick yet so i dont have the measurements of the metal panel that rests on top of the actual joystick where the buttons and joystick go into, i need it because im going to put a graphic on top of it. thanks for the help. oh and the stick is a hori fighting stick 3.

Its not a rectangular shape and these are just rough measurments. I highly suggest that when you get the art you make it about 3 cms more on each side to make sure it fits.

width = 26.2 cm
length = 14.5 cm
Depth = 4cm

sweet ill be us ing those measurements for sure, thanks again. so have u been doing this for a long time u seem to know your stuff lol

Pardon the ignorance, but I just picked up a FS3 yesterday afternoon and am just now reading about modding.

So…is it possible just to swap the square gate out for an octagonal one? I’m not aggravated enough with the buttons or stick itself yet, but the octagonal gate on my local SF4 machine really spoiled me. Thanks advance for the answer(s).

The stick that is in the HFS3 doesn’t look like it would accept an octagonal gate.

lol not true, it’s a simple mod actually to the restrictor itself

i do not know if it will work the same with a seimitsu restrictor, but i would think it would

Wow, wrong choice.

Hm… cool. I guess it does then lol.

Wow…this is exactly what the doctor ordered. Thanks a bunch. :woot:

will a LB-35 Joystick Ball Top fit on my hori fighting stick 3 the paint layout i may do for the stick may cause me to change it to a dark blue or red ball top. thanks again guys :slight_smile:

Yes!

sweet!

hi everyone
i got my fs3 a couple weeks ago and im going to mod it
ive ordered my parts jlf + buttons from lizardlick
now what i want to know is what i need to do to turn the JLF-TP-8T into the TP-8Y-SK
from what ive read, all i have to do is:
remove the mounting plate
rotate the pcb
put on the JLF-CD
correct?
plus 6 buttons = 12 quick disconnects?

I’m looking to mod my FS3 with an american bat style stick, but haven’t found any info on which ones are compatible.

Would the Happ 8-Way Competition Joystick work? Would I have to buy a separate mounting plate or anything of the like? Anyone have experience with this, or know of a better one with full 360’ rotation (as oppose to the square restrictor).

well i modded my fight stick 3 with full sanwa
this is the final result
http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stickcompletehs7.jpg

i really screwed up on the hole drilling on the jlf so i had to mount it a different way
i sawed off the top plastic on the case
http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sticksawedsg5.jpg

then i drilled 4 holes and sinked them to mount the jlf on it
http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sticktoppanelpn0.jpg

wired it up
whats funny is that the wires that go from the main pcb to the top one all broke off
so i had to re-solder those too not fun
also soldered wires to wires cause i didnt have long enough wires lol
http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stickwiresjm0.jpg

but ya it came out great and if i want to i can put all seimitsu in it
not bad for my first mod eh?

I don’t think that will fit dude I put a lot smaller stick in and then I had to dent out the bottom so it would fit. If you really have to have a bat top lizard lick sells the adapter so that the sanwa bat top will fit almost all japanese sticks.

baka-blue that is cool as hell mod I love those black with grey plunger buttons on that medal. People now are going to tell you to paint it but if you don’t I’ll understand because I think that industrial look is hot.

thanks ruggedman
ya i dont care much about art/paintin it
maybe ill even scratch it up some for some character lol

o ya

i put a half folded piece of paper between the pcb and bottom panel too ghetto style

Good stuff baka-blue, looks pretty sweet. Smart way to mount the JLF.

Not to be a downer, but when you switch to another stick its going to feel weird because the way you have it has a lot of the stick sticking out. Its normally mounted lower than you have it. Not too much of a biggie though lol.

Just thought i’d post mine

Sanwa Jlf
8x Seimitsu PS-14-KN buttons
