Same thing here, cept with me, but just when searching for an opponent, AND its a PAIN IN THE ASS finding a player match
ya online is total garbage and a waste of time to even try to play it.
its very disappointing but still happy I didn’t spend $$ on this and I almost got the TE bundle too lol
My first post had to be to this forum. I’ve waited months for this game as someone with fond memories of MK. I’m not a fight game guru but ive always enjoyed them, but even here it’s plain to see the game is just plain busted online. IMO online is at least as important as single player; so that’s 50% of the game experience ruined.
What i really want to say is that it’s not just an issue of netcode, which is clearly a load of balls. It’s the structure around it as well: there’s no search filters, no hosting options, just the choice to search, create a lobby or…give up?
As someone from the UK I need to limit my search to local, as I can in SSF4 which works just fine for me. I can choose from a list of opponents, look at their location and see an accurate enough representation of the ping. Here…nope, i have to wait three hours, hope it finds someone before it crashes or locks up (or just sits searching and i can’t back out).
KoH is clearly unplayable, even locally on the average internet connection and again no options. You can’t limit room size, you can’t kick people and the whole thing is massively unstable.
The lobby system is bonkers; what’s the point of it? Even if you join a lobby saying ‘UK ONLY’ people can still join from wherever (and they do). Even then if you invite the people within to a KoH match anyone from outside can join through the Player MAtch -> KoH search as it puts you into a random match. What’s the point? Just have lobbies like ssf4 - or at least as an alternative to the lagfest that is KoH.
There is a huge disconnect between what was advertised and what was delivered that either NRS are covering their backsides and lying, or they are just totally inept at developing the online. Either way I agree with the above comment about not expecting a patch anytime soon. I suspect they are keeping their heads down to maximise sales, and once they are past their peak they might get around to looking at the problem - then it has to go through verification (on the 360 at least), with all the patch size limits. This isn’t going to be fixed through anything othe than a complete refit of the online component.
So far we’ve had zero feedback as well: how much effort is it to send a detailed explanation of: what went wrong, why, how it’s going to be fixed, when we think that will be. They can play with twitter and facebook. They can even expect people to post on their forums over Easter, but they can’t do the same? Come on guys!
I think, and I hope I’m wrong, we may be expecting miracles to see this fixed anytime soon, if at all. The question is, how long are you prepared to wait.
Any fighting game just needs balanced gameplay and a training mode.
Online, who cares?
Arcade mode, who cares?
Casuals, that’s who
And they don’t pay the same money?
The game advertised a working online and that’s what they should provide.
Whether or not individual players choose to use that mode is irrelevant.
Had a pretty good outing on ranked tonight. Played about 10 matches, experienced 1 disconnect pre-match, and nearly no lag. I am the special effects!
You’re getting trolled.
Anyone saying online, if done well, isn’t useful is clearly smoking some ignorance.
Not everyone has a scene near them. And not everyone at the scene will play every character that you’ll encounter at a tournament out of your local area.
The casuals will care more about Single Player features, agreed. Online, both casuals and tournament players can put to good use if done correctly. It was not done in this game, as good as it can be offline in its current state.
I’m more annoyed by the develper’s lack of communication, I think, than anything. No news is definitely not good news.
This always seems to be the case with games.
I suppose WB are only concerned with the sales figures, which if the reviews are anything to go by, will be pretty positive. Problems and fixing them come a distant second.
We were told (like 2 days after the game came out) that the devs know people don’t like the netcode. That sounds like communication to me. You just aren’t looking.
link?
everyone keeps claiming the devs have made comments about the netcode and said they are working to fix it, but no one has yet to provide a link to them stating that.
I don’t have the link. It’s somewhere on the TYM forums. Tom Brady made the post about it.
Riiiiiiiiiight. So we go from fact to rumour posted by someone that didn’t develop the game on an independent forum in two posts. That must be some kind of record.
The game has an official website, not once have they posted. Frankly I’m getting really tired of this. The server doesn’t work properly, it’s up and down more times than a rollercoaster. This game shouldn’t have seen release in this state. How much longer till they bother to favour us with a reply - and a substantial one at that?
My god, it’s 2011 and video gaming is worse than it ever has been.
Test Your Might - BRADYCAST: Mortal Kombat 9 Online
Frankly I disagree: either you make the online work, as advertised, in the product you are selling. Or you refund our money. Either is good. What you don’t do is make excuses for poor work. We were promised a product that included a robust online. We haven’t gotten that. It’s up to NRS to rectify that. If they can’t, well that’s what refunds are for. Thanks for playing.
Not elitist douchebags, apparently.
Tom Brady isn’t some random guy.
Which is exactly why this video is so whiny. If some of your friends worked their asses off producing something, and then thousands of people starting bitching that it wasn’t good enough, you’d want to defend them too.
I’d want to defend them but if thousands of people are complaining about something, then there is at least some merit to the complaints.
This game is WORTHLESS without online play. A lot of us are adults with a job/family and don’t have the time or energy to trek over to someone’s house in order to play a damn game. I want to get off of work, sit on my comfy couch, and bash some heads in. Is that too much to ask?
And fuck that guy who says to blame myself for this laggy shit.
I have no idea who he is. I’ve heard the name, that’s it.
However the bottom line is that NRS has a responsibility to fix the game, but right now even communicating to their customers what’s going on seems beyond them. That tells me that the game ain’t going to be fixed anytime soon. I don’t that’s good enough.
I can understand he wanting to defend people, but the bottom line is that NRS is at fault. Thousands of people haven’t started ‘bitching’ they paid money for a product in good faith believing it would work as advertised. It doesn’t. Big difference. So he’s off the mark if that’s his attitude.
I completely agree.
i can’t watch that video since i’m at work, but from the responses here it sounds like he is saying that nothing is going to be done about online play, and those that want to play vs should go to a friends house?
look, if ed boon didn’t tell us how they “perfected” the netcode and how great it was going to be, i probably wouldn’t be as annoyed by this. but the fact they told us how amazing the netcode was, and how they showed of KOTH mode as if it really fucking works, like it is the best online feature … that is what pisses me off.
as others above said i dont have time to go play this game versus other people very often if at all. and the fact that TONS of people are complaining about this means it isn’t just 1 person.
can someone sum up the video?
