Which is fine, because the game is set up to let me find people locally. So it isn’t a problem. No fighting game is going to let peopel fight coinsistently across the world. This is where MK fails the most; it has no search options at all. The player has no say. My biggest concern is that NRS doesn’t get this.
Fixing the online has nothing to do with petrol, cars, driving or finding local players.

The creeping realisation this game is just unplayable online is something i really have been trying to put off. Noone wants to believe a beloved game sucks the big one, but this…does, and it’s really spoiled my enjoyment to the point I’m not sure I want to keep waiting for any kind of fix. I’ll try any fix or patch they offer, but so far it’s a dead loss. Is it worth waiting? I don’t know anymore.

That is not what we’re saying at all. What we’re saying is we’d like to get some decent games in online and not be forced to travel to enjoy the game with some other players. I live in a farm town 4 hours outside of any city, so traveling to a tourney really isn’t something that I can just go and do. So if I want to play the game against someone for some decent competition I have to play online and if the online doesn’t work, I can’t play it. You are the mecca of ignorant
And yet there are plenty of people online actually playing the game. Are the ‘serious’ players in a minority? Serious in the sense of knowing what works and what doesnt and how it should play? I guess so!

I still play online but as Liu Kang I can rarely hit his BnB unless I start it in the corner and if I’m playing a character with a teleport. Might as well pray that he corners himself and doesn’t know how to use it.
Why are people defending this netcode, NRS even acknowledged that they know its terrible. Yet people here are defending it like its their little brother.
I never thought i’d end up saying this but i’m seriously considering selling my copy. I don’t know if i’ve the patience to wait. Is that unreasonable? Maybe. I just can’t keep pretending the game might suddenly be fixed next time i go online.

My favorite thing about the new games that lag is when people come in and try to help troubleshoot with the most random thing: “Hey bro, are you on ADSL? That might be why you’re lagging” or “Hey, your ethernet cord is probably too long, try a shorter one it’ll fix your lag issues”. Are some of you really that dumb? The game lags, end of story.

Gamers are fanboys: they’ll believe any game they like works just fine because they want to believe. Gamers are fickle: NRS posts a trite line stating the obvious (they are hardly going to say ‘thanks for the cash, we aren’t fixing anything see ya!’) and everyone thinks they are wonderful and all will be well.
I’m amazed this game has gotten the reviews it has. The fighting is enjoyable enough, but the characters are too similar. There’s only one alternate costume, limited fatalities and really very little content. You’d think a 2011 console video game would offer way more. This is content not much beyond what they used to offer. Even MKD had more in it.
