ehhhhh I don’t know if he hits that hard. In the corner sure but thats the corner, a lot of characters can get crazy amounts of damage over there. His midscreens do about 30% and without Xray his corners (which aren’t the easiest things in the world if you go for JKxxDivekick (x2 or 3) do roughly around 50%. That isn’t a crazy amount for a corner combo.
oh, i thought i saw some combo vids with kung lao doing +80%? but maybe i imagined that
he has a 70% Xray corner combo but the requirements for it are not all that practical. First of all Kung Lao has to START in the corner with the opponent right next to him then he has to teleport and use his FK which is REALLY slow and should be used mostly for punishing… then you procede into your combo where you have to land 2 JKxxDive Kick cancels which I still can’t do consistently.
Basically I rarely ever see that situation occuring where you go for that corner combo and the beginning is too hard to connect against good human players and most will actually punish it before anything gets going.
His more practical corners do around 60% but that is with XRay and I feel a decent amount of character probably have an Xray corner combo that can do 50-60%. Kung Lao just happens to have a video of one out for everyone to see.

looks like i imagined it
he needs too much bar for this to really work
She didn’t always dress as slutty. Mileena wore far less in Deception. I guess it’s just the general stereotype of evil, uglier bitch being the sluttier one.
so what do you guys think of the execution barrier in this game?
i think its a little lower than marvel. ive been picking up standard 9-10 hit bnbs in about 20-30 minutes in training mode with a character.
the hardest thing ive encountered so far is smoke’s smoke ball juggles
not necessarily a bad thing tho. what do you guys think?
Not as easy as MvC3, but certainly not difficult, I can do like 40% combos without breaking much of a sweat. I think once people get used to extreme negative edge it won’t be all that hard to figure your character out.
The NE in this game is crazy. Still getting used to it. Finally figured out I can do Stryker’s FP, FP :f:, and then it will combo into his Gunshot. Weird stuff.
Well there’s no motions a la SF… you just hit directions.
But there’s also no easy ABC, 123 combos either so there’s figuring out more individualised BnBs.
It’s not SF4 ‘ineed1framelinks’ or Marvel ‘icanpushbuttons’. The huge input buffer/negative edge makes some things easy and some things annoying. All to get used to really. The juggle system reminds me of a Tekken lite though, strangely.
EDIT: Why is the hitbox on the mexican uppercut so bad in this game compared to UMK3? Or am I just terribad?
You’re not terribad. It’s very toned down. Only a few characters actually have a really solid uppercut.
And the combos are definitely not difficult, but like azproc said, it feels way more individualized as far as combos go.
I guess that hitboxes are not based on the character model, as suggested by the “collision region” in Training mode.
NOTE: At the same range, this attack does not hit a standing Kung Lao.
So can you seriously not record an action for a training mode dummy and play it back, or am I just overlooking something here?
It actually just BARELY nicks him.
Speaking of Liu Kang, this fucker has wall carry like no other. b312 x3 from starting point in Dead Pool sends the opponent ALL the way to the goddamn wall. Which is where he can just abuse the fuck outta you. Stand block and you eat the easiest 40% combo in existance lmao. Crouch block and you eat a safe overhead all day lmao.
@Frag, unfortunately, yeah, that’s the case.
Maybe it looks that way because the video is a little grainy, but I promise you that it doesn’t touch him.
EDIT: Here is a picture from when the attack “hits” Kung Lao.

According to the the “Collision Region,” that attack’s hitbox doesn’t go past Liu’s knuckles.
There are more to fighting games than just combo execution. In games where the combos are more simplified is when it is more about the mix up execution and what not. I don’t understand it when people judge how easy or hard a game is just by the combo execution.
So why didn’t people play mk vs. dc? I looked up some gameplay and it looks almost identical except on a 3d plane.
cause mk is a 2d game
Amen!
Retort 1: why?
Retort 2: Why? Do explain
Blargh, it sucks PSN is still down. I’ve been training with Stryker and wanted to see if my hard work is paying off.
So restless I’ve been unlocking alt costumes.
