Dodgers are ahead by 3.
The Rockies made up some ground in the past week. The Dodgers own them this season going I think 12-4 against them. If LA takes care of business when they meet again they’ll be okay.
Unfortunately it looks like the playoffs are basically set. The Giants are just about done. I guess the Rangers could catch the Red Sox but I don’t see it. The only compelling things to watch for is Pujols hitting 50 homeruns and Wainright winning 20 games.
So I caught FSN earlier and there was an interview of one of the guy who got from thw Pirates. He basically said they are a mess and even their pitching coach don’t know what the fuck is going on.
In more important news Ichiiiiiiro is 1 hit away from 9 straight season with 200 plus hits. That every single year he been in the majors.
Curious to what others in this thread think. Zack Greinke for AL Cy Young. Should win it? Travesty if he doesn’t? I was reading an article on it and I’d hate for him to not get it just because he plays for a shitty team.
My take for MVP on all sports is that the best player should win. Whoever had the best season is the winner regardless of his team accomplishment.
Fuck the fucking mariners fuck you white sox, fags
Nigga who iz you?
1st) You should be happy that you got to witness one of the greatest hitter of all fucking time Ichiro owning your ass in the bottom of the 14th. Okay be grateful.
And who the fuck are you calling a *** you fucking faggot.
I love Ichiro, glad I got to see him in person so many times, but unless the M’s can turn shit around soon, he needs to go somewhere where he can get himself a ring.
Honestly, I’d root for the fucking YANKEES if Ichiro were a one year pinstriper…ohh wait no I wouldn’t Gay Rod is still with them.
If only the Giants had won the game yesterday. 3.5 GB is too much for only 16 games left considering how easy the Rockies’ last few series are. On the other hand, Giants are going to LA tomorrow where their chances of winning aren’t too good.
let me guess, you hate the…Lakers and Gaybe Gayant? Or maybe the Cavs and Gaybron Gaymes? Kevin Gaynett and the Celtics? You got one of these in every sport, it seems.
Fucking hate these casual fans talking shit. stfu. like they actually follow anything, just here to randomly talk shit like they know wtf they talking about.
“Oh my team won, blah blah, i dont know shit about how they won or overall how my team is doing but my team beat yours, weeee we win!!!”
Fuck you.
I think Nori negged me when I said I thought it was ridiculous he didn’t know what a cycle was, you know, being the lifelong Yankees fan he was. He said “People like you are why people don’t post on SRK.”
The more I read it over the more it warms my heart. Really, there’s no higher praise you can give someone on this board.
Baseball season thus far has been really lacking in terms of interesting stories to watch for in the second half…standings have essentially been in place since a quarter of the season through.
Interesting note - by most fielding metrics, Aaron Hill is actually a pretty crappy second baseman, defensively. Which goes against everything I see in games…the homer in me really makes me question exactly how accurate UZR and all that stuff is.
None of those NBA people get a “Gay” name, because they were never favorite players of mine who skipped town for whatever reason.
Cutler is to me what Alex Rodriguez was a few years back, when the sting of the Texas deal was still fresh and I was 13 years old and didn’t understand shit like money. I relished in his failures for several years and then it got old.
I think he should win it but I don’t think he’s a lock for the award. Since May he’s been a great pitcher but not legendary like he was in April. Other aces have stepped up and played very well. I could see guys like Justin Verlander, Felix Hernandez, and C.C. Sabathia stealing votes from him but ultimately I think he should and will win the Cy Young. If one of those other guys were to win the award I wouldn’t consider it a huge slight.
Did you see the Mariners winning at least 76 games this season? I didn’t. They still have a lot of work to do but they’re moving in the right direction building the team around pitching and defense for their home field.
Ichiro is and can still be a contributor to a team’s success. If an offer that blows the Mariners away comes by they have to listen but until that happens Ichiro’s still getting the job done.
Well, I didn’t really see the M’s getting withing a hair of 90 wins in 2007 either, so no.
Ichiro is a machine, and I’ve heard guys say in interviews that he could very well be playing 'till he’s 45 or older. His production hasn’t slowed at all, but I’m just terrified that one of the best hitters to ever live isn’t going to get any recognition due to a lack of a title. Shit, he’s only gotten to play in two postseason series EVER, both in the ill-fated 2001 season.
Bill Bavasi deserves to burn in hell for what he did with this franchise. :bluu:
ICHIROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :rock::rock::rock:
Ichiro a hitting machine. He hits more home run in batting practice than anyone I’ve ever seen. That include Griffery, Arod, all of them. That why if you ever go to a Mariners game, go a little early and just watch Ichiro in BA, it will amaze you.
As for tonight game. 2 nights in a fucking row BAYBEE!
My favorite Ichiro moment came back at an Interleague game in 2004. I went with my family to see the M’s face the Astro’s, who were sending Roger Clemens to the mound that afternoon. Seeing Clemens up close and personal while he warmed up in the bullpen was fucking nuts. I was 16 years old and this was Pre-Steroids scandal, and it was fucking awesome.
Anyways, we’re late in the game, something like the 6th inning or so. Ichiro comes up to face Clemens, and they end up having this fucking BATTLE. Like, 15 pitches or something. If you’ve seen Ichiro hit a lot (and I know you Seattle guys have), you know that the deeper this crazy fucker goes in the count, the more likely he’s gonna pull out that clutch hit. Finally after what feels like an eternity, he rips a single out to right field, and collects another one of his record 262 hits that season off of one of the finest pitchers to ever play. Awesome moment.
That game was happening during the 2004 NBA Finals, too. I walked down to that little sports bar near the bullpens (frequent Safeco visitors know what I’m talking about), hoping to maybe see the final score of the game. I’m walking by the Astro’s bullpen, and Brandon Duckworth and Octavio Dotel approach the mesh and Duckworth shouts “Hey kid, come here!”
At this point I’m fucking ecstatic, because a major league pitcher is talking to me. Dude tells me that he and Dotel want to find out the score of the game too, so they send me over to the bar to figure it out. Right as I get there, I see Kobe nail the game winner of the only game they seemed to win in that Finals Series, so I go back and tell them. Dotel seemed happy, and Duckworth was pissed. Duckworth was a pretty cool guy–I told him that I wasn’t even aware that he’d left Philly, and he told me in not so many words that the fans gave him a lot of shit there.
Dotel ended up being traded like THE NEXT DAY, it was weird.
pavano/verlander today
whoever wins should win the AL Cy young this year
