"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

I’m just taking an enjoyable break. I can’t play the game competitive anymore only casual. You tried to play Juri competitive as have I and you know gimmicks might work against a good player for a round or even a game but what it ultimately come down to is skill and having great tools to back them up. Juri has some decent tools but it takes an amazing player to really utilize them well. I’ll be back because I love Juri’s character design and gameplay. The only way I won’t be back is if she’s an added character in MVC3 and they went all out with her character design like the way she was meant to be before they overbalanced her in SSF4.

lol, dont know him. But ive faced exosoldier b4, looks like he doesnt remember how legit my Juri is :P.

Just thought I’d drop by and say that although I haven’t being much SSFIV lately ( MvC3 has being eating up my time ) , I’m still representing with Juri. I’m slowly starting to pick up SSF4 again as well though the motivation for that is there is a local tournie coming up and theres going to be a salty run back between me and a Bison player there ( yes, I’ve gone over the notes re Bison here. )

I’d like MvC3 more if things weren’t so broken ( like Sentinel, a match up system thats put up against players way too better than me, netcode ) that said, its still a fun game and like everyone else here, I still want to see Juri in MvC3 but I want her to be the direct opposite of her SSFIV counterpart; Top tier, op and eats Sentinel for breakfast ( yeah, I really hate Sentinel. )

i dont particularly like MvC3, but somehow i managed to win both a MvC3 and BBCS local today, nothing on SF yet, lifes fucked up.

Word I kinda got bored of MVC3 due to the fact that nothing but, spamming and spamming.

I am back as well. I have been playing Mvc3, and though I like it I don’t like it as much as I like SSF4. I think I am gonna keep waiting for the SE to keep raising in price on eBay and then sell it to buy a bamboo tablet. If there is a gold or super version later on I might consider getting it if there are changes and fixes.
And honestly? Juri is where it’s at

Guile will spend some time crouching charging his kicks, he will be waiting for you like a vulture to jump to do a flash kick. You can crouch, too, and after a while stand up (don’t jump!) to make him think you jumped and make him do a flash kick on reaction.
Sometimes they will stop falling for that in which case I do an overhead if he is not far. After that they begin to crack. It’s always fun to see a Guile breaking down.
Try not go after a Guile; when the round starts throw some fireballs to inflict some damage, even chip damage, and then back the hell away! Make him come to you, keep throwing fireballs, use your anti-air options.

^ this. Too many times we go for broke and lose damage and advantage for it. Guile is annoying to get back in on… So. Don’t ever give up your advantage.

lol yea. sorry that i’ve been away for so long. i just recently bought a TE ( finally ) and mvc3 been eating up a big chunk of my fighting game time. but i’m definitely not gonna leave ssf4 in the dust or anything. i’m still here lurking and whatnot.

I’ve been away for some time too. Got a nice job been occupied with that. I don’t have time to fish for green connections anymore so I haven’t done online since… February. I’m not renewing live because my block has an issue with the underground wire. It’s absolutely horrible. Look at this ping test:

this is actually GOOD. It use to be dropping 94%. >.>

This was the last time I saw SSF4 online- no green connections most of the time. Bison obsly laughing at me in the pic ._.

and that’s wired too x.x Also pointing out those aren’t the yellow that sometimes play like green, they’re yellow that play like red, my red are like black, and my black I can’t even connect.

The Xbox guy was really nice when I canceled renewal. I was speaking on a phone wired to the computer and even then I was breaking up a lot so he knew I was being real (because I guess they are required to ask why you aren’t renewing) I told him what was up and if the problem got sorted or I moved I’d be back on. He offered me some special deals… too bad I can’t use them now.
Here’s to me saving up & moving the hell outta this place =/

so tl;dr I haven’t quit, just been busy and online is unplayable. I will see if I can get offline footage but I need to buy a splitter. Offline will be fun I can actually do j mp to ultra 2, lol.

Which ultra is better for Juri 1 or 2 or it’s depends on the character. I’ve gotten no where with second one but, sometimes works out fine against jumpie players.

I personally use ultra 1 for ALL matches.

Alright

I guess I should give some insight.

The theory that you shouldnt use Feng Shui Engine vs Blanka, Cammy, Honda, Bison, Hawk, Gief, Akuma is silly imo. They say “they have too many options to get away”, or “They’re reversals are really good”. The belief is that you shouldnt rush them down because you should fear their wake up/escape.

But isn’t that the point of the game? Take away options, make good reads, punish hard.

If you’re telling me I can use FSE vs Ken/Ryu but not Bison…thats just silly. I use FSE vs all as you should be able to get around their reversals/escapes

I see I gotten remember it also, I was watching your match with RoyalMist today and I saw you was applying a lot of pressure by using FSE and using overhead that was pretty sweet.

I got away with a lot of stuff because it was online (just a hint of lag, not much), and hes a charge character (who has to react quick enough to the overhead, or use their charge at the right time…if they fail they’re eating damage).

Overall, the match was a lot of fun. I wish I could find ways to keep someone locked down when in fse while doing overheads and afterwards not dropping the combo.

I agree man online is weak I wish I was in Land of rising sun with the connection is really well there. But, I hope they can recover from the damages with huge earthquake and 30 feet tall wave.

You know what’s fun is when Bison tries to escape with a psycho crusher and you block it, you can tag him with ultra 2 given correct timing for the auto correct.

For ultras I think it depends on playstyle. Ultra 2 is nice for punishing and countering some things but at high level of play I would say ultra 1 is best. It’s harder to use though because you can’t afford to screw up. I need to practice it in training since my Juri is pretty much done with online, never trusted my connection enough to use it… and whoever thought mashing out of stuff was a good idea can eat a dick. That combined with some mashed stuff (Ryu’s dp… Chun’s ex legs ect) that actually leads into ultras (another thing that pisses me off about this game… enough damn pity points to the person losing, jeez. We already have damage scaling) makes me feel this game is borderline not competitive. It’s not as bad offline though but it’s still there…

it’s still pretty competitive compared to other shitty modern fighters on the market though, I’ll give it that.

Shoutouts to Jaguar131 (did i get the numbers right? lol) for knocking me out of the tournament in FR =/
it sucks that the only other Juri in the tournament was in my pool AND was the one that knocked me out of the tourney =_=

either way, GGs man. Couldnt find you later on to see how you did. I’ll try to find you tomorrow to try to get some casuals in.

Im one for believing in U2 in this matchup, Blanka can mash electricity in an FSE overhead and gets out for free practically. Its not often i say U2 is the better option but theres kinda a few options that are nicely available with it.

Punishing U1 on startup to avoid chip, it cant be done point blank but just out of range of the overhead part of lightning ball will tag him. If you block it you can just do J.mp > U2 or Ex Dive > U2 (abit harder).

On reaction to Ex Hori balls, they just assume you cant ultra when storing a fireball, but obviously if you hold the buttons down every time you store full screen you still have the option to negative edge your input.

Then of course you have all the bread and butter setups which is nice damage to have.

I focus hard on corner pressure. It’s my goal and my strongest point. In these videos I commented at one time “oh damn just out of range in the corner… This is what I was working on before he message me”.

This was in p1 I think. This is the Kara store case I talked about. I saw him block everything and I wanted to stay in but my cmk was out of range after a store. Kara store would have worked.

I know I can punish ultra 1 that way I just was scared. Everytime I tried to punish it in the match I screwed up. Towards the end I just wanted to escape and not risk chip. Still got tagged.

I don’t use ultra 2 vs ex horizontal balls. Reason being is active while Kaisen is invincible and not active. If times really late they just go through it. My reactions to the blanka ball (because I gotta make sure it will travel full to reach) always make this case happen. My reactions are always last second. Lol.

As for lightning… It is a problem. But of you mix up your overheads and sweep combos makes your opponent anxious. If he mashes lightning he’s gonna eat damage unless I drop a combo. And throw when you usually overhead. In theory that should work, right?
