dude the JLF and LS-33 when mounted correctly will have almost the exact same shaft length above the control panel, maybe differing by a millimeter or 2. If you want a taller stick, then put a bat top on it (you will need to buy a Sanwa bat top and a bat top adapter). That will give you a cm or so of extra height. There is no need to top mount it for a bit of extra height.
I don’t want a bat top I like the ball top so I’m top mounting my ls33 right now but I do appreciate the advice.
So I mounted both sticks(the same) in my hf3 and there was an almost centimeter difference not mill. I took out the shaft of both and took a pic for you.

no fucking shit as your not fucking mounting the JLF correctly. The JLF has about 9mm of shaft below the fucking panel if mounted correctly, thus making the amount of visible shaft about equal.
Yes I realize this but it still fills to short with the ls33 not top mounted. The jlf shaft size is fine. Oh and you are so badass now that your mommy lets you say fuck after every word you should change your name to billy badass or just ass.
uh it’s not too short. you have to dremel out the plastic mounting area for the hori stick so so it’s flush with the rest of the plastic. You may also have to take the fucking mounting plate off. You will have drill holes in the metal control panel and mount it to that. you can’t be lazy. if it’s too short for you then you just don’t know what your talking about and besides, top mounting on metal is fucking impossible so whatever you are doing, you are not doing it right. So just go fuck yourself and get a custom stick with american parts and stop bitching about how japanese ones don’t work when correctly mounted. If you don’t want to do that, then quit you bitching about stuff you don’t know shit about and post some fucking pics so that people can actually help you with your gd problem.
Spoken like a true internet thug. So I actually did exactly what you said except for removing the mounting plate and heres another pic just for you

…
and guess what its to short it doesn’t feal rite. Now here is my collection granted I am new and only collecting for about 5 months but I do know a little and this one is really just for you.

two were blank cases including yellow kevlar big pocket case which I put in a sixaxis(I hacked) and all seimitsu parts not bragging just showing you I know a little more than you might think.
LS-32 mod done on Agetec. Transcribe to Hori FS3
Here’s a pic of what I was going to try to put into writing. Maybe you can apply it to the HSF3? Also, Ive seen this mod done to a similarly shallow dept Hori stick and the modder utilized the stock ‘S’ mounting plate too.

I would have used some spacers and the stock ‘S’ plate instead of making a new mounting plate.

That’s just how the LS-33 is but the layer of plastic inbetween the metal control panel and the mounting plate is what’s probably causing the trouble. You will gain 1.6mm of height by taking the mounting plate off. BTW, probably zero of those sticks have Japanese sticks at the standard mounting height. The yellow kevlar one was made by Big Pockets who tends to mount shit at whatever looks better to him, the Starman uses an LS-40 which is mounts higher than any other Jap stick (It is 2-3mm longer than an LS-32 but is mounted directly below the panel like an LS-32) , the Joker stick uses a Korean Fanta stick or is a copy of a Byrdo stick that does, the red stick has a battop, and god knows what the mirror top stick has.
Maybe you should have bought a custom 360 stick instead of buying five playstation ones.
You are correct the Byrdo is a Fanta ,Starman is LS-40 my favorite, red battop is a JLW and the Mirror is a JLF with an octagon gate . I do appreciate you responding to me like a real person so thank you for that. And you are more than likely rite it’s probably my preference of liking a taller stick. I don’t own a 360 stick since I only play TekkenDR and now Sc4 and I actually bought 9 sticks for the playstation.
Notanoob that actually does help I’m gonna try that Thank you.
So I just bought my first pad (FS3) and I’m considering the possibility of modding it. How hard would it be for someone who only rarely does soldering (last time was about a year ago )? I think I’ll purchase 8x buttons + stick if I’ll ever get around to modding it, since currently my plan is to use the un-modded controller until I have enough money to get em.
All done and I like it much better(ls33 mounted this way)

I also painted the metal, and sorry I can’t take a good pic for the life of me.

And thank you for lighting that fire under my ass EvilSamuri.Seriously.
Why plug up the first two buttons instead of the two rightmost ones?
Funny I didn’t even think about it because even when I play SC4 I keep the tekken style setup, but when I tried to use all the buttons after I read your post it was obvious that the far left buttons would be better. Thanks again.
Another rad FS3 mod++
What does the underside look like?
1st off got to say thank you too everyone in this thread and all srk for knowledge for modding these. This is my 1st mods ever. I can’t stop making these!
first off is my second mod ever, 1st was a EX2 360 i destroyed. (case getting pad hacked rebuilt later)
sanwa buttons seimetsu bubbletop. rest stock, paint is really poor i was getting practice.
Top image photoshopped abit and overlay is backing from action figure plastic!
had a Arcana Heart 2 button layout in mind just kept other 3 buttons as well.
you can prolly notice with color ordering. also added handle for lugging around the house of events/meets.

no pic insides for this one, soldering looks like freddy krugers face believe me.
3rd FS3 mod i did "Lilith in the Digital World"
sanwa buttons seimetsu bubbletop octagon sanwa gate on stock stick
artwork photo shopped overlay figure plastic again. poorly cut see thru bottom which was fun. painted red weights from a large ankle weight hot glued inside. (this thing is heavy!) and “Lilith carved into side” my sanding is really rough, but it came out ok. wiring is skipped over so playstation buttons start at leftmost side then R1 R2. L1 L2 are gone. next mod im going to put them on the side with little buttons.

next FS3 im starting gonna make see thru top and respace out buttons for Seimetsu clear screw ins. also going to take apart entire stack for cleaner paint.
learn somthing new with each mod.
credit to everyone scans, art, and sprite rips I ganked for my sticks.
^real nice.
is there a way to play with this stick on my laptop? bc i cant find any drivers forit. and i wana learn stick since my cuzin got it an he never uses it
nope.
Good work Cobra. Awesome!
@ Sniperwolf25
There are drives but its hit or miss working, mostly miss. Couldn’t get mine to work on 3 different pcs I tried.
