how very droll
I originally bought this on the ps3 and didn’t even bother to do anything online because I wanted to learn my characters. By the time I felt comfortable enough to go online, the servers were down. So I just kept practicing training mode over and over and playing with my room mate. But the fighting the same person over and over gets old really quick. Finally I convinced myself to go pick it up on Xbox just so I could play online. What a glorious waste of 60 dollars. I’ve never seen a shittier online experience, period. The thing that makes it even worse, is that they have some really interesting and fun (sounding) features. King of the hill, 2player online tag matches, etc. But the fact that every single match I’ve ever played has been absolutely unplayable really just fries my bacon. I’ve done everything I could on my end to increase my chances of success but sometimes you just have to recognize when there’s nothing you can do and the problem isn’t in your hands. I’ve even direct lined my xbox straight to the modem with no success. a 100mb connection should not be lagging, at all. I’ve tried the matchmaking with player and ranked, i’ve tried joining rooms and picking people with only good pings, and I’ve even tried joining a “california” room but nothing works. The netcode is trash, plain and simple. Should have bought this shit used.
The only problem i have with online so far is that alot of people seem to be picking reptile and spamming his charge/slide, since it’s VERY difficult to punish online with it’s quick recovery. so alot of times they get a free move that puts you in block stun + the input lag. I can punish it offline but online it’s VERY difficult. characters like this online with moves that have quick recoveries suck to fight cause you can just mash them out all day without fear of getting punished.
which is basically THE problem with fighting online. That’s the issue here. People are able to get away with some really stupid shit because there’s nothing you can do about it. I had a cyrax beat me by jumping and uppercutting, that’s all he did. I couldn’t punish him because it took too long for the game to put my moves out there.
Honestly the game runs smooth online but the input lag is seriously a second behind. I input combos and about 4 button presses into my opponents laying on the ground while my characters still doing moves and they wake up with an xray lol. I mean jesus these are the easiest 40-60% combos I’ve ever done in a fighting game, but they are close to impossible online.
Whoever is saying this game is fine, needs to shut the fuck up, the online is terrible…
I am on cable with open upload. Direct connection via ethernet no other internet activity and this game is ass, it’s worse than Tekken 6 and it’s 100x worse than SF4
I really hope they fix this shit but it’s unlikely. Unplayable at the moment.
Guys, there’s no point complaining on this forum. While the information they are trying to gather from the players seems pointless, express your thoughts on the official thread to keep it visible. Keep it polite.
They don’t take any notice of those forums, that’s clear. The moderators are ok, but they can’t do anything. I’m not really sure why we’re even still bothering with the illusion this trainwreck can be salvaged. They don’t respond to email or tweet either, and if they don’t know what the problems are by now they aren’t ever going to know. I don’t think they have a clue about online play personally.
Then sell the fucking game you retard. Everybody else is hoping they fix the code with the upcoming patch and you still cry “they won’t do it”, “1 week is too long to acknowledge it” and “2 weeks is too long” (not direct quotes) and others are saying “continue to show them” and you STILL sit there with “they don’t/won’t take notice”.
“I’m not sure why we’re still here with the illusion that this trainwreck can be salvaged”
And then you say that. Glad you’re growing tired, sell the game and begone.
The code isn’t the only or even the most significant problem. It’s improtant, yes. But the game won’t be improved solely by fixing it. It’s pathetic that you can’t see that and instead, like most people, seem to resort to abuse. If that’s the best you can do then by all means fuck off yourself; go learn to behave like an adult you sad little child.
To be fair, you’ve been posting nothing but unwarranted negativity in this thread. Saying the characters are “too similar” is really ridiculous considering each one has unique movesets, personalities and animations (which are all amazingly high calibre). There are no two characters alike in MK unlike Street Fighter with its half a dozen Ryu clones. Complaining about costumes? I recall having 0 options for costumes when I bought SF4 PC and the ones I did get I had to pay for. In MK you get at least 2 per character, preorders get 1 more for a specific character, and some characters like Mileena have 3.
Not enough content? Name one fighter that has a more fleshed out story mode. Name one fighter that gave you 300 unique challenges to complete. Seriously, MK is unique in the world of fighters BECAUSE it has so much content. Maybe it doesn’t have 50 characters like KOF2K2 but the roster is still pretty big and more characters are on the way via DLC (Kintaro, Skarlet, Kenshi have been announced so far).
Saying the game is a trainwreck that can’t be salvaged? Why are you so negative? Yes, the online is inferior to SF4/SSF4, especially KOTH, but they’ve stated there are fixes coming in the next 2 weeks. If two weeks is too long for you to wait, then you’re clearly just not enjoying the game itself. Maybe you like MVC, maybe you like SF, maybe the combat system, art, themes and characters just don’t personally appeal to you. There’s nothing wrong with that, but don’t come into a thread spouting a bunch of opinionated bullshit that doesn’t really stand up to fact checking. The game is high quality even if the netcode is fucked right now.
Fixes are coming, just be patient.
All you have done is post countless numbers of bitch posts in this thread. Does crying with everyone make you feel better? Everyone knows the netcode is complete trash. No point mentioning it like 100 times in one thread. Sell the game if you are that frustrated…damnn…
Did I say the code is only problem? What you replied with was so off track from what I said it makes me wonder if you really meant to quote me, but good job addressing what I said the best way you could, I guess?
My point ----------------------------->
Your head ---------------------->
Clearly.
Countless? Really? I suppose they are if you lack the ability to count beyond the number of fingers on one hand.
Noone’s crying, by the way, that’s just your sad use of deliberately provocative language. Try again, or are you looking for an argument. If you don’t like what I say, then don’t read it. Quite simple.
I’ll choose what I do with the game, not some silly little twat on a website who thinks running off at the mouth behind a keyboard makes him a big man. Go wave your cock in someone else’s face little boy.
I no longer really care. I tuned out when you started embarassing yourself. If you want to talk to me then learn to do so like a grown up, not a spoilt child pissing over his keyboard.
By this logic, you really have to wonder how Capcom, Arc System Works, SNK Playmore, et al get away with offering the shit little content they put into their games, and yet everybody still eats it up.
By which I mean the norm for 2011 console fighting games basically disproves your theory that just because it’s a 2011 console game it should somehow have an infinite quantity of content. It’s still leaps and bounds ahead of everything else this genre has to offer in that department.
It’s not a theory. I don’t think you know what a theory is. More content =/= infinite content.
And people will buy anything.
Im from WA state and when I play against people from like Cali the connection is good enough to the point where the match can still be fun. It isn’t perfect by any means but it is playable. Anyone from the midwest and east coast, however, is just 0 fun. I had 1 connection the other day that seemed almost perfect, like I could barely notice any lag whatsoever, I was thoroughly shocked. The guy that I played seemed to be about the same skill level as me too which made it even better. We played 20 matches or so and it was the best online fighting experience I have had pretty much ever.
So moral of the story: Only play people in your area if you want any sort of satisfaction out of MK9 online.
What pisses me off is that im making rooms titled “NorthwestOnly” or “WestCoastOnly” and everyone that seems to come in are from the East Coast/Midwest.
Except you can’t.
Fixed for kicks
