Well, I did that and to my disappointment it didn’t help my problem at all. I guess its my PCB thats the problem, and not the button itself. Sigh, new stick…here I come.
shockingly…
I decided to start moddiong my mayflash ahead of schedule, and lo and behold, the Crown Buttons fell RIGHT THROUGH the new mayflash sticks… Seems like they somehow wised up and set the pushbutton hole sizes to 29mm, too large for a crown yet still too small for a sanwa. Pfft this just made my day. I now have to buffer my crown buttons so they stay in place. The snap in buttons still have a freen mm of moving room and so i need to find something to keep them in place. i dont want to use glue.
Edit: found 7/8" x 11/16" O rings to hold the buttons down. now im just having uissues gettignt he joystick out. the screw is stuck so tight that it has already stripped off in the attempt of getting the ball top off to dismount the stick. any help?
Edit: Found out that they super glued the balltop AFTER i dropped a clamp on the stick and drilled it out. sigh the things they do to stop you form modding.
just take the body apart, or pop off the e-clamp at the bottom.
was this directed at me?
if so i dont know what your talking about, sorry.
i got myself 203A snapins and they droped in no problem, but they wont stay still. there is an extra 1.5mm of space inside the hole which surprised me because noone else seemed to have listed this problem. I messed around and figured out a way to get it to stay in place indefinitely
7/8" x11/16" O rings do the trick, pretty efficiently as well. Slip right on under the button and fits snugly up against the wall to lock it in place. fortunately i was thinking about sex at the time and the idea popped into my head.
I was talking about taking off the original stick.
Warpticon used Crown CWB 203 C on his Mayflash.
Went in with no issues he say.
djchen011032, I feel responsible for what happened.
I should buy the Crown CWB 203 A Buttons from you.
So sorry.
meh, dont worry about it, i found way around keeping the buttons in place.
If i hadnt been so pissed off i probably wouldnt have found my solution heh.
Who wouldve thought that the same O ring used to repair my faucet could be used to make my buttons fit? hahaha.
*Warpticon: info a bit late heh, i brute forced the screw till it was pretty much flattened. and then the ball finally snapped out.
Okay so i’m new to this board and this whole modding my joysticks thing and i have been working on a mayflash for the past few days and I finished today. All the buttons work when i try them however My joystick a sanwa jlf-tp-8yt only seems to want to signal up when i press ANY of the directions.
Any suggestions??
how have you got the wires setup for the stick? are you using the sanwa jlf wire harness?
Are the grounds properly wired up?
edit: in my mayflash modding experience, i’ve given up on my problem posted earlier in this page, i’m now just putting a MC Cthulhu in it, i’ve just ordered my neutrik parts and will order some extension cords soon for ps2, xbox and gamecube
Yeah im using the wire harness and i’ve got them wired to the pcb via the connections already coming out of the board. I have them wired correctly (i know that for sure) for the directions. However i read online that I only have to wire one ground so my up is the only one with a connected ground. could that be the problem??
i’m pretty sure the mayflash is a common ground board, it shouldn’t matter, probably a stupid question, but are you sure you’ve connected the active wires for the others?
I believe some mayflash’s had black as the active wire.
Yeah i have the black connections acting as the active and the red as the ground. I’m gonna check the connections and try again.
yeah i would trace back the pcb and make sure the red isn’t the active…
Well i have all the grounds disconnected and the actives still wired and i can connect each directions ground and that direction will respond however when i do multiple ones it only picks up one direction as being pushed.
Hmm. My stick is fritzing out on me, and I haven’t had the time to figure out why yet. Until I get it fixed, continuation of my guide is on hold. I mean… all the information needed is already in this thread for the most part, so it shouldn’t be heartbreaking, but I hate having to put something off.
Finally starting to get parts flowing in, slowy but surely. Just a quick run down for people who want to mod and for example have no tools at all. Here is a complete pricelist of what it cost me to purchase all the components to start this mod. cry. Not to discourage anyone of course. Total Cost Of Aquiring All Components For Mod = $220 with S+H Charges.
Quite a hefty sum if you dont already have tools/ parts laying around eh?
I havent even included prices of work tools because i’m assuming some already have them. and they are quite expensive by themselves.
Oh wow.
Cost you that much?
How you feel about it?
Still cool that you get to do modification?
For that price can get really cool Custom too.
Or maybe special Hori Real Arcade Pro.
Well considering i didnt have any general purpose tools to begin with, id say i could probably use them somewhere down the line outside of stick modding. If i had allt he general purpose tools thent his mod wouldve jsut cost me under $100 heh.
Still waiting on lizard licks to ship my items lol, mehness.
Yeah for $220 i couldve gotten me a custom with Gold plated buttons and gold plated balltop lol.
Ive seems some of the customs in the trade section, ranging from 125 to no more then 200. lol.
For practical purposes…
Soldering Kit/Desoldering i can use for everyday repairs anyways.
O rings i can use if my faucet ever needs a replacement =O
You never know when you might need wires, heck i keep a box of 500ft CAT5 in my house with networking tools.
Contact cleaner is good for general purpose cleaning on electronics as well.
Spray adhesive is a pretty good area glue.
Gloss sealant isnt that useful but i figure it out.
oh and the bottom should say…
Being able to say “I made it” is self-gratifying in its own right.
Well thats for another day when i can actually get this mod underway.
damn i probably spent more cuz I bought a dremel…but I didnt matter to me since I bought it over maybe 5 months?? so I didnt spend that much money on one time…well except for the sanwa parts
Well, O-rings came in, and they fit perfectly. still waiting on LizardLicks to ship my JLF, and a camera to take pictures with… sigh. lol
