it’s more like the counter has quite a bit of recovery, so if the opp simply keeps doing his combo, you’ll get tagged.
MP.Kasatsushi is mostly used for projectiles, LP.Kasatsushi or HP.kasatsushi is the one you want to use against close quarters stuff. i think at least…
I need to start going on Juri mirrors with you guys, because I feel like I’m falling behind. I can’t find a single Juri player online
Think of the counter move sort of like a Focus Attack. If you knew an opponent was going to throw out a certain move (not at the beginning of a combo necessarily), you might Focus to absorb the move. I use the Kasatushi very similarly, except it allows for more of a mixup or it allows you to distance yourself better, giving yourself breathing room.
Also, make sure not to get predictable with the counter. Much like Gouken’s counter move, it’s not without it’s flaws… too bad Gouken’s counter gives guaranteed damage though. I would use it sparingly.
I just realized something:
Juri’s worst matchups are mostly against the wack-tier characters from SFIV. Vega, Fei-Wrong, Fedor, Rose, El Fuego, etc. Is this how Capcom balances her? Mos tof her matchups against higher tiered people are brain-dead easy, but her matches against the swabbies are incredibad? I think Capcom largely did this with almost every character to try to level the playing field. No one should be negative against Fei. Nobody even used him in SFIV*!

As mentioned before, the counters are situational use. I find it best against shoto fireballs to close the gap, and to get out of corners. It shouldn’t be used in hopes to interrupt a combo. However, you may use the EX version on someone’s start of a combo, and direct yourself diagonally up towards them. This gives you crossup potential with j.HK.

Totally agree with her matchups. She has difficulty with characters you wouldn’t think. I agree with all the chars you ,emtioned. I’d also add chun in there. I know its not a horrible matchup, but I find that it proves difficult at times compare to others. (And why the heck does Fei have an infinite on us?!)
If been playing Juri for 2 days now. And I never had this much hate mail. People even kick me from ranked matches. Does anyone get more hate now that your playing Juri ?
The last 2 days my execution has really gone to shit. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong… maybe I’m just not retaining the BnBs in my muscle memory? Or maybe I just haven’t found practical ways to apply pressure?
I know it sounds noobish, but anyone have any tips to set me down the right path again? I tried just going into training mode and performing the BnBs but I just can’t seem to consistently get cr.lk, s.lp, c.mk or cr.lk, s.lk, cr.mp to come out with any sort of success. It also feels like I have to pinwheel long before I hit confirm the last hit, making me waste EX if I mess up.
I’m also having a lot of difficulty linking anything off of cr.lk, cr.lk, cr.lk or cr.lk, cr.lk
It’s like I’m just not in sync with the character the way I am when I play Chun Li.
Appreciate any advice you can give, no matter how small, to fix the problems. Thanks.
Assuming from what you’ve said that you’re normally a Chun player, perhaps your muscle memory from playing her is interfering with the different timings needed for Juri?
I dont really go for lengthy combos with Juri. I go to training mode and find the easiest but most effective bnbs. My favorite with Juri is either cr.mp --> HK Pinwheel or cr.mk --> hk pinwheel. either way you still get the knockdown.
I had an off night last night. Was using MK/HK pinwheels in blockstrings, wasn’t blocking properly, was doing random U2s. I didn’t know wtf was going on.
Pretty sure I’ve safe jumped a few times with j.MP, that’s one of the only things I use to jump in with. I think you might be able to safe jump in with j.HK as well.
As for option selects : You kinda get an option select with j.MP xx dive kick. If the j.MP is deep enough the dive kick won’t come out and it’ll come out as a pinwheel, then there’s of course the cr.mk from a distance xx pinwheel. She gets a few more of these types when in FSE mode with st.mk/HK etc. etc. that can’t normally be cancelled into specials.
