im on xbox. what i did for online was make a room called california and got much better games. don’t pay attention to the 4 bar connection thing. it doesn’t work. i’ve had good games with 1 bar connections and lots of horrible ones with 4 bar. also when i played my friend who i play in mvc3 it worked perfectly. he lives in nj. i’ve only played 1v1, but plan to try 2v2 and koth in the future. i think the netcode is probably the same as mvc3 but the match making in mk9 is terrible. so you end up playing people u lag to.
i dislike the strict timing on combos. to beat shao khan i did lots of bicycle kicks and fire bicycle kicks. i didn’t try the uppercut thing. on the final boss i put it on beginner cause i got my ass kicked on default.
I know right. I’m glad they will be releasing patches. I’m quite surprised the MK community seems (relatively) open to patching as well. It’s a much different attitude than the SF and MvC community :lol:
Lol I never use that POS move. I scarecly use freeze ray because that shit is stupidly slow too. I abuse slide and freeze clone. I love to set a freeze clone then EX slide so I push them into the clone. Looks mad cool.
Sub Zero is lacking I feel in this game. He isn’t terrible or bad for that matter but definately not as strong as a lot of other characters I use or have tried out. I am going to stick with him though because he is such a badass.
I think Sub-Zero is high tier…not top, but high. His damage output is excellent, along with decent field control and a set of really strong normals. f+BK is a stupid good overhead, and the fact that he can hitconfirm it into Iceball is just ridiculous.
Spin is more punishable than it looks, most characters can dash up and punish it on reaction. Good move but not broken. Teleport is fast but his attacks out of it are not. Divekick is very punishable on block.
Imo he’s a real good char with lots of options but not the best.
And besides, this game is being changed too fast to talk about who’s the best or worst. Gotta wait for the patching to settle down first before we can really start to figure that out.
I suppose you are right. I haven’t put extensive time into Sub Zero because I have been having so much fun with Kung Lao and his juggles and corner pressure. Gonna have to polish up my ice game sometime soon.
Also why isn’t anyone talking about Jackson Briggs? That dash punch is absolutely ridiculous is it even punishable on block? If not it he can get in at will and mixing it up with his regular grab command grab and what not his mix up games seems solid. Does he have any decent safe block strings? His projectile is pretty fast plus he has a ground pound (although slow) covers all ranges. he basically can control the entire screen I feel. Granted I only got done playing with him in story mode and im not eluding that he is absolutely godlike in this game. But he seems to have some great tools to use and I only here people talking about Liu, Kung, Smoke, Ermac, and Cyrax ATM.
So, this game has a kombat kode (111-111) thats called Tournament mode.
any one know what it all does? only thing Ive noticed is First hit doesn’t give meter.
On other matters here, I think Sub-Zero’s standard ice ball is okay and his ground ice is ass. But the EX versions of both are considerably better, which to me makes Subby kind of an EX whore.
And on top tiers and the lot, it always happens and you usually see strong candidates at the beginning, speculation in that regard can be fun and lively. But I agree to not go into really serious tiers until all the patching and phantom patching is finalized, to many things reported as changed or working different to really stamp out anything yet.
i’m convinced kung lao is about to get hit hard with a nerfbat because of his damage. hopefully they leave his frame data alone so people don’t lose work like what happened with cyrax
edit: and we aren’t going to get character specific forums here unless people start posting way more. right now it just doesnt seem warranted. Also, TYM has character forums, and i wouldn’t be surprised if they have a gentlemens agreement with SRK not to make competing forums here. its not unusual either, we have a section for guilty gear blazblue whatever, but dustloop is apparently the main digs, tekken has a main site somewhere else too.
