MK community overly sensitive to losing?

Im new to the whole MK fighting scene. It seems compared to alot of other communities everyone is overly sensitive to losing. Ive gotten so many drops and emails people telling me to not to use Smoke. I couldnt believe what I was reading. I cant use Smoke but he was having a field day with Johnny Cage and Raiden. It was the funniest shit I have ever read. God forbid you win a game, no one ever rematches or drops during the fatality. If it was a close fight and they win they are gone! I really do hope they fix the online cause some characters like kung lao just cant be punished after his spin attack. Anyone else noticing this too?

Online is online, it happens. Instead of trying to learn from mistakes, most online players just want a 10:1 win/loss.

I dont mind losing, im not good at MK. Im trying to learn matchups and online really helps with variety. Its just sad that you cant have a set thats longer than 1 match.

it’s not just Kung Lao, it’s everyone.

Average session length is about the same on mk for me as it is for mvc3. The amount hate mail I’ve gotten on mvc3 is 10x worse than from mk. Although MK players dc more. It’s pretty much the same overall I’d say.

The best online community is Blazblue, without a doubt.

Edit: I should also mention that on MK, I’ve gotten quite a few compliments and friend requests due to my Smoke. My Wolverine on MvC3 (even though it’s roughly as good), not so much.

What did the message say?

I main Smoke and I find hate mail amusing, so I guess I’m gonna have a blast. (Not touched online yet)

The only thing I HATE about online saltiness in games are those guys who leave after they win because the match was close. They leave thinking they’re the shit. Some even have the audacity to send you some dumb message after they run away.

I main Smoke and this happens a lot too. I get a lot of hate mail asking me to not pick Smoke but yet they can pick whoever they want. Im like never in my life have I ever gotten a mail asking me not to pick a certain character.

I assume it’s because of the smoke bomb?

I never got a reason.

Pretty use some other guy made a thread just like this.

also Online =/= Mk community.

The problem with online MK is that there’s a huge gap between extreme scrubs/casual players and “true/decent” MK players.

Casuals and scrubs won’t last long though. I give them a couple of weeks before they get tired of losing online and go back to MvC3.

Honestly, I got this a lot in SSFIV too. Play ten games in a row, lose every one of them, win the eleventh game, they suddenly don’t want to play anymore.

So far, truthfully, I’ve had better experience with people online in MK than in SSFIV, so I’d say it’s probably not a community-specific thing.

Nobody wants to really lose. However, I’ve come to learn to take a easy and show good sportsmanship.

Lately I’ve been getting handfuls of “good stuff” and “you’re really good” type messages (is there a phrase that means the opposite of hate mail? love mail seems too strong). A couple people even asked me to teach them. It took a LOT longer than that for the MvC3 online community to reach that point. Gives me high hopes that the scrubs will be weeded out soon.

Direct them to TYM and/or SRK, lol.

Speaking of TYM, I have yet to make an acc…

You’re on SRK. A site in which in you go into the MVC3 board and both SFIV boards you will find lengthy threads about rage quitting. And the “MK” community is overly sensitive to losing? Seriously? Have you even looked in those threads? And since when did shitty online players actually count as part of the community for any game?

It’s like people think because it happened with an MK game, it’s never happened before. Also scrubs are doomed in this game. I got that vibe a long time ago.

I love losing when it’s a loss I can learn something from, it’s how I get better.

and this is why i hate Street Fighter 4 and to a much lesser extent MvC3. still hate MvC3 with a passion, but thats for COMPLETELY different reasons.

but at least MK9 gives you SOME idea of why you lost (not punishing enough, or your moves or combos were too slow versus someone else’s move)

It’s cute that you take online interactions so seriously.

Hatred Edge is on point for this one.
