i really really tried to refrain myself from speaking on juicebox cause he seems like hes doing his own thing and trying hard to find his place, but here is it. you guys trying to defend him need to do some research. this dude shit on his own group of friends/community is his local scene which included a well known member of srk. he totally backstabbed this person and now that perception of him is being crossed over. he has not made any attempts to my knowledge to correct the wrong that was done and well, it is what it is. his character is also judged harshly due to his celebrations that sometimes dont lead to victory and also his needling of people. hell, i didnt even know the kid and he tried to mock me…
just saying, you dont get a second chance to make a first impression, and his mistakes from the SF scene somewhat show his character. he also complains about his character alot and how hes handicapped in matches vs xxx. instead of doing something about it and figuring out a solution he just wants to make an excuse for losing imo, and i think this loses him alot of respect amongst his peers. this is solely my opinion so dont judge the community from these comments, just trying to bring light as to why juicebox doesnt have alot of support from the scene.

I came out of nowhere and joined a group of 3S players I don’t know, and got kicked around until I started playing with a brain. After the first night everyone gave me some tips and guidance. No one was an actual outright dick to me. They just didn’t know me and weren’t interested in someone who was just going to jerk around on the machine and then never show up again. So everyone is cautious about investing their time and any guidance they have in someone who doesn’t care and is just going to disappear.
Once you show you care enough to keep playing despite losing and getting beat on, you pass that ‘test’. That you understand you suck, but you are going to stick around because you enjoy playing and want to become better at the game.
It’s a device every competitive community uses to weed out people who aren’t actually serious about the game. It’s only ‘hostility’ if you’re a real dandy and think you’re a special and beautiful flower and deserve better treatment.

The problem, as I see it, is that our community has gone out of their way to make people feel like they’re “a real dandy… a special and beautiful flower” before they even come out. When these guys do finally think about coming out, they expect the red carpet rolled out, and to be spoonfed everything, as if the established members in the community are paid coaches. If they don’t subscribe to this ridiculous model, they are now assholes, and the reason why the scene won’t grow.
Proving who has the proper credentials is more important.
In fact, that’s probably the central problem that the FGC has to deal with.
How you play doesn’t matter nearly so much as who you are.

This is the thing about “spectator sport”. It’s like TV, you need to be entertaining 1st.
This is why an 8 y/o gets sponsored but people who are way better than him while there’s nothing unique about them, don’t.

Edit: Alternative theory: Somebody saw the thread and the ‘this is great to see!’ post, thought it was just a kickass funny thing to say, and decided to try to get their humor on.
Someone mentioned a few pages back that upcoming MLG streams are going to happening on or near the same days as FGC streams.
Coincidence? Planned? I don’t know, but I wouldn’t put it past those in charge to do it on purpose in order to create more drama. Since drama gets people talking and taking sides.
On the topic of FGC turning corporate, with or without MLG, at the end of the day I’d rather see the Cannons in charge of the show as opposed to whoever runs MLG. If it’s going to go that way in the end I think it’d be better with them in charge as their roots are in the FGC and hopefully that will help mitigate the loss of the personality and creativity of the scene.
