"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

A little help please, I have been training this combo:

-j.MP xx dive kick ( 1 hit) > land > Ultra 2 [421 Damage 100 Stun] corner only

While the topic says it’s a corner only combo, I managed to hit Ryu middle screen. More than once.
Then, when playing online it whiffed on Oni Akuma. Imagine my face of surprise at the time.
Point is, how characters specific is this ?

I’m trying to train the j.mp > land > j.ex dive kick > U2 combo. Does it work on everyone ? Any problems in it ?

Works on everyone. Some of the cast requires precise spacing and timing… Like thawk.

You mean the j.mp > land > j.ex dive kick > ultra 2 ?
Or the other combo ? j.mp > 1 hit dive kick > ultra 2 ? Away from the corner.

That combo isn’t corner only. Like kail said. spacing is needed but you can pretty much u2 off and ia dive kick.

Does anyone know any Frame trap with Juri and counter hit setups?

Well I have a thread full of counter set ups:.

There’s a lot of dumb stuff in there I don’t recommend doing but there’s also some gold counter set ups vs Balrog, Adon, Gen, T.Hawk and Guile mainly. I made those vids way before AE though so I’m not sure if they still work as well. I’ll have to test them out again.

And about frame traps, here are my favorite ones:

  1. (hold forward) cs.lk, cs.lk, s.lk, st.lk, far st.mp, cr.mk xx pinwheel

  2. cs.lk, cs.mp, L fuhajin store, far st.mk, far st.hk, ex fuhajin mid, release low, safe dive kick, EX pinwheel / kasatushi

  3. jf.hk, Sekku, instant dive kick / instant jf.hp

  4. Late dive kick, EX pinwheel

  5. cr.mk, L pinwheel, EX pinwheel

  6. jf.mp xx L dive kick, EX pinwheel / Ultra 2

st.cl.lk -> delay a bit -> st.cl.mp -> fireball kick -> cr.mk -> fireball release.
far mp -> cr.mk -> ex low fireball
st.far.lk -> cr.mk -> ex low fireball

I’m not sure where to post this. But a few things interested me.

When would using kasatushi on offense be appropriate? I use it when I’m using mixup off another kasatushi. I go outside of range of a throw with kasatushi in then use ex to float over. From here I can mix up. I’ve seen people doing sc hp xx kasatushi. When would this be appropriate?

I’m looking for setups for empty jump meaty c.lk. Deejay can do this off his sweep > hop knee, c.lk. Can’t be thrown. I need to learn times to use this.

I’m compiling a book of matchups. I need categories. And special notes. I’m gonna look through the what works on who and take from the fse topic. Any ideas?

Offensively, I love using kasatushi after an instant or delayed dive kick. Or in the corner, sometimes I use it after my LK pinwheel is blocked.

sc.hp xx kasatushi sounds good too. I admit I’ve never tried that one before… but sounds like it could catch people by surprise.

I started working on some matchup notes, but I left them unfinished. I’ll just leave the link here and you can tell me what you think. The most complete sections are C Viper and Ryu.

Doc Grammar, thanks for the starting block. Very interesting. Some interesting ways to document it.

When can I be command grabbed through scmk? Seth did spd and then jump in ex spd. I got grabbed through scmk. Ideas? Did my air frames run out?

sc.mk is airborne on frames 1-6 so it must’ve hit on frame 7 or later. Seth’s ex spd has invincibility so this is possible.

Another unfortunate exception is if you’re using FSE, since the startup is longer but the airborner frames aren’t. But yeah, I assume invincibility would be to blame in Kails scenario.

I’ve seen alot of you in action and it piques my interest
From my experience, you guys would do major damage in local tournaments

It would be awesome meeting up with fellow Juri mains plus we could take the place by storm and represent for the queen

I didn’t know who he was until I seen him pick Juri

I’m from long island. I enter as many as I can although it’s not enough. I went to ect recently. Got… 3 wins? I think.

Kail after speaking to you I’d say your a pretty chill guy(weird but cool) when I’m done with college I’m either moving to NY or Cali. Most likely NY, cause it’s closer, and if your still into street fighter by then and playing Juri lol we should def have some offline sessions without random lag bursts like last time.

All I really want is offline sessions, I have as many as I can take and it’s all just people in these dorms who honestly all suck. I want a good challenge offline so I can get some advice on how to up my game.

Right now putting kara’s into my game is what I’m trying to do or at least actually use throw which I’ve stepped away from. I can tech my ass off but when it comes to actually using throw I just suck at it. But that’s my biggest gripe with this game. Centering the game around throw. It’s such a powerful 3 frame move and I’m honestly afraid to death of it. Take a character like Rufus, Yun, (super)Cammy and I know I’m just gonna die. Actually Rufus is easier than the other two but still the whole idea of how throw is so good pisses me off. I hate that move more than anything in the game and don’t get me started on command grabs.

I do like the fact that Juri’s close mk, close hp brings her off the ground and ruins a command grabs and allows me a combo it’s great and all. It still just pisses me off that I have to find a way to stop command grabs or even grabs. Sorry guys I just needed a rant. I’m at a plateau in my game.

When you plateau you still should progress in things that you have control over.

You might not see direct results from it but it helps. Think about any of these.

General ideas. Any of these giving you problems? If so… Practice them. Work on them all. Heh. You can always sharpen your blade.

It’s mostly just inputting grab into my game. Period.

I’ll get back to Juri. Learning Guy and as soon as I understand him I’ll come here and give tips on him and his flaws and what Juri can do to combat it.
