You’re seeing the results of negative edge. The second shadow kick is registering the release of the circle button from the previous input. You can just hold circle until you input the second shadow kick, then release the circle.
The story mode was fantastic. I never play arcade mode in fighters unless there is something to unlock, and even then I just mash to skip the endings. I liked how they explained a lot of the characters’ origins and seamlessly transitioned into fights.

Just a few more cage combos… game feels pretty limited… at least to me right now… doesnt seem to be a lot of cool stuff you can do.
Limited? Have any of the old MK games been crazy loaded with extensive 50 hit combos that take 20 seconds?

Sheeva is seriously Zangief with a fireball, teleport, and full screen ground pounds. Even if she’s bottom tier, she’ll be scary.
Can’t you block her command throws? I don’t think shes bad at all from the lil I played of her
Smoke is fun, right now he’s at the top of my non robot list. Too many fun characters atm though. Seems like I’m liking everyone other than… idk… human sub and kano.

Cyrax is freaking awesome. I’ve been working on his unblockable bomb trap after his command throw and it kills fuckers. The only issue is I’m having problems combo’ing after the bomb. nj.FP doesn’t cause a ground bounce, and I can’t seem to time his d/f+FK into throw either. I’m left doing an uppercut only. But even that, it’s at least 50% damage with everything combined.

The use of Sheeva’s moves are really limited, as I see it. i find using jump teleport is really only safe when you want to punish the opponent as they are recovering after casting a projectile (I don’t know the term, haha). Her AA grab feels fast, but I can’t really utilise the other special grabs in-play. Same goes with Stomp; I can’t find the right moment to pull it off successfully without getting punished or having the opponent jump to avoid. And her fireball comes out really slow.
I’d really like to play her better though, she’s an all-time favourite, haha. Back to training I guess.
I was playing around with her today, especially her crouch command throw, 3 hit juggle into her anti-air grab. I cried tears of joy.
Anyone else notice some changes in the game today? I wonder if they put an unannounced patch through.
On Tuesday, I found some sick awesome traps for Cyrax using meaty bombs. I tried them again Wednesday and they worked great. When I tried them today, they didn’t work anymore. Specifically, the issue is that the ex bomb no longer launches as high as it used to when done in a combo after a few hits or after a net. The amount of time that the opponent is caught in the net may also decrease when the net is done in a combo after a few hits.
This is probably for the best, since now it’s harder to set up inescapable meaty bomb traps that used to allow Cyrax to kill the opponent if he landed one hit and had 2 meters. But I’d really like to get some confirmation that they did indeed patch the game.
Thanks Bronzefist, those couple of nice lil combos helped me with Sheeva. The cancel window seems tight, I’ve been having more success with the fireball rather than the b,f 3 grab like you said. Her anti-air grab is easy as hell to land after that string but it only does 25%. f,4 is fucking awesome, the range on it is insane and you can end strings with it. Not normally the best idea because it usually sends them flying full-screen, but if it pushes them into the corner it can be worth it. Sagat would be proud.
I haven’t even tried all the cast yet, and I’m struggling to find a shortlist. I like: Sektor, Jade, Kung Lao, Sub Zero, Kitana. I can’t play them all seriously. Leaning towards Sektor as main and Jade as an alt, her combo potential is too good. Kung Lao and Subs are so fun to play as, though. fp,fp,bp spin is too fun. Thought if I get teleport instead of spin one more time I’m gonna scream.
Can you mash out of any “stun” specials? (Cyrax Net, Sub-zero Ice ball, etc)
They seem like they last forever, I was getting frozen by non-EX ice balls full screen and the guy was able to do about 5 dashes to get close to me and do a full combo, even when I traded projectiles with him and he had hitstun for a moment.
No way to mash out of moves other than using a combo breaker
I’m on PS3, which has been down for the past few days, so I wouldn’t know if a patch is out.
But I’ve taken a liking to Cyrax, and I was able to get a few games online with him before the crash and wrecked face with the command throw into unblockable bomb traps. So i look forward to seeing more tech from him. i haven’t played around with ex-bomb much, so i’ll have to give that a try.
