Fujin would be cool. He’s the only MK4 character that I liked. Horribly underutilized for a character of his position.
Kethcup and Mustard? Sweet! Could give a shit about Fujin when there’s Rain to be had. Complete the UMK3 roster and then move on to the 3D characters if you really must.

I’m also worried about future games. The hardest thing for the Mortal Kombat franchise to do IMO is the removal and inclusion of characters for the roster. I can’t even imagine a MK game without ALL the characters in this current game except Cyber Sub and it’s pretty much written in stone we won’t see a MK game without Scorp, Sub, Raiden, Tsung, Sonya, Jax, Kabal, Noob, Mileena, Kitana, Ketchup and Mustard

Do you seriously think they’ll keep them dead? This is MK. Most of those people will be coming back. Maybe if story mode returns, there will be an arc about just how we got them back. But they’re returning regardless.
It would be really lame on NRS’s fault if they removed characters for sake of story, imo. This is still a fighting game first and foremost. I’m all for adding characters, but removing them to appease the people who play fighting games for stroy seems like a dick move.

I hear that, but isn’t that how characters appear and disappear in fighting games anyway? Either way, characters will get removed. I think it’s just way harder for MK to do. mainly because of story, fanbase and the way it would “feel”.
Really? People think there would ever be an MK without Sub Zero because of the story developments? Even though that story was itself a retcon of other story developments? I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over that guys. They’ll be back. Nether Realm aren’t stupid, they know there’d be hell to pay.
PS, am I the only one who thought the story mode was terrible? It was the same shit with MK vs DC where people walk into random rooms and have random encounters. ‘Herp derp, a new room. Oh look here’s Sub Zero for no reason. Let’s fight!’. And yet, everyone raves about it? Not as bad as Sub Zero just walking into the bat cave, but still…
Killing off a bunch of characters might’ve been interesting if it wasn’t so random. ‘Humpty dum, oh here’s Sindel for no reason. Oh we’re all dead. Ho hum’. I probably would be kinder to it if the hype hadn’t got my hopes up for more than the standard fare.

It’s happened before in MK. Liu Kang not being in Deadly Alliance because he was killed off in the intro. Or Raiden not being playable in MK3 due to the realm merger weakening his powers. as explained in that game’s intro.
True, but they’re not going to cut off a good half of the cast from this game for story.
Even if they were going to let the canon effect the next game that severely. They’re still around, they’re just Quan Chi’s bros right now.
