If you don’t understand how an actual router works then you will never know how wrong you are.
I don’t see how anyone can say they have playable matches. Maybe it’s playable by a 5 year olds standards but I find it unplayable. Sure I’ve had plenty of smooth connections, no spikes or hiccups. That’s great and all but it seems to be the only thing that people consider to be lag. The input lag is the problem, in the best of connections you get something along the lines of 10 frames of input lag. I played other players in NY as well as a friend that lives around the corner, walking distance and experience a ton of input lag. The game runs smooth but whats the point if nothing is responsive? All of you players are getting this lag, I don’t care what you say, deny it all you want, you just don’t care because it fits your playstyle I guess.
Before any of the “it’s your connection” bullshit, I’ve tried on multiple cable and fiber optic connections, hard wired and wireless before I came to a final conclusion on the netplay. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of SSF4 netcode, as long as I have green bars (most of the time) it’s very playable imo, at least more so than MK or Marvel 3. Input lag is at a minimum especially when playing other people in NY. GGPO, HDR and MVC2 are another story and I wish all games ran like that but they don’t.
I thought Marvel 3 was bad but this is even worse. I really didn’t expect that considering how much they talked about the netplay pre release. I just hope they really do fix it correctly since there is a large majority of players out there who think the game runs well in it’s current state when they don’t get lag spikes.
Not sure if your trolling, or just really stupid.
could you link to where nether realm studios acknowledged this and claims to be working on it?
The online isnt bad on off peak hours, been playing for a good two hours today with not much lag. Also its amusing, of the number of people who rage quit, or quit on me when they beat me once.
The problem isn’t that, because these same people have not had these kinds of problems with other games, regardless of how their connection to their modem is set up.
You just don’t understand that there is a such thing as a bad netcode.
My main issue with the online experience is that it takes me anywhere from five to ten minutes to find an opponent for a ranked online match.
My only issue has been getting the “Game Desynchronized” message after I hit both punch buttons in a combo followed quickly by block. It happens almost every time.
Yeah, this is really annoying. I don’t know if it’s the way the game searches, or if it’s the servers taking forever to respond, but it’s a pain in the ass either way.
If there’s nothing wrong with Mortal Kombat’s netcode then there’s nothing wrong with any game’s netcode, because I’m pretty sure it’s MK is still on the bottom in comparisons.
Played a guy a few states away and it was barely playable.
Played a dude in Europe and it was one of the smoothest sets of matches I’ve had so far.
I had a similar experience today. Played some dude from somewhere nearby me in the northern states and it was horrible, and then played some guy from Europe and it was smoooooooth.
I get smooth games all day but it still sucks cause there’s like 10 frames of input lag.
played about 20 games today on xblive, can only think of two that were really unplayable… the rest were actually pretty damn good, it still feels like theres some input lag but thats to be expected
it’s shame because offline this game feels so crisp and precise!
prior to this, my online experience had been really… really bad, so heres to hoping it gets a bit better
Yeah. Like I said before, it has to be built in to the netcode. When I play 4-bar connections I have the same input lag as when I play 2-bar connections. It really sucks for timing purposes (and blocking).
I’ve been running into another issue with MK9 on XBOX Live. Twice now my system has simply frozen while on Live. Once was while scrolling through rooms, another time was while I was spectating a KoTH.
I mean totally frozen, I couldn’t even dashboard out. Had to manually turn off the XBOX. In my memory this has not happened with any other game I’ve played heavily in the last year or so (Black Ops, SSF4, MVC3).
I even waited a few minutes each time. Nothing.
Not just blocking but the lag makes the game pretty unplayable altogether. The game just turns into a random mess of jumping around, inputting combos while flying through the air and hoping the first hit lands so you actually attempt to finish it with a juggle. Teleports, grabs, lows, overheads and fast moves get a huge boost when online. It’s pretty unplayable altogether. Randomness wins. Confirming anything is out the window so really any type of competent play doesn’t really work well compared to just randomly doing shit when you play online.
I really hope they reduce the input lag considering they specifically said you wouldnt have to change your timing when playing online. That statement is so far from accurate. Why would they even say that if they had some sort of built in input lag? That just doesn’t make sense to me.
this has happened to me twice as well. froze mid match once and while in the menus scrolling the rooms.
well to be fair, you don’t have to change the timing of your “dial-a-combos” … you can mash those as fast as you like and the hits will all still come out. i tested this out quite a bit tonight. you can even buffer some specials after these combos and they will come out. i verified this with scorpion tonight mashing his 1,1,1 combo then buffered spear, and it came out after the last hit of the combo, although it doesn’t even combo (whichi already knew, but it is helpful when juggling)
oh and all that said, was playing online tonight and it still is virtually unplayable, even on “4 bar” connections. sure i had some decent matches, but it was total ass compared to playing it offline or compared to ssf4 online. i really doubt they are going to fix anything. people in this thread have claimed NR is working on it but i have yet to see a link about this.
I’d agree if they didn’t have that online pass system in place. You’d think that BS would at least light a fire under their asses to make online better.
