MK’s fanbase is pretty big when you take the South American and European MK communites into account.
So should we all just be spamming Wiz right now? Or do we set up a poll or something?
There is a shoulder button for throw or you can hit 1+3. If the X-Ray input doesn’t change you still need the throw button even if you do them with 1+3.
I’m pretty sure they said the X-rays will get traditional character-specific commands rather than the universal shortcut they’ve been using in the preview builds. I really hope this game is playable with only 5 buttons.
It’s 6 buttons, isn’t it? 1,2,3,4, block, and tag is what i thought, but I could be totally wrong.
I believe this is correct.
its FP, RP, Block, FK, RK. Tag is probably a 6th button.
Well, we do have that TE stick. The button where “Run” was for UMK3 is confirmed to be the designated “Tag” button, now. Everything else is the same 5-button setup from before.
Don’t most people use the (TZ) Tekken notations for MK, though? Or does it just depend on the person?
Everybody used to use Tekken notations because the last gen games did. But it seems like they’re moving away from that now.
Hmm… 1,2,3,4 is so much easier to type than FP, RP, FK, RK, though. Tekken has LP, RP, LK, RK, but we still use numbers because it’s easier.
Are we going to come up with a universal way of notating things like Super/EX versions of specials, too? Is there even a definitive community/forum for MK, the way TZ is for Tekken?
I dont do the #'s. I do Run,HP,LP,BLK,HK,LK lol
Fair enough.
I guess I can adapt. TZ Tekken is just my native FG language, I guess
So there is no universal notations system for MK at the moment? And no central/definitive MK forum or community to dictate such?
MK sort of uses a mishmash of other types of notations.
I don’t know what the 3D game communities used, but if you look at something like the UMK guides, the combos would be like this example:
jump punch starter, HP, HP, B+LP, aaHP, JK, airfireball
Combos in the old 2D games don’t tend to be extremely long until you get into some really complex ones or infinites, and even then they’re repeating.
I don’t like the number notations because they’re only relative to the 1P side. F. always means forward, regardless of position. 6 means forward, but only as it relates to the 1P.
Oh, I was talking about numbers for limbs, not directions. I don’t like numbers for directions, either (though I do understand them, and use them for BB).
It seems like there should be a universal notations system established. But I guess one might come around naturally post-release.
lol, then clearly I have no idea how Tekken notations work.
I think the standard SF style sort of just work for the most part for MK, with a few tweaks (block, aahp, run in umk, etc.)
Oh, with Tekken it’s b, d, f, u, d/b, d/f, etc. And then 1 = LP, 2 = RP, 3 = LK, 4 = RK
Then there’s the standard , and + and such. But you also have : for JFs, < for delays, () to show something that misses, * for holding something, and so on. And then there’s all the acronyms, like CC for Crouch-Cancel, BD for backdash, and so on.
Personally, I’d like to use a simplified version of that for MK, with something like [b,b+1] to show the Super/EX version. BD and FD for dashes, and BLK for block, obviously.
For the 3D MK’s, the notations were numbered like Tekken. Gotta remember, that a majority of the online 3D MK players were Tekken players as well.
I like the FP, RP, FK, RK etc notation.
