Angeles whacked texas yesterday. The Dodgers, however, got smoked. Mixed emotions ftw xp
I think the most it can be is a 4 team tie in the National League. While the Braves, Marlins, Cubs, Giants, and Rockies could all finish with 74 losses the Cubs can at most get 87 wins. There’s gotta be a make-up game somewhere for them but if not they’d lose out due to having a lower winning percentage than the other teams.
I think that the Tigers need to sweep this doubleheader. They have their two best pitchers going today and have to face Carl “Tiger Killer” Pavano tomorrow. Nate Robertson starts on Thursday and he’s awful. Detroit needs these first 2 games.
Twins are only 1 game behind the Tigers. Time for Verlander to do what aces are supposed to do.
Well will you look at that. Josh Johnson is starting after all against the Braves. Vandenhurk was supposed to get the start but he’s been scratched. They face Ricky Nolasco tomorrow who hasn’t been great this year but can pitch a gem at anytime.
4-5 Tigers, top of the 8th, two outs. This is pretty exciting. Too bad I’m writing a paper and the game only gets about half of my attention.
Braves are 3 games back with 5 to play. The Rockies magic number to make the playoffs is 3. The Braves have to win all their remaining games and the Rockies have to lose 3 out of the next 5 just to tie. I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Tigers got one. The next 2 games make or break the Twins season. I think they have to enter the last series tied in the division.
The Cubs and Marlins were eliminated from postseason contention today. The Rockies have 89 wins and they both have 74 losses.
Red Sox clinch the AL Wild Card. They will face the Angels in the playoffs again.
That was just fucking amazing, even he couldn’t believe it.
Also, I regret telling my friend to draft Adam Lind, should’ve taken him myself, 3 HRs tonight vs. the BoSox.
regardless of what the sox won they’d face the angels either way…much to my dismay. I’m getting tired of this match up…then again I haven’t seen what has been going on this season so I’ll be optimistic that this year will be different for the Halos
The Red Sox have been better than the Angels each of those years. This season is no different. Boston has the superior team.
i hope smoltz wins tonight and makes the playoff roster
Carp, Waino, and a sharp smoltz = world championship #11 lets go
Boston can suck on these nuts. Go angels!!! :smokin:
playoff will sure be hype this year for me.
still won’t stop me from saying it
FUCK BOSTON! :arazz:
My stepdad seems to have that power…it’s like he can always see the count three pitches in advance, and he knows exactly what point in the count the hitter is going to see the best pitch and belt it. I always just assumed that he was quick learn the tendencies of hitters/pitchers, and that he would’ve made a great scout.
Still, to predict that scenario in a pre-game show is absolutely mind blowing. Perhaps the guy is trying leave us all subtle hints that he can travel in time, because that’s just bizarre.
Is there a reason the Dodgers can’t win a game and finally take the division? Do they not want to?
I thought it would be sealed up last night with Billingsley pitching, but of course, he doesn’t get the run support. This team has seriously got me worried for the playoffs, so inconsistent.
I really hope Atlanta somehow steals the wild card from Colorado. I think we match up a lot better against them than St. Louis or Philly (even though we would have to play one of the eventually).
Tonight more than ever the Twins need Carl " Tiger Killer" Pavano to come through with a great pitching performance.
In 5 starts against the Tigers he’s 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA and a .93 WHIP. In over 37 innings he’s allowed 1 walk.
M’s need a win to clinch a winning season. I need something to be happy about this week.
If you’d have told me in July of 2002 that 7 years later I’d be happy to just have a “winning season” with the M’s, I’d have slapped you in the face and called you a heretic.
I was so sure of a World Series win back then.
