Hi all. I’m fairly new player (SSFIV is my first SF title), and I’ve got a few questions about what I can do to up my game with Juri.
First off, safe jumping. Against Ken, for instance, SJ j.hk seems to be DP-able no matter how I time it. If SJ’ing isn’t viable against him, what can I do to capitalize on untechable knockdowns? Are there other SJ setups that I’m not aware of?
Second off, baiting. When I land a knockdown against someone I haven’t fought before, I typically play it safe the first one or two times to see if they are going to try a reversal.
Unfortunately, scenarios like the following are frustratingly too common, and I believe I know why. For example, I knock down Ryu, then walk up like I’m going to throw or insta-j.faps, but then block low to try to bait a DP. He gets up for free. Second time, same thing. Then, the very first time I try any sort of meaty, or do anything other than let him get up for free, I eat a DP in the face.
I don’t think this is because the players I’m facing have magical wakeup-option selects of doom, but rather, because of my own lack of ability to put out a bait that is believable.
What sort of options do I have to make my bait more believable without getting counter-hit?
Thirdly, what are some good basic frame traps that are easy to work into a real fight? It seems like whenever I try to add something new to my game, I usually find myself in over my head, and unable to apply it practically in an actual fight.
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it. :pleased:
